Looks great and after checking out Jurijs' channel I subscribed to that as well. You asked for fish suggestions. I'd add a few more livebearers to keep with the them. Maybe a group of creamsicle mollies, or even just the classic black mollies.

Oh wow, I did not know that about the bacteria in the filter. I wonder if that's why sometimes when I do a big maintenance on my bigger tank I have a bacteria bloom. I do quick maintenance most of the time, and the filter is off for only about 30 minutes, but a couple times a year I do a much more thorough cleaning and I almost always have a bloom.

MJ: I posted this comment on Juris channel. Comment applies to you also. Comment: Really enjoyed watching you and MJ work together again. And thank you for explanations throughout both videos. I am still learning, always learning I suppose, and it helps so much. One thing I dont think I will ever master is planting with tweezers. I have tried long and short ones. I've watched countless tutorials. I can go in substrate but when I bring out, plant comes out. Every damned time. You guys do it with such ease. Tank turned out beautiful and I'm sure the residents there will enjoy

@tracys.6033 • I have a great tip for you that should give you some immediate results. There are always a few tools that are just better than the majority of what beginners tend to use , just depends on what you are using and as long as you are not using the black FLUVAL tweezers with red rubber covers on the ends as they are absolutely worthless . Then the technique is not to go straight down and then back out. Instead you want to have the roots go in 1st , always and the angle is what you need to have . Kinda like an airplane landing or like if you're standing on the side of a swimming pool and dove in head first . That's it . Roots 1st how you are holding the tool is like anything else you will do what feels best . 💚💙🤞

@@stoneysscapes7544 Thank you so much for tips. Much appreciated. I am not using tweezers with red tips. I purchased a very good set for planting, cutting, etc. Juris gave me tip that my substrate should be dry. I never knew that. So I am thinking that is the biggest thing I am doing wrong and will try that next time. Thank you again. Tracy

love watching all videos with regards to this tank. I myself is maintaining two tanks a 200L & 300L tropical & coldwater in a nursing home but not of the best aquascape 😂 somewhat the jungle type of scape. The tanks have been a popular viewing thing not only forthe residents but also for their family and friends that visits them. I try every now and then to change the lay out or add something to the tanks so they wont get tired looking at them or at least they'll find something new to talk about. Thank you guys for presenting something like this where in a lot of fishminded people gets inspiration from 😊

Hey guys! Really enjoyed the content,just in right time because I am rescaping too! Basically, I’ve got a problem with Cyanobacteria. It’s in the substrate and am battling it quite a long time. So,my question is,should I keep the filter beneficial bacteria and 50% of my aqua water,or should I I start from beginning? New filter media,pure RO water? 🙂
@JurijsJutjajevs
@JurijsJutjajevs 4 месяца назад
Cyano bacteria doesn’t live in the dark, so technically your filter is safe. Substrate I would replace, hardscape can be treated with h2o2. I recommend doing a dark start on the new system, this way, any remaining cyano will be dead. Good luck with the restart 💚
@zorantolmacev4219
@zorantolmacev4219 4 месяца назад
@@JurijsJutjajevs And what about Plants? I would like to keep Eleocharis acicularis ‘Mini’,it has some cyano spots,but I regularly siphon it out and they seems pretty healthy,quite vibrant green color. But still afraid that I will transfer the bacteria to the new setup! Thanks for the help,keep up the good work!😇

When doing such rescapes, running the filter on the scape water that has been collected in the drum should keep the bacteria alive. Just put the inlet and outlet in a bucket full of scape water and switch the filter on
@JurijsJutjajevs
@JurijsJutjajevs 4 месяца назад
Yes that works, in our case the tank was bottom drilled and we would have required a new set of tubings and filter in/outflows to keep the filter running on the barrel with old water

Isn't it an old hearsay that the old aquarium water helps to keep the beneficial bacteria colony going? I mean, the amount of bacteria that is in the water is minuscule compared to what you have on the substrate, hardscape and specially the filter media. Most aquarists I follow on YT have been able to put fish on a new scape if they use the same hardscape and had the filter running in a bucket. Or even, if they had a sponge filter running on another aquarium and then use it on the new one.
@jordanbabcock9349
@jordanbabcock9349 4 месяца назад
So the bacteria don't wash off the filter into the new, fresh water?
@JurijsJutjajevs
@JurijsJutjajevs 4 месяца назад
The reason for saving 50% of the old water, was to provide familiar conditions to the fish and shrimps and simply due to logistics to be able to refill the aquarium after the rescape as quick as possible
