4:26 contrary to popular belief, gas stations make little to no profit off selling gasoline. the real profits come from sales inside off drinks and snacks, merch etc. even at the scale of Buc-ees the profit is made inside, not outside at the pumps.

The "Come and Take It" cannon is in the city of Gonzales in a small museum. It's barely bigger than an iPhone 12. I was surprised when my wife and I went to see it. You should come here to Austin and stop at the State of Texas Historical Museum that is downtown. It's huge and just amazing on the history of the state. Expect to spend many hours there. HEB is for Howard E. Butt Sr. who founded it. People stress buy before its cold here because of the big storms we had a few years ago and power was out for a good week or so. So now it's just normal procedure. HEB is usually much busier than Wal-Mart from my experience.

Something most people do not know is most police departments will help you with pepper spray, how to use it and so much more. If they can't help you (some insurance companies prevent it), they will at the very least point you in the direction of places that can.

If you are concerned about being trained for pepper spray, call up gun shops/clubs in your area. Many offer training for pepper spray, which can include getting sprayed with it (great video content) so you know what to expect. Getting pepper spray on yourself is common when using it. It actually is beneficial to get sprayed with it because using pepper spray usually means you are in a situation where you need to be able to run or potentially fight even after using it. Having experienced how it feels takes the first time shock out of the equation when you are in a real world situation and need to be able to function.

I lived in Houston for 10 yrs and loved every minute of it. Beware of your first summer, but after you get through that, your body not only acclimates to it, but the lifestyle puts things in place to avoid the hottest times of the day. For instance, there are fantastic underground "tunnel" systems of fantastic stores, eateries, etc, that link all of the buildings downtown. There is also one between the hospitals at the medical center. No reason to go outside. The evenings are beautiful and most restaurants, Bars, eateries etc have outdoor dining which is lovely. On weekends, my boyfriend and I used to flip a coin about a direction. Whether north, South, east, west or a combo of such like southwest and we would fill the car up with supplies and head out in the selected direction for the day. Those are some of my favorite life memories. One day, out in the countryside, we came across a VFW hall with a lot of cars. We headed in and it was Grandpa Roy's 100th birthday. We were invited in to eat, drink and celebrate grandpa's birthday. I recommend that you try it. Welcome to the USA and may your life be filled with love, fun and adventure. ~ Karen

In an apartment, you can buy "command" adhesive hooks. It's a very strong, double-sided tape that you can tape a strong, clear plastic hook to a wall. Then, when you want to take it off the wall, you just pull the tab, and it releases.

Re: Pepper Spray Training. Yes, it's best to train with it, to know where it will reach, where it won't, what to expect when you need to use it, get used to how coordinated you'll be reaching for it, aiming, etc. I worked security and we were trained in the proper use of pepper spray.

I’m in Oklahoma. We split our reaction. We are somewhat prepared. The north have necessary preps, the south have none. You’re doing fine. As for a woman protection/, I suggest easy to carry bear spray over pepper spray. Northerners don’t understand how unprepared te out is for subzero temps. Basically keep your hot water taps slightly running and your cabinet doors open under your sink so they stay warm and don’t freeze up.

Being from Tennessee, we totally miss out on HEB 😢My daughter lived in Houston and the first place I would head out to when visiting is HEB. Best grocery store ever. Great quality and selection. The HEB brands put any other stores brand to shame. You will likely be an HEB convert who will rarely darken the doors of Wal-mart ever again.

I'm cracking up - people in Texas panicking because it might freeze! LOL Again, in Ohio our wind chill right now is 10 below zero and it's 12 degrees without the wind! I check Katy, Texas weather . . and it's 40 degrees (heat wave for us right now) and your hard freeze says about 18 degrees, but in Texas as soon as the sun comes up - it's gonna warm up and people are panicking....smh! It's like when I first moved to Phoenix, AZ, I laughed my first winter there when people had winter coats on!! But after a few years I bought a coat too!

You guys need to get some warehouse memberships like Costco and Sam's Club where you can buy things in bulk. Water is almost always in stock there.

Regarding pepper spray...You must be aware of the direction that the wind is blowing so the spray doesn't come back on you instead of your assailant. Pepper gel may be safer for you to use.

Gas Stations make more on the indoor products than Gas. To stay fuel competitive there is little revenue mark up on fuel for the gas stations. The biggest revenue is on the clothes, drinks and food inside.

HEB is mostly a Texas and Mexico thing. People outside those 2 places for the most part do not know about it. It's not like Kroger which is in so many states. Howard E. Butt was the founder's son's name and his initials are HEB. The chain is based out of San Antonio. The supermarket chain Central Market is a subsidiary and you will find those also in Texas and other places. HEB has a loyal following in Texas but nowhere else.

The caramel and sea salt beaver nuggets are the best. Beaver "nuggets" is a joke - that's what they call their 💩. But of course Buckee's nuggets are unique LOL!🤠

Just buy TWO cans of peper sprays. USe one in a park to get the feel of how long it lasts and how far it shoots. Also you can do what I did in case I run into a road rager. I bought a can of BEAR SPRAY which shoots a crap load of spray 20 feet. Takes the starch out of jerks that hop out of their cars to start something with you. Also you can buy a taser which I am sure is illegal in the U.K.

After you get settled in. Please come visit Colorado..The Air Force Academy is in Colorado Springs..Beautiful Mountains..Best skiing in the world..Denver is a fun city.. It's about a 12 hour drive or a 90 minute flight.

we live in a very nice place and my wife carries pepper spray. Don't spray into the wind. No real training required other than that. Test the range so you know how to aim it.

He said “you all can go to hell, I’m going to Texas.” That’s what he said when he decided to come and fight the war the Mexicans when they were trying to take Texas back. I’m not sure if he fought at the Alamo, or another place. But I thought that was so awesome of him to go that. That’s why I have a fondness for Tennessee. I loved Nashville when we went for a special occasion. I also learned that there were men from Scotland that fought there as well. Yes, Texas is not only special to us Texans, but to some from other countries. And it’s awesome you two lovely people blessed us with moving here. Welcome!

Thanks for the video. I have been to the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco, Texas. Overall, I liked it. They had a little place to eat/drink downstairs, it is near downtown and the building has a lot of history. The biggest problem I had in Waco was, since the streets are set at diagonals from N.S.E.W, I got turned around in my directions.

Interestingly 'How much money they make on gas' would surprise you. They probably lose a little bit of money on gas to get you in the doors & hope you will buy the much higher mark-up things inside. Cold drinks (fizzy drinks) from the fountain make insane amounts of money for them.

I live near Cypress so not far from y’all & then you surprised me by wanting to visit my hometown of Waco. After the museum, go to the Magnolia Silos (watch a show called Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines before you go). You both are a joy to watch.

The original BassPro is in Springfield MO. You should check it out sometime! There is a museum & a HUGE aquarium. It even has a wonderful restaurant in it. It is about 4x larger than the one you went to. Totally worth a road trip up there to check it out!!! It's truly mind blowing!
