Definitely weaker with the regular Broncos...not an issue at all with the Braptor which has much stronger tie rods and steering components. But his point about using front lockers in the wrong spot is valid and not many other vehicles with IFS have front lockers....Bigger point buy a Braptor lol
My coworker folded the tie rod on his Bronco pulling into our parking lot at work the second week he had it. The Braptor has different steering gear than the normal models, saying you have no issues with yours means nothing to everyone else who doesn't have a braptor.
Sooo he broke a tiered pulling into a parking lot. So is this parking lot in the middle of poison spider? I’m going to call BS on this. I have had my Badlands since 21, been on numerous obstacles and trails and lol I’m still intact. I dam sure never broke a tie rod on ANY vehicle pulling into a parking lot. Stop it.
I call bs I have 2 bronco I wheel my base bronco hard er the most. My base bronco is my play toy. No lift and a true 35 in tire no lockers . I bet my old Kia shortage on 30s seen more aire time then most raptor back in the day .
You know what rovers and g wagons can do. Full size trucks,4 runners, FJ cruiser, etc. Many of these never got any stereotypes of weak tie rods.... Use as advertised+underdeveloped design=breakage
They also don’t come with a front locker or 35’s, and most who do those mods already have some off road driving experience, and thus, are less likely to drive in a manner that breaks parts. That’s the impetus of this video.
So your reasoning is that you shouldn't use the front locker,? So what's the point of having it? And bouncing may happen and break your tie rods without giving you an opportunity to back off. And large scrub radius is a problem for solid axle rigs as well as IFS rigs (as well as bouncing). Fact is that the tie rods break way too often for broncos and there's aftermarket solutions for that. This video is misleading. Looks like it's made more to stir a storm in a teacup for the Jeep vs bronco argument.
Matt, love ya man. But you and I both know the tie rod and steering rack on the broncos are a huge weak point. Seen them break on the smallest of obstacles. Also, no clue why Jeep guys even give a shit about comparing broncos, they’re two different vehicles with two different purposes.
I don't think it's a catch-all though. This video simply states that weak tie rods and bad driving aren't mutually exclusive. Both can be the case, but only one is taking all the blame.
Well the Chevy zr2 isn't having as many problems with tie rods........ sooooo really they are just weak.... can't use front locker made me laugh so hard! Serious dude? Hahahaha😂
Ha, you're talking about a Chevy for off-roading? Seriously, since when was Chevy known to make an decent with plenty of aftermarket support like the legendary Broncos and Wranglers. Get your head out of the sand
@husker_nation a Ford off roading is a bad joke that shouldn't be as funny as it is hahahahaha... a wrangler is the way to go I just mentioned the zr2 because it has IFS front suspension and it hasn't broke like ford's have.....
@@willrector9716 The Wranglers are better at rock crawling, which is a minute people who do that extreme stuff. The IFS fails when people don't know how to off-road, when they modify the Bronco without thinking about everything else they have to modify. If you off-road the way the engineers intended, then one wouldn't have as many problems.
The videos you show, claiming the driver was turning, which broke them, didn’t break any of those. They simply broke, because they’re weak. The bouncing you show is so minimal and the tie rods immediately broke. These tie rods have been breaking, since before the release of these these vehicles to the public. When I looked at how small they were, it was no wonder to me why they break. You denying they’re weak is as bad as if Ford’s engineering department is telling management it’s not their fault. It’s an inadequate design. I’m waiting to hear the recall.
Great info. It is just like with racing. Whether you Drag or Road, driving skill is the most important part of the activity. The same goes for Off-Roading. I have seen a lot of people with built RIGS break them because they simply do not know how to drive them for what they are doing.
Your basing your conclusion that the Bronco tie rod failures are from driver error based on data that you collected driving a Raptor with completely upgraded steering components? Nice work
FYI the Bronco Raptor and Wild Track have the hoss 3.0 system now. In fact on all sasquatch package broncos FORD has now included the Hoss 3.0 steering system. Oh and the 4 people I know that broke tie rods while off-roading didn't have the locker engaged. The entire rack is the problem. 74 welds version fixes the problem. But hey everyone have there own thoughts on this subject.
Do not agree that driving habits an excuse for design flaw. Yet, I wonder if people who say ‘don’t buy Bronco’ or ‘my Tacoma with 200K laughing…’ are getting paid by Stellantis, Toyota etc.. or being under pressure to buy Bronco?
This is just a 13 minute excuse for why the bronco can't do what it was designed to do. When in reality the only reason is that ford made the steering components too small for what everyone knew bronco owners were going to do with them. Which is put bigger tires and wheels on them, and use their lockers off road to prove how they are just as capable as a Jeep. Funny how we don't see Chevy ZR2 Tie rods folding up since it has IFS and a locker, even tho full size Chevy tie rods always fold up at truck pulls. It's almost as if Chevy learned something, or are ZR2 drivers just much smarter than bronco owners? For the record I am a Jeep owner. I have less than $15k in it, and recovery stuck broncos with it every weekend.
