Wearing Clear Plastic Jeans For A Week 

Hello friends! What do you guys think of these pants?! Just to be ~clear~, I ordered these pants a few weeks ago (you can check my twitter timeline) and wanted to wait to wear them at Playlist - and I'm so glad I did, because I had a great time and I loved sharing them with you there! I'm not going to stop tweeting and instagramming the videos that I'm planning, because I love getting your input and talking with you guys there - but I'm also going to take the time to make my videos as good as they can be and not "rush" them out just to be first out of the gate. I hope that makes sense! Love you all, and it's back to editing for me as I have another big video I'm working on for you guys (if you remember Tyler's thrift store vlog from a while back!). I love how committed Safiya is when she does these videos. She actually wears things out and pushes the limits of her comfort zone. Other RU-vidrs would probably wear them for a few hours at home and spend all of their time complaining. I love that Saf actually looks at the particular item as a challenge she must conquer. 💕💕💕

I saw a woman wearing similar pants standing outside a roller disco in suburban Minnesota in 1981 or 2. Yes, these are actually retro! Those pants back then had non-fogging vents to avoid the condensation problem.

I love how a lady at the store told her that the pants reminded her of the 60s and 70s, and then Safiya went and did like a whole research paper on the topic.

I love how saf never clickbaits, if this were some other RU-vidr they would've titled this video "THESE PANTS TURNED THE WORLD AGAINST ME?!?!?" But safiya has a true title that describes the video and she still gets many views. I truly respect this characteristic of safiya

Those plastic jeans may actually be useful for me. I go to a uni in a city where, when it rains, basically turns into a big lake. If I try riding my bike in the rain, my trousers get soaked. These seem like they would be a raincoat but for your bottom half.

I think they actually work really well for a "nightlife" look; the reflection of the light makes it pretty cool. The camo and the fishnets worked pretty well

I never noticed this earlier but at 8:27 Safiya says she likes the camo pants and right after a man wearing camo pants walks by with a confused look 😂

I like that she gave a mini history lesson on clear clothing for this video it was really informative and I feel like I know more than just how the handle now!

I think this is my favorite "ugly" clothes video so far. at first I didn't like the pants but the with the date night out fit and the universal outfit they really worked. Great job on styling them so well!

I always loved Saf when she worked at Buzzfeed, but now she is my favourite RU-vidr at this moment. She is so committed, happy and in a month or something, she'll most likely have 2 million subs! I realize this video is old, but I only just discovered Safiya. In the late 90s/early 00s, I wore plastic pants all the time. It was the look then. Like a black top with a plastic see through red cross or heart over the chest, black plastic/plether/vinyl pants latex body suits, etc. so really I just see this look like a natural progression down the gothic chic avenue of my youth. They stunk. They sweated, stuck to my legs, made noise. Here’s how that was fixed: 1. Butt deodorant. Yep. I’d just grab a second stick and dedicate my old spice to my pits, and secret to my butt crack and under cheeks. I know. This is shocking. You can also apply it between your thighs to prevent sweat chafing. The odor and sweat is cut down dramatically. 2. Baby powder on your thighs. This makes taking them off later a breeze. 3. Baby oil on the pants between the thighs. This muted them, and the only sound was the bending and creaking, which is more manageable than the rubbing. 4. Sheer hosiery. As a Hail Mary, if the day was particularly hot, hosiery on top of the other three steps did the trick. I used to dress like this everywhere, even Disney land, in platform boots, even. You find ways of making it work when goth is life. I personally liked outfit 5 the most. I also feel some holographic hosiery would look good, as well as just full tattooed legs (if you have it, flaunt it).i could also see them being exceptional with layered, and a flowy top, maybe a gypsy cut silky something falling off the shoulder and some docs. Now, watching other videos, I already know the fate of the pants. It was definitely the chlorine.

I feel like if these pants were tinted a neon color, they'd be more wearable. Like I can imagine a hipster instagram look with neon orange plastic pants with the fishnets underneath. You really have to go big or go home.

When I was in high school, I made snow pants out of duct tape. They did not breath at all, which was both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, they provided great insulation against the harsh New England winters; they were almost completely immune to wind chill; I went skiing in them once and it was great. On the other hand, they could get pretty sweaty at times.
