IMPORTANT #1 apparently I put the rear guard in wrong. figured this out due to some helpful comments. that being said the way the AVS fits is still really weird even when done correctly so whether tec still wins. plus it still hits on the front window which sucks. ... #2 just because avs do not fit my car doesn't mean they are like this for ALL CARS this is just my experience. hope this helped some of you!
Thanks for the pointer on peeling off the weather tech sticker. I just bought these window vents and I peeled them off before the sun could bake them on. Rubbing alcohol seems to take the adhesive off pretty well without damaging the acrylic.
Great review man! Perfect. Read your updates as well, but the concept of the review is exactly what I was looking for. Gunna look at a few other opinions to gauged what is best for my 4runner, but this was straight to the point with just enough explanation. Thanks bro!
I just installed avs In channel on my 15 Silverado. Fit like a glove and can roll windows up with no issues thus far. They are much cleaner than the stick on so hopefully they last as long.
I never had the window issue with the AVS.It fits and worked flawlessly on my 4Runner and never had signs of falling off.The Weathertech however fell off multiple times driving on the highway and once at a carwash
I just installed WT deflectors on front and read windows. Just watched a couple of videos and it was done inside of 30 minutes. You have to fuss the deflectors a bit when rolling up the windows. There is a safety feature on most cars where it will prevent fingers from getting jammed when the window rolls up. The window will roll down automatically if it senses interference. So you have to roll up the window a bit at a time and then work the deflector away from the window as it rolls up. Gradually the window will roll to the top position. The WT deflectors look good on my car. Incidentally I didn't get these for rain. I live in Arizona. I bought them so that I can crack the window down a bit when the car is parked in the sun. Nobody will know the window is down a bit, and it helps to keep the inside of the car cooler.
Had the AVS in channel rain guard installed on my 2018 Honda HRV. Easy to install. Made adjustments as per video instructions on how to install it properly. Fitment is flawless. Apparently, you may have installed it wrong on your vehicle. Took me less than 15 minutes to install on all 4 windows and they look and function great.
I’ve installed both brands on various cars & trucks over the years & always need to do some modifications to the visors. Usually it’s trimming the ends with a razor knife.Getting them hot & flexible helps too. Or using a dremel to remove thickness or ridges from the injection mold. I haven’t seen a set that didn’t need some kind of mod to fit properly. Just installed a set on a 2020 murano that according to a RU-vid video wouldn’t work. They fit perfectly after a little massaging & heat.
I'm sure the results vary from vehicle to vehicle. I installed a set of AVS in-channel deflectors in my Ford E-150 van, they installed easily and performed flawlessly for over 13 years. I just traded in that truck for a new Ram ProMaster van but I don't think AVS makes one for it. I've seen mixed reviews for WeatherTech for this vehicle, mostly breaking during installation. The only other in-channel deflector I've come across is Heko. I haven't decided yet.
@@calebcnmi bahaha must me my complexion and spikey hair eh? I also sorta have a big personality I've been told so maybe that's it?? I've been told this before on yt AND in public haha
I recently purchased 2 sets (at separate times) of AVS visors for my 19 Acadia, highly disappointed with the install of them. Actually broke 2 of the driver door ones due to it not having any adhesive on the rear side of the visor. I took them back and just ordered the weather tech ones. I'm hoping that it's a much better quality product as it was about 50 dollars more. I feel confident that the installation will go relatively smooth. They seem to sell a good reliable product.
@Jay Tee - EXACTLY as you said! Too bad AVS is getting a bad wrap in this review due to lack of people not following the directions. My AVS rain guards fit, work perfectly and stay! Here is what Jay Tee discovered: "After watching this video and experiencing the same issue, I felt that AVS dropped the ball but they did not! According to the instructions the tabs on the front and the back end of the vent visor needs to be insert between the rubber and the post! An instruction I followed for my 2017 Buick Verano and they now fit perfectly and work flawlessly!!! You do not put the tabs inside the window channel itself!!! It is inserted between the rubber and the post of the window!!!"
I just had a set come with no instructions and contacted the seller several times with that question. No reply from them except to ask for the barcodes on the package. Watched several videos and they all put the deflectors between the glass and the channel strip. One brainiac even said to clean the glass but he didn't clean the channel. Al lot of bad advice on here but yours sounds correct
Bought avs.. i had same issue...could not close the window. I notice adhesive tape was too thick so i peeled it off and replaced it w glue... Works perfect now.
Just had to return the AVS visors for my 14 Ford Edge which were doing the same thing. My window kept hitting the edge then the safety feature would roll my window back down.
I had the same problem with the windows on my 2019 Dodge Ram rolling up and hitting the avs also. I will be ordering weather tech soon as a replacement

Thank you both for explaining this i just got done reading all the reviews on amazon about them and everyone had the same complaint that the “window wouldn’t go up all the way that you had to pull the visor to roll it up” and that “it cracked because of the window”
@@donnievick3076 no they are not. If they were that window will never hit the visor then go back down. I have had a new set sent to me from AVS and they fit perfectly. I got them after explaining what happened with my original ones. They even called me back two weeks later to che k of the vent visors are working and if they are and issues. As you can see I have had then installed well over a year now. No issues with going through the car wash!
