Welcome to Santa Cruz, my hometown (or home town for UK spellers)! Hope you have a great time here and at the Sea Otter. One tip, during certain hours, the car/road race track with the famous corkscrew is open to all.
This was my 12 Sea Otter and today, as I was cruising through the paddock area lo and behold who do I see? Andrew Daddy! I was so stoked, gave him a shout out, he came over, we chatted for a moment. I thanked him for all of his tech videos due to relocating from Monterey to a small town outside of Reno Nevada and now I do most work on my own bikes by watching is videos. Way cool in addition to another Enduro race in the books,
My good friend Garen from Santa Cruz MTB texted me a photo of him with Martin and it lighted up our group text. So many good memories of The Martins before the slip up and so many after. I used to live on the West Side of Santa Cruz and, surely inspired by Martin, I had Thirteen routs down the West Cliffs shown behind the presenters from the road down to the beach sand. I lived in Santa Cruz for 25 years and mostly kept to the trails. Those West Cliff steeps were my only touches of sand. I wish that I could ride them with you Martin.
The Giro accident replacement programme they had back in the 90s was awesome for us as riders and must have been great for their R&D. Damage your helmet in a crash, stick it in a beer or pizza box and send it back to get a freshie with the latest updates and colour ways. And with the dial adjustment it was always an easy helmet to sell as they fitted everyone.
Hey...I know that view of the Santa Cruz Pier from Surfer's Point. And I used to race formula cars at Laguna Seca. Maybe I should make the 320 mile trip to see you people at the Sea Otter. Hmmm...
Great show. I wish it was longer. I'm a year into the sport and only learned of sea otter a few months back so I'm really looking forward to your coverage.
Welcome to California!! Cheers from Northern California. Currently up in Gualala. Enjoy Monterey did you know it was once the capital of California when we were a state of Mexico. My great Grandfather was part of the group that moved our capital to Benicia for one year before Sacramento became the capital.
Hey Martyn have you been riding at all lately? I’m curious about what types of riding you can do before and after an injury like yours. Your a huge inspiration man, thanks for being.
Jeffsy's a beast, no other bike i have been able to abuse as much as the base mk2 I've been riding for the last few years. It absolutely rips as long as you maintain the damn thing. hits way, way above most bikes of the same category.
Awesome, looking forward to the Sea Otter coverage. Just an idea, is Martyn going to persuade Anna to join him on the Random Tandem, as he is going to with Rich?
Suspension fork for a gravel bike, next thing will be one with a rear suspension, why not get a cross country bike, and throw some drop bars on it??? Too may genre's $$$
The New Jeffsy looks great, I have a 2019 Jeffsy and I love it, I'm trying to upgrade to a new one, but they NEVER have any bikes in stock, how do they stay in business if they never have bikes in stock???😡
Are you guys going to have a booth or something at Sea Otter? I'm planning on being there on Saturday, wanted to know if I should be keeping an eye out for you.
#askgmbntech not a tech question: I know you guys (at least some of you!) are headed to Bentonville soon. I'd assume after Sea Otter. The and of April marks three years since the day I was fighting for my life in pulmonary critical care at Harris Hospital as a blood disorder was ravaging my lungs and I'd like to do something a little special to celebrate and I would be SO stoked to meet you guys and would gladly make the six hour drive to get a spin with you in Bentonville. Are you able to share the dates of that trip?
Hi Dreads and Dirt! The GMBN guys will be doing a ride out from Bentonville on Saturday the 16th April. Check out the Dirt Shed Show on Friday for some more info! 🤘
#askgmbn When testing helmets, why don't they test with a wig, or hair substitute? Surely a full head of hair under a helmet affects the airflow inside, compared to a bald or shaved head (similar to the testing mannequin shown)?
