Few years back when getting my rotary license, I wasn't interested in paragliding and did not understand the physics involved. A few times I flew by some guy soaring a ridge in a distance which seemed comfortable to me at that time but probably scared the shit out of them. Feeling stupid and sorry looking back now at these events...
Scary when they come close. We we're flying about a year or so ago and a guy took off in his little 2 seater and flew at and between us. I spotted his farm airstrip, googled it and called the guy. I asked was that a friendly buzz or was you trying to knock us out of the sky?, he said 'a bit of both'!. To make things worse he is an flying insrtuctor!
@@Parahooners he knew exactly what he was doing, he told me so🤣 It’s a shame my head cam battery died. He didn’t know that though and soon changed his attitude when I told him if he had hit us we all die and I had him on camera doing it. Crazy skys🤣
I would report him anyway, if you will cause any safety concerns you will have absolute hell drop on you and your wing. He is an instructor , he should know best.
I've wanted to get into paramotoring for years now. I always talk myself out of it. I have 8 solo skydiving jumps and they still scare me but yet I do them. I don't know why I'm so worried about paramotoring. I would seek out professional training and I'm sure after training I'd feel more confident but when I get home I'd be flying alone. Maybe that's what worries me the most. If a person has good training, is flying in good weather and isn't flying above their abilities is paramotoring pretty safe?
Hi. Yes paramotoring is very safe. Like almost anything you can find ways to make it dangerous. Complaintancy is probably our worse enemy. i.e. not doing proper checks. Ground starting your motor because it's more convenient. Personally I consider it much safer than paragliding. In paragliding you fly in close proximity to other pilots and ridges etc until you are good enough to get away from the hills. I would highly recommend getting a taster session or a tandem flight if you can. Do some ground handling. Picking good weather is a massive part of it aswell. And after you've flown for a while 100% go and do an siv course. It will make you soo much safer and more confident as a pilot.
@@Parahooners thank you for reply. I'm actually watching a siv course right now. Holy hell, I'm on my couch and I'm terrified haha. I actually already have done a tandem paramotor flight. I loved it. We didn't go very high or do anything crazy of course.