I had the opposite problem. The AVS worked for me and fit in the channel on all three sides and the Weathertech version wouldn't fit. Broke one and had to order another one and it still wouldn't fit correctly. And ended up forcing a Weathertech in and of course my window wouldn't roll up.
2 weeks later Jimmy crashed his car and his rain guards purchasing decision didn't seem very important anymore. Here's to Jimmy! ...Don't be like Jimmy.
I have the exact same AVS visors and I just picked my car up from the dealership today after getting the oil changed and they busted the crap out of my driver side visor trying to roll the window up.
The weather tech vent shades are far superior in fit & finish then Avs. I had both of them and I ran into the same problem with Avs, I couldn't get any of the windows to close because they were getting pitch by the vent shades by Avs and yes I let the windows up for over 24hours.
literally same issue as I have a ford fusion and yes exact same problem. front could fit but window wouldnt roll up app the way. back visors were too long and Def didn't fit.
What this guy said 👇🏼 the weather techs that I got for my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ended up falling out several times driving on the highway so I would have to pull over and run back to get them. They would also make an annoying rattling noise and I would have to push the front ones in from falling out every so often. I went with the AVS visors for my 2014 Xterra Pro4X and the front fit perfect but the back have the same issue where the window won’t roll up unless you pull the visor back while rolling the window up at the same time. 🤦🏽♂️
@gary the weather tech brand was for my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I got AVS brand for my Nissan Xterra. Both have issues. The 3M tape probably would have worked for the Mitsubishi though. The AVS I feel like I would have to shave some of the plastic off the visor to have it clear the window. 😔
The AVS visors I got for my 2016 Corolla were junk. Kept interfering with the window rolling up and have to push each one out to fully shut the windows! Going through the return process now and trying weather tech. Got the husky floor liner for both inside and the trunk and they fit perfectly snug. Check them out. They aren't a hard try of plastic and should make removing and installing easier long term
Hmmmmm might need the trunk cover!! And yeah man it was so annoying to have to frig around with the plastic to close the window.... literally couldnt put your window up when driving
Because you installed it wrong most likely. He installed them wrong in this video. U dont put the corners in the window channel. Heres a link that would help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0irrokt-ujQ.html
For the in-channel visors, how does that rubber seal being pushed out (notice in the period between 5:15-6:00) affect rain from getting in the window - especially when driving down the road and forcing water back along the glass? I've only ever had the kind that stick on the outside of the door, so I'm wondering.
I've experianced both and I find they both work exactly the same! I just find the in channel looks cleaner. I've heard they can rip tint but I've never had that problem!
The AVS retaining clip has to be pushed in quite hard. Once you get the clip in all the way it shouldn't affect your window operation. I gotta ask....what's with the window curtains?
First off, how much cheaper are the AVS? AVS only came with front windows, so theres a cost change right there. (Edit: Didn't watch the whole video before commenting, my bad.) Plus right now I'm looking for them on a 2018 C-HR. AVS doesnt even offer them, Weathertech does. P.s. Been curious about reviews and how people have felt about the products. Had a 2013 Ram 1500 crew cab with front and rear deflectors and had no issues with them for 2 years and multiple car washes.
Bought two sets of the AVS! One of them for a Suburban and the other for Enclave. They don't have that Groove on the visors for the Suburban but they do on The Enclave. However. The fitment is purely determined by the inside of the channel of the car, and I ran into the same problem you did with the back of it catching on the window on the enclave! That was extremely frustrating! The problem is on certain model vehicles they have a soft rubbery seal in channel that moves in and out, but that's not good for the install of the visor. On the Suburban it has a firm felt inside Channel all the way up and down. So the visors we're able to stay in place but on other models that have that soft rubbery seal in channel. It's going to be a problem.
I installed the AVS on my 2019 Tacoma in 5 min following the instructions. Key point is follow the instructions. Clearly that wasn’t done. Your window hangs up because the 3M tape on the side was never attached. Installation error. Not product issue. Put the correct one in the correct window channel and they work fantastic.
I prefer the AVS stick on. My reason is I had both in channel and stick on. The in channel has a tendency of falling out after several years, especially if you use a drive through car wash. I like the adhesive. This is my opinion.
I've only had the stick ons. With the in-channel, if something ever broke the vent visor is it hard to get the part out that goes inside the channel? I have AVS on my Dodge Dakota and the original set lasted for about 15 years. I had to replace b/c I had paint work done and put back new versions of the same AVS - look great and seem just as solid as the original ones.
I tried to install the AVS on my Chevy Silverado and they don't fit properly. The first time I rolled the window down, the deflector went with it. They do not fit properly & I can't return them because I removed the plastic strip from the sticky tape. "Very disappointed" is an understatement.
THAT SUCKS! Where did you get them from. Luckly the guy on ebay I bought from gave me my money back right away. IMO i shouldnt matter. It doesn't fit your car therefore your product is faulty!!
I’m disappointed that you did not compare functionality. How well do they work? Do they keep rain out when the car is parked with the window down an inch? Do they allow air to circulate so that the interior is not an oven? Do they reduce wind noise when you drive with the window down? Etc.
