I dunno if people are gonna care but for context the moms said after leaving that originally the show was going to be only one sessions and be more like a documentary on dance competitions then a reality show but after the show gained success Lifetime trapped them through a some sneaky loop hole and basically forced them to stay for 6 seasons, the only way 2 of the moms where even able to get there kids away was by literally getting a restraining order against Abby which made it basically impossible for the company to use them.

The show actually got cancelled because a bunch of people came out about Abby being racist… She said to nia “ I don’t want any little tooties” on the team. ( little tootie was the only black character from a tv show ) She told camryn that her feet looked weird because the tops were black and the bottoms were white She basically assumed another girl named camryn was poor and “ grew up with a 12 pack of crayons “ while Abby “ had a 64 pack” She made fun of nias braids “ looks like a log comin out the side of her head” Whenever there was a black mom she would call them ghetto or crazy. And probably many more.

In their contact it states they would have to pay a hundred thousand dollars CASH, that’s just the studio contract never mind the show’s contract. The studio contact also doesn’t allow the kids to lose or gain 10 pounds. So it’s not just as simple as “bad moms” or “leave” the producers also made the moms answer the calls on loudspeaker. And if they didn’t do what they wanted they would hold their kids pay checks or would hide there kids costumes or music to humiliate them. They also cut in clips to make the moms look bad, christi was not laughing at Maddie forgetting her solo, the producers just cut the clips together, it’s well known.

Fun Fact for you Alex: There was an episode that got banned because Abby made the girls into showgirls so they were in nude bras and booty shorts... even Mckenzie who was 6 at the time and they covered themselves with big feather fans on occasion throughout the dance. The episode was so bad, the audience was hollering at the girls and even the judges struggled to watch. So believe it or not... these group dances aren't that outrageous compared to what she's made them do lol

i believe abby actually did teach older students i remember it being in one of the episodes they looked around 18-20 years old but i think it was all about publicity and money for her and she knew little girls would get her what she wanted

Quite frankly every single extracurricular activity for kids is poisoned by weirdo parents that take it too seriously. I've worked at a hotel for 12 years so I've dealt with travel ball teams, chess competitions, church groups, all sorts plus I also worked for the Scouts. I've heard the dad's/coaches gather up the kids and go over their stats. I've had groups of high school girls gathered in the lobby crying over their phones because all their friends are posting pictures from homecoming or prom and their parents made them go to a tournament instead (and it's often clear that it's a mandatory thing in their home, not an interest of the kids). I've had parents fighting over dumb shit. Last chess tournament we had I cleaned up vomit at least once per shift because the kids were so stressed out and being fed microwave junk. It's wild.

I vividly remember when I watched the episode where Maddi forgot her solo when it aired. I was only a few years older than her. I felt a weird sense of joy to watch Abby’s favorite finally fumble. It’s horrible to watch now because I obviously see it’s this poor young girl in distress but man when I was a kid seeing this girl be rewarded over and over while the other girls were just as deserving, I felt HAPPY. It’s so messed up how competitive sports like this make people lose their humanity. I grew up taking dance and competitive figure skating and it’s actually disgusting to think back at how people, specifically the ADULTS, would behave. Pitting children against each other, talking badly about CHILDREN and their athletic abilities (or often their appearance), outright fighting with other parents or coaches IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN. It’s genuinely sick. I can confidently say that while I am thankful for my experiences within the sports, I suffered greatly as a result of being involved in them. Mentally and physically (And I am sure that these girls would probably say the same)

I cant believe this show is still available to watch especially the ACTUAL abuse in this show, its full of emotional and mental abuse, constantly saying they are the worst then, when they don't want to do it, acting like they can retry and that they don't despise the kid for having an anxiety attack because she messed up her dance. IT IS DANCING. IT IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. THERE ARE OTHER PROFESSIONS. MESSING UP AS A CHILD SHOULD BE EXPECTED. Its not even like this show isn't around now because of the abuse, Jojo Siwa is literally recreating her trauma for kids to experience so they become like her. Any parent wanting to sign their kid up to Jojo Siwa's show needs to watch dance moms, and if they still want to put their kid through that they shouldn't be allowed to have kids, their kids should be removed from their judgement and torture they would have experienced. I had a rough childhood and I'm still working through it now, I had panic attacks and an immeasurable amount of anxiety and depression, and I would not want to put a kid through that. It was horrible and i had to drop-out of school so I wouldn't kill myself from the depression I was facing. Kids shouldn't be stressed or worried about the future, they should be excited to live in the future they create, not scared of the implications of their younger life. It is not fair to them to say that they should enjoy their young life before you are crushed by the cost of living.

I didn’t have a cellphone until I was 17. I also didn’t have a computer in my home at any point and my computer teacher in school was in her 60s and had no clue what she was talking about. Which now has lead me to be probably the most technologically stunted 23 year old you’ll ever meet.
