Special Thanks To Rockler for Sponsoring the Video. Links to all products below
In this episode we're taking an office and turning it into a guest room. We built what is basically a closet and a dresser and shelving unit in one. The room doesn't have a closet, so we're making built-ins with lots of storage, a place to hang some clothes and more. The hardest part of this build was making something big, but making it look interesting. We used subtle pops of color and a unique door pull style to achieve that...we hope :)
The video focuses on Woodworking techniques such as squaring plywood, fitting doors, plywood box construction, cabinet construction, discussions about order of operations, and more.

I will say, I’ve watched hundreds of maker, project, build videos on RU-vid and this has been the best one regarding how a project is DESCRIBED, like the cut list, the process of how you would or could approach the cut list, and the best process. I think this is the most helpful when showing a video like this if you are actually trying to teach your viewers, not just “inspire” which so many makers say to take the pressure off themselves to actually explain anything. Anyway, thank you man (guys). Great video! Subscribed.

Thanks Art...appreciate it. This one we definitely skewed that way. It was a pretty repetitive build, so we needed to find new angles in terms of what to talk about and focus on. Otherwise it would be "cut this piece of plywood, then cut this piece of plywood...." about 60 times over.

My whole thought process was just rearranged when you said, "...and then I view the actual build as me trying my best to preserve the idea and not ruin it in my execution." It's like you just handed me a key that just unlocked something in my "process" - for lack of a better word. (I really do hate that word... and even more so that it's so appropriate there.) I know this video is old but I was searching for something here. I’ve been working on some large plywood cabinets. I’m wondering how you get away with the doors not warping or twisting on something like this. There seems to be almost zero info I can find online about this. I came back to these videos of yours since you were one of the first people to help me realize plywood was an actual option for building things like this.

As a former production custom cabinet maker (aspiring to be a furniture maker) I imagine the reaction I am having to this build is similar to the reaction you two would have to watching me build a furniture piece. “That is so inefficient! Why aren’t you just using a cut list and just cutting to final dimension on the first pass? You haven’t even assembled the boxes fully, but you want to start the doors already? Is that really 2 people ripping down 4” toe kick?” All that being said. Love your work - and it turned out great.
@Foureyes.Furniture
@Foureyes.Furniture 4 года назад
I suspect you are probably right (furniture maker vs cabinet maker) - we definitely approach things differently. We also had a few conversations about cabinet makers watching us in this video and basically thinking "What the hell are they doing????"
@shaunb66

That has Tickled me !! at 5:38 you start to drill pilot screw holes then come back to the same hole, to countersink having to put down the drill to change to another drill which holds a countersink bit!!!!. Geez it seems you need to spend a couple of Dollars on a Drill/Countersink Combo n stave off buying a new Woodpecker tool until you've recouped the Dollars spent on the Combo. I seemed to think that the thought pattern re: this vid was about in part to economy of thought/movement/repeated processes. just sayin lol.