Yeah I had the same problem with the windows going up all the way until it broke my window. So I just ended up ripping them off. I will just get the tape on ones not the in channel ones.
Weathertech for the win in my opinion, when you remove them or they break you are stuck with the goo from the 3M tape in the channel if you use the AVS. You dont want goo in your crack...
FYI, the back part on the rear visor does NOT go IN the channel. There should have been 3m tape on the opposite side of that tab and they stick to the OUTSIDE of the window frame. There’s an install video on RU-vid for your model year fusion and he shows you how to do it correctly.
Yes I know, it’s stupid, but that’s how they’re designed and how they’re supposed to be installed. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qS21cC5A8H8.html
I prefer the AVS Ventvisors. I don't like the in channel design. I have the visors that used the 3M adhesive strips on the outside. I had WeatherTech in channel, but two of them had snapped over time rolling the windows up and down.
I bought really expensive WeatherTechs for my Si. Kept reading how easy they were to install on their website. Not the case for me. Broke one trying to bend them into the channels. They replaced it for free but they've been inside a box for 3 months now because I'm not comfortable even attempting to try again. Really disappointed. Maybe I'm missing something but the Inside the channel WeatherTechs are not that easy imo.
You don’t have the front ones in right. You don’t put the small piece at the end of the visor, in the window channel where your window is hitting. That little piece of plastic goes between a small piece of weather strip and the frame of the door not the window channel. That way it holds the visor out of the way of the window when you roll it up. I just installed them on my car and works great and doesn’t hit anywhere when done right. All 4 windows roll up great!!!
I have a 2017 Accord Sport and I bought the Weathertech ones for my car. They look exactly for the most part like the ones in your video. The back ones had the 3M Tape, but the front ones didn't which is a huge problem. They don't come with any type of anchors to lock them in place. The problem with that which he fails to mention in the video and actually says incorrectly at the 5:25 mark in the video. So when I bought these I almost immediately had to have them replaced by Weathertech because they do come off. I didn't even have these for a week and was driving into work on the freeway at about 6:10 in the morning. I had my drivers side window rolled down about half way and the wind caught the guard and ripped it right out of the channel causing it to fly off my car and hit the grill of the truck driving behind me. I got the replacement set to which I only needed the one piece, but they sent me everything and I put it on again. Three weeks later the exact same thing happened again when driving home from work on the freeway. Luckily there was nobody right behind me and the guard just hit the ground and slid to the side of the freeway. The Weathertech ones look great, but the front ones suck and will not hold. Please be careful. I even asked their supposed customer service people if there is a fix to this and they have no clue and don't even really know much about their own product. If you can figure out where to just buy clips at or anchors then I'm sure you can figure out a Macgyver for it, but I as of yet can't find a place that sells just the anchors or clips.
Weathertech came off on the freeway. Oops.. but my miror caught it. If, the fit in the channel isn't tight, the in door/in window channel ventshade will come out. Avs different story. It's 3m tape, might come off or mebbe not. Just be mindful.
Good video and very informative. However you do not have the AVS installed correctly. That back flange does not go inside the actual window channel as you have it. The rear flange is designed to go between the rubber and the door post. This is the case for both visors(this also why the rear wouldn't fit at all). Thank you again for the good feedback though. If we send you another set, would you be interested in showing the install on your channel?
Adam Garrison This is the link I buy the part on pep boys... m.pepboys.com/product/details/20020526/00348/2003/HONDA/ACCORD/0/4-2354%25202.4L%2520DOHC?quantity=1
Can t go wrong with either one.The key is the installation and following instructions.Try AVS first.WeatherTech is more expensive, so try the inexpensive one first and if it works.....you saved yourself at least $50.
Your review helped me choose the Weather Tech product. Thank you! Oh, the curtains are cool. Great for those spontaneous"shagging" in public moments, eh? 😎😉😜
WHEN THE FUSIONS ROCKIN DONT COME KNOCKIN! Glad I could help haha!! They were nice to have when we road tripped and slept. Complete privacy! (Sun visor on front window rear tinted)
These will NOT work on Ford Fusions. I have the 2017. Some wizard in the comments below explain how they were able to install them because they know how to follow instructions not knowing that they probably fit in different brands. As per the manufacturer, “ you have to bump the window while closing”. That is not in the instructions.
I wished I would watched this before trying too install on a 2018 Kia Sorento. I broke the drivers side because of way it fitted at rear of the window. I thought I might of installed it incorrectly so I tried the passenger side. Same result. I’m going too get a refund. AVS just felt cheap and flimsy too me. I would of bought weather tech too begin with but they don’t make them too fit this vehicle.
@@joshruiz4575 Yes, I have one that I picked-up from Lowes Hardware that's held up for alm,ost two-years, but I would be the first to conceade that most of the stores I listed aren't at all quality anything. Plus, depending on where I lived and/or what my daily job was, I probably would invest in something better. For example, I can buy a pair of workboots at Walmart for $20, but I usually speend $140 plus, on a pair and replace them every 4 or 5 years:)
