My only issue however is that I kind of wish they aired this episode before The Bully. Because it would make Spongebob seem to learn from his mistakes, like when Flats ripped his chest hair saying "I MEAN IT". By doing it the opposite way feels a little inconsistent.

I don't see how it's inconsistent when he's dealing with a real life criminal versus a bully. I love that episode, and it reminds me of "The Getaway". I love these episodes of SpongeBob driving hardened criminals insane. I love SpongeBob sm.

I mean tell me that it would’ve been more funny if he drove that dude insane, whenever he tried to tell him what he was gonna do to him, even when he rips his chest hair off, SpongeBob only replies with, “Hey how did you do that without shaving cream?”.

I have my theory that SpongeBob knew the Bodyguard was the Strangler the whole time, since he nearly called him Bodyguard, as well as the invitations demanding just that many parties. Spongebob was just screwing with him all this time, just to mess him up.

i think the biggest giveaway was spongebob slipping up by calling him "strangler" then correcting himself by saying "bodyguard". sometimes spongebob is genuinely naive and has no idea what he's doing but in this episode he was definitely just being a massive troll lmao

Fun Fact: "The Sponge Who Could Fly" was originally intended to be the finale of the show, and was treated as such for a while, with grand commercials leading up to the treasure hunt, the walk cycles, the Remembering SpongeBob sequence, etc. Of course, the show was too popular for Nick to possibly end it, and there would be much to come after the movie.

I remember all the hype to the Lost Episode (The Sponge Who Could Fly) back in the day. Nickelodeon's TV channel, website and magazines advertized it so much. In the SpongeBob SquarePants The Lost Episode Sweepstakes marathon leading up to the original airing of this episode, celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg, Coolio, Randy Jackson, and Jennifer Love Hewitt guest starred alongside Patchy trying to find the lost episode. Oh, and that miner guy at 4:26 is played by Stephen Hillenberg himself. Also, you may notice that Old Man Jenkins has come in many different forms. Maybe he's a Time Lord fish. "SpongeBob Meets the Strangler" is pretty funny too. Throughout the whole thing, Tattletale Strangler couldn't catch a break. "Pranks a Lot" is great as well. Let's all go out and buy prank novelty items right now, including gags and gross-out toys. Now after this comes the 2004 theatrical movie, which you two have already viewed on this channel.

I want to say that the Lost Episode was intended to be the last episode of Spongebob. However due to pressure from Nicklodeon the show had to continue cause it was so popular. It led to the writer and creator Stephen Hillenburg leaving the show. Stephen Hillenburg would go to work on the movie which he said was the true finale of the show and no matter what episodes come after the movie they take place before it. RIP Stephen Hillenburg.

5:53 Fun fact: if you look closely at this merch, you'll see that it differs from SpongeBob's actual design (his tie is a bowtie, his eyes are in the pie-eyed style of older cartoons, his Krusty Krab hat is black instead of white, etc.). This is because there are FCC regulations that prevent a show from using its own merch within its programming (it would be tantamount to advertising it), so they had to custom-make all of the items for this scene. The same applies for the items of Patrick, Squidward, and Gary as well.

Here it is. The finale episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. An episode that premiered on TV in the United States nearly 20 years on October 11, 2004. After that episode premiered, SpongeBob officially died with no need for anymore episodes and left the impact of being the greatest Nickelodeon cartoon to ever grace our TV screens.

As much people hate on the seasons after season 3. In reality, if Nickelodeon didn’t continue after season 3 until now, it wouldn’t be relevant for 20 years. The show would be just another memory of kids who grew with it and nothing else, successful nicktoon from the early 2000s. Matter of fact, most of the highest rated episodes are from season after 4- Atlantis SquarePants being the most viewed episode ever. And, also the show is number one search cartoon on google!Do you think SpongeBob would be talk as much today if it ended with the first movie. No, I don’t believe. Before Spongebob, there was Rugrats, most successful Nickelodeon of the 90s. Nobody talks about the show today anymore unless you grew in the 90s which is a generation that’s pushing 40 years old by now. The reboot show didn’t do well and was removed on paramount +.

The Strangler and Pranks episodes were a good note to end Season 3 on. Seeing the Strangler failing at every attempt to get back at SpongeBob and ultimately avoiding him was entertaining. Also, SpongeBob and Patrick making jokes while spraying each other, pretending to be ghosts and terrorizing everyone, including Mr. Krabs was fun as well. The Lost Episode imo, I wasn’t too crazy about tbh.

@TheMarvelousM exactly. I hate it when people act like episodes like "A Par for Gary" and "Demolition Doofus" are the only episodes after the movie. There's a lot more, but people exaggerate how much bad there is. Good as the first three seasons? Probably not, but is that even a problem?

There is something I don't get. At 22:56, SpongeBob seems to know his bodyguard is the tattletale strangler, but for most of the rest of the episode, SpongeBob is clueless.

There’s a theory going around that SpongeBob knew he was the strangler all along but decided to use the opportunity to get back at him (or just annoy him to the point of turning himself in).

Also, he's totally unfazed when the Strangler rips his mustache off, yet acts very scared when Flats (The Bully) ripped his chest hair saying "I MEAN IT". Would have made more sense if the Strangler episode aired before The Bully, showing that Spongebob learns from his mistakes. By doing it the opposite way feels a little inconsistent.

Season 3 is amazing. After this season, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is released. After this film, Stephen Hillenberg leaves the Paul Tibbitt studio and he does SpongeBob from season 4 to season 8. After season 8, SpongeBob Out Of Water released. And after that, SpongeBob is not worth watching (non-canon ) I hope you will react until the end of season 8. Thank you for your wonderful reactions! ☺️

I think Sorta Stupid also shaded the residents in their latest review (small hint, it's where SpongeBob got a wig) for the movie, one dressed like Patchy, and his conch said SpongeBob and Patrick would survive (it's been very truthful!) I started watching your near 2 year old reaction to the movie after this (you questioned the French narrator). And so far entering S4, didn't seem to bad (even if the conch said it's not better than 3)

In the episode The Sponge Who Could Fly I have always found it funny when Fred bends down and takes off SpongeBob's damaged pants. They left him in his underwear. Which meant Mrs Puff even saw SpongeBob's underwear.

I feel like the lost episode special was planned to be the final episode of the show, there is one episode after that and the movie but on that special had an "remembering SpongeBob" section and the end showing the SpongeBob constellation and what the narrator was saying at that moment it felt like they were just dismissing the show
