I have all the ingredients except fresh basil. Probably not the season here yet. Dried basil is just not the same, but will have to do. I plan to cook it tomorrow for friends who are coming over for 'pranzo', fingers crossed it will work out this time using Enzo's recipe. Last time I made it, what a disaster! I think I cut the eggplant too thick.

I spent many summers of my youth in Montefegatesi. Watching this video brings back many great memories and I could even spot houses that belong to my family for many centuries. Many wonderful nights in the piazza back when the bar was still open. I hope to be returning in the fall with my family.

I recently uncovered a family mystery and found out that my great grandfather was born in Montefegatesi, Ive tried to contact the parish for records regarding burial/ birth records but no luck yet! Such a beautiful town with some amazing history. its amazing to see the buildings/ streets my grandfather would’ve been around! If you go back anytime could you please look in the church/ cemetery for anyone with the last name Martinelli that lived there pre 1908 💚 much love! Great video!

Martinelli is fairly common surname in the area and indeed we have a friend in a nearby village with the same surname. We will certainly visit the cemetery next time we go up to the village. It may not be for a while. Do you know your grandfather's first name or any other details? I could ask my friends if he was part of their family. Saluti!
My grandmother was born in Montefegatesi the 30s with the name Martinelli. Her parents had her when they were pretty old (I think she's the youngest of 6 siblings), so they were definitely living in the town pre 1908.
My mother's side of the family is all Martinelli with roots in Montefegatesi going back centuries. We still have several houses in the town and I spent summers there in my youth. It is a very common last name there, so you will see a lot of them in the cemetery. Chances are you are at least distantly related to all of them and perhaps my family as well. I am going to back there in the fall and i would be happy to look for any specific names you are looking for.
