i think calf-barn is needed more as far as Tom always said. but good idea, had to look up why one would do it and it kinda makes sense, but is like always a matter of opinion maybe, and importance.

@@MagdaRantanplan I see where you're coming from. But it has rained so much this year that it nearly filled up the pit completely and then it would start going over the sides which would be a disaster

He needs a 2nd poo pit. Never have too much poo 😂
@MagdaRantanplan
@MagdaRantanplan 20 дней назад
@@teresabrewer2661 agreed. But then they also would need a separate system to deal with that rainwater. As far as i understand his farm setup in that area, all runoff that gets in anyway collected goes into the slurry system and lands in the pit in the end. Not sure if the rain from the barn roofs goes somewhere else.

I'm glad to see the progress on farm and don't want to ruin the mood, but I hope those panels where cheap, because they are rubbish. Let me explain. You can see the rebar rust trough the concrete. That means the rebar is not put properly in the panel and should be at least an inch in the concrete. Long term the moisture from silage, which is acidic, will corrode the rebar even more and expand, cracking the thin concrete around the surface of rebar and ending up in TMR for the cows. Just expressing my concerns seeing similar things happen before

Unfortunately, concrete will crack in tension about every 11 feet if you don't add enough reinforcement. The embedded fibers probably aren't enough. A grid of steel should have been in the trench. Problem with cracks is then you'll be leaking the silage water, to which you've otherwise gone to some length to avoid doing. Hope I'm wrong.

Curious with the roof pitch if you can go higher in the middle if it can take it to take advantage of the roof pitch to squeeze more grass in? Or would the steels not take the pressure? Assuming the grab would be able to reach and a sideways slope wouldn’t trigger viewers OCD 🤣

just an idea, you move the building you rent out and together with the show room extend the barn, and make a road from the back of the silage clamp to get to the new shed. So you would add a feeding ally that cows could acces only from one side. With that you get easy access to the cow sheed, more space for cows 50+, no need to travel true cow muck, easier feeding. Think about it, the sheed you rent could be relativly easy to move and then you can use it for machinery sheed.