I'm glad you went there. It takes a SIX INCH LIFT and 0 offset wheel just to fit a 35" tire on a ZR2. Square wheel wells were another one of Chevy's bright ideas. And not too many of those running around the trails...in fact, I've personally never seen one in anything remotely considered as a rock-crawling trail.
Maybe Chevy figured out that bigger isn't always better. If you don't understand this ask your mom. She'll tell you that being bigger doesn't mean the most capable. In my opinion you're much better off having smaller tires on your not broke down trail rig , than bigger tires on your broke down trail rig. Square wheel wells? Really? Only a bronco fan boy can be stupid enough to bring up wheel wells when broncos are one of the ugliest vehicles to ever roll off a showroom floor. The fender flares look like an afterthought, like something a 17 yr old ricer got off the clearance isle at pep Boys. You've never seen a ZR2 on the rocks? Maybe if your rig was more capable you could get to the difficult part of the trail where they hang out. I've never seen a bronco accomplish a difficult obstacle without breaking something, so I guess we're kind of even there...
@peaksuspension9529 Sure they do... I just Googled ZR2 broken tie rod end and came up with ZERO results. I found ONE on youtube. I switched ZR2 with Bronco and dozens of results popped up.
We make tie rods for the ZR2, every generation as well as own both. We have been doing this since 2017. We still haven't broken our tie rods on our Bronco and have taken it everywhere@@bdd1469
It’s not hard to conclude the actual problem is manufacturer error. They’ll be forced to recall them after so many failures. Big tires will bend the inner tie rod or link between them before they cause active rod to break, old bronco 2’s didn’t have a problem and even the exploder series survived with bigger tires.
The bronco was made for 35s and 2 to 3 inchs of lift . Sas models 2 in and the base shock is 3 inches. Both of my broncos have 35s one is a base and the other is a black diamond. Both have no lift. Most of the time its driver s using lockers at the wrong time. The biggest problem is that they leave it in drive and not put it in first. I use the hell out of my crawl gear when out on the trails. The a trac system will fugue it out and just crawl . To you jeep guys i broke many of them over the past 35 years
When I left Tomball, Texas a year ago there were over 10 Ford Bronco's on the KIA dealers used lot. When I heard about the new Bronco engines failing it all made sense, $70,000 vehicle D.O.A. 2023 Ford was the most recalled vehicle on the road.
Lol.. it's funny everyone mentions engines blowing up on the bronco, it was bad rods on a batch, it hasn't been a thing in a while.. recall on ford or the bronco? Get your facts straight and stop spewing bs on the internet..
Here is a suggestion…you only get known for weak tie rods BY HAVING WEAK TIE RODS. Blaming it on driver error is an excuse making endeavor. I’m not a Bronco hater, just build a quality offroad vehicle if you are going to market it as a “Jeep Killer”. Just please….
Had a 91 Bronco XLT, drove it all over the back roads of Tahoe. Pulled 18 wheelers out of burms. If i had to chain up, wasn't going. Studded snows worked great in the snow. Mind was manual lock. Drove the rear end out of it. Had it till it started idealing at 35 miles an hour. About ten years or so. Damn i miss that thing. So much fun. Ford backwards is Driver returns on foot First on race day F**k over rebuilt Dodge, heard them all. Give me a Bronco any day..
I own a 2020 jeep gladiator and a 2024 ford raptor bronco i think there 2 great trucks they both have different purposes don’t be a hatter jeep guys lol
Just leave the Bronco at home and 4 wheel in a JEEP or you could just use GOAT mode GetOutAndTow when those cheesy tie rods break FORD owners always have to make excuses for inferior vehicles . Remember the PINTO 😅
Sorry bud, your incoherent ramblings have no value and are just a simple attempt to justify your purchase while thinking “Ford why didn’t you give it a solid axle?”.
I own Bronco and do agree that driving habits are not an excuse for design flaw. Yet, it make me laugh when people saying ‘you need solid axle’. Owned H1 for entire decade. Independent suspension all around. Knew number of guys with the same truck. Don’t recall broken tie rods.
I happen to be selling a bridge...it overlooks a beautiful ocean bay in Arizona. I need to unload it fast, NY Nigerian friend needs surgery. I was thinking that since you are such a suckered because of that comment you made in this post I could get a few thousand dollars off you....what do you think? Do we have a deal?
@@zrvpvo8789 I'm too smart to do so... also, watch the videos of crash testing on that thing, it squashes like a tin can at 30 mph it's a death trap... so stay away from it, oh yeah , your welcome smart ass
Well that's some bulshit statement you made okay those people who buy the Jeeps now they buy them to drive around in the suburbs or to the market but the hardcore gestures from the 1970s and the 80s had them off-road more than you could possibly think and even into 1990 the Jeep and the Land Rover and the range Rover have a military history the bronco does not hey I'm a Ford guy and I like Jeep and Land Rover range Rover and even the new import from Mercedes I believe that have portal axles it could be a very poor quality
I own a 2020 jeep gladiator and a 2024 ford raptor bronco i think there 2 great trucks they both have different purposes don’t be a hatter jeep guys lol
