I love that the American is excited about the invite to the coronation and the Englishman is excited about the New Orleans honorary citizenship.

An invitation to the Queen's coronation is something that will still be a valuable piece of history for as long as you have it, the older the better! Imagine an invitation to the coronation of a Queen that was 500 years old! Priceless piece of history!!

You could have a “paint out” and invite artists to come and paint at Mapperton. We have a Utopian community here in Indiana that does this for the “first brush” of Spring.

As an American, I understand Julie’s enthusiasm about finding historical pieces. Considering most things in this country are not as old and usually most even preserved. It’s fun to discover the history of a place, especially one you live in. Britain is filled with rich history. I enjoy watching the discoveries. I would be just as excited if I were there.

Luke's mannerisms and his comfort in talking to Julie's viewers is relaxing, calm and interesting. He is playful with Julie when she has the desire to contribute to Luke's conversation and that is when Luke reassures the viewers everything is done in playfulness and fun. My 12th great grandfather was Sir Edward Montagu - my branch descended from his son Charles (down to the Barons North) and the Earls of Sandwich descended from his other son Sidney. I love the gardens! They are so beautiful. I would love to have visited this wonderful place. I have loved gardening for years and I know there is planning. Hours of it! And then also hours of work. I am 70 now, so I can’t do much of it now. The house is amazing! I would come and clean the cobwebs down. Sorry! I can’t climb steps anymore. I love your personalities and your sense of humor. It reminds me of a time, a few years ago, that I climbed up two steep ladders (after a bell ringing competition) to stand on a tiny platform next to the church bell in an ancient church in the Cotswold. In my previous home I loved exploring my cellar. In my parents home in the back garden when it was landscaped we found an old WWII shelter with steps leading down underground. Whilst it was being excavated a swan from the near by blockhouse gardens decided to move in. Happy memories.

Visiting all these kind of secret places is my childhood dream. As a child I lived in a very small part of 100 years old, dilapidated house. I dreamt about finding secret rooms, tunnels, things, treasures. I can't belive that somene lives my perfect dream being surrounded by such beauty.

Brilliant video! As soon as I saw the ‘bath’ I couldn’t believe you hadn’t been for a cold immersion dip in it! The summerhouse definitely IS charming as it is, but imagine it cleaned, curtains back up, tea on a table, plump country style armchairs and a fire crackling away - bliss!

So, this is my favorite episode so far... looking forward to seeing more of these Secret Places episodes. I particularly liked the summer house. I'd furnish it with a couple of club chairs and turn it into a smoking room (although I don't smoke), or a fortress of solitude or something. I'm an electrician here in Canada and fascinated by original electrical work... having a light and power in there was probably a big deal at one time. Great work Montagus! Keep it up!

Love that last room, mill house? I'd clean it well and put some good solid oil on the wood, it looks thirsty and plan an afternoon tea in it.What a great place to enjoy a new view.

Regarding the bath wear some water shes as stepping in can kick some stuff up….clean it up as well. The ferns do not inspire confidence in the stairs(without the ferns there would be no confidence either because history of stair and riser and tread regs) although the ferns do add a charming, mystical, Arthurian-legend touch.

this is so amazing. I've thought often of how ingenious the British people are and those who caretake these old 'manors'. Who else could transform these properties with modern conveniences introduced over centuries! The Boiler room is awesome!

I love that last room. I would make it my sewing room. Does Mapperton have an elevator to get to the other floors of the Manor? Are the grounds or a bedroom handicapped-friendly, especially the bathroom? The more I see of the estate the more I love it.
