First case: If I was the judge, I would have only given the plaintiff $100 so she could buy a new purse but $600 is a lot for a purse. Second case: The plaintiff had no business going on that hike. If you're not use to hiking a lot, then don't go out there in the first place!

I disagree with the judge. It was a freak accident. Maybe don't bring a $600 purse to a nail salon??
