Storage unit auctions saved me 🙏🤑 those storage units that show lots of garbage have been my blessings 😇 they normally go for 20-50 depending on how many totes and boxes are visible, I pay under $5 a tote/box and if you could dump garbage with out paying the dump you have a advantage to others that have to pay the dump , I have 3 different places I could dump garbage which helps me on dump costs and only twice I had to pay the dump

Due to the business of my full-time job and how much it takes me away from my family, I am truly thinking about going full-time reselling soon. I have done it part-time for over a year. I know there are struggles, but me and my wife think they are worth the trade-off of us being together more. I have been blessed with a good job, but quality time trumps quantity of money for us. Thanks for all the content and encouragement you both provide.

I have packages of packing tape in my guest bathroom shower! It’s where we store our huge bricks of Kleenex and paper towels and toilet paper from Costco, so it made sense to put my extra tape there too. Lol.

The key with media mail is there can't be ads in it. So magazines & comics can't go media mail for example.

I'd use time away with a message. That makes sure the buyer sees it. They can still buy if they are willing to wait.

Media mail consist of books,printed music, sound recordings, test materials, CDS, printed educational reference charts it just takes about 7-10 days for shipping.

Great video. All that information will be very helpful to others wanting to follow in your footsteps. Think I've been everywhere except bubble wrap in the shower and that was probably because there was only one. Ha, ha! Every job has issues. Doing what you love to do makes the job a whole lot easier. Keep doing what you do. You are always very positive and encouraging. I do this on the side and love every minute of it. Hoping to retire in 5 years and then do it full time.

We are an S Corp and the S corp pays our insurance. Please be sure to set up an IRA, it is complete way to lower your taxable income. Get TERM Life insurance on each of ya’ll. My husband and I have it on each of us. We have a CPA to do our taxes for corporate and personal.

Recently found out that my local grocery store gives away bubble wrap by the BIG box full, I can literally pick up a box full every day. In the spring summer and fall, I tend to go to garage sales and occasional estate sales. During the colder months, it is estate sales only.

I went FT reseller 2.5 years ago. I enjoy what I do but I do think a lot of don’t truly realize the amount of work that goes into it. Especially the part you said about finding consistent inventory. You have to be able replace that inventory that you sell. I’m also a retired navy veteran so medical insurance wasn’t an issue for me. Gave me a huge boost to be able to go FT that most people don’t have. I’ll be putting my eBay store on time away December 18th and reopen Jan 1st. I won’t allow sales during that time.

Thanks for having this is video, every single point was so helpful. Doing this full time may look easy but as y'all pointed out there there is so much that goes into this. I especially liked when y'all said there is no PTO and your days are easily twelve to fourteen hours a day six to seven days a week. Being self employed means doing what ever it take to get things done.

Healthcare coverage is the one and only reason I haven’t left my current FT job to resell full time. Ha and PTO…. I can take a day off from FT job and get paid while working on reselling. Sigh…. Soon soon.

I just do part time. I have a retirement so no pressure to pay the bills. You have to like to do the reselling thing or you wouldn't do it. Lots of work. Good advice for newcomers.

I feel the space issue.. in a small 2 br here. my kitchen is stacked, my office (now ebay room) is packed.. plus shelf unit in LR, hav sutff in hall and now listed stuff in my BR... Take pictures in LV on card table. Use the little storage area on patio. Now trying to get all Christmas stuff out of here. I do a lot on FB market also to get it quick. I'm trying really hard not to rent any storage.

Do you ever purchase clearance from stores for inventory? When our Walmart was remodeling they were selling things like Lego sets at an 80% discount. Other great deals of that nature can often be found.

people that cannot have sheds in their yard can you have a camper? i am lucky I have built a 40x104 and a 40x88 sheds out back but I also have 3 36-38ft. campers out back that i have ebay stuff stored in. campers can be cheaper than a storage unit if you are allowed to have 1 in your yard.

I hear lots of people on RU-vid saying high sell through rate items. Where are they? I’ve been selling for years most stuff you can buy cheap are garbage items. That’s why eBay is such a grind if it were that easy we would all be millionaires.

I, also, wished I known more about taxes when I first started out. I jumped right in and started an S Corp. Early the next year the IRS fined me $1400 dollars for filing late! I didn't know with an S Corp. you have to file in March, not April. I got the tax man to drop the fine but agreed to never do that again. Got my attention. Wish I knew that before, lol.

At this time of year, I would do time away mode. I usually add a message as to when I will ship. Otherwise, you will have people screaming that you haven't shipped fast enough. The sale should counteract the time away. Everybody is looking for a deal. Enjoy your family time!

Depending on how you structure your S Corp, yes the cost of health insurance technically comes out of the company as a business expense for owner/operators. When we started our business we were deducting it from our payroll checks until we found a competent CPA. Now, our health insurance premiums are paid for by the business, still technically taken out of our profits, but not directly taken from our paychecks. It’s a menial difference, in my eyes, but makes a difference at the end of the year.

You might not get pto but when you want to take off and do something you can when you are self employed. years ago i went to visit my parents friday morning and dad said the timeshare never got rented for this coming week and asked if we wanted to use it. went home told the wife and less than 2 hours later we were on our way to Sanibel island for the week.

Awesome video full of great info (as usual)! But before people get freaked out and give up on their dreams, know that a good CPA can take care of taxes and setting up your business. There are tons of free resources to help research health insurance. So, as scary as it may sound, don't be afraid. There are professionals out there that can help with everything. Sometimes for free! Thrift shops like Goodwill and Savers make 100% profit on what gets donated then sell. The CEO of Goodwill made over $2 million salary last year. I don't understand why people buy from these retail stores and make a missly profit????
