After all those years he doesn't seem to posses any special insight on his competitors. Thats very surprising.

Doesn't surprise me. Ballmer has always been without a clue. His greatest success was DOS 4.

well maybe apple is doing more money cause some CEO laughed about a phone without a keyboard
@brettdawson3257
@brettdawson3257 3 года назад
Or it's because Apple made a truly revolutionary device that everyone had to copy for the next 5 years in order to catch up

@@brettdawson3257 well no. If he didnt laughed about it MS would maybe have a phone buisness

@@unknownuser3736Windows Phone would have failed even regardless of whatever Ballmer would or wouldn't say or do (at the point when iPhone was released). they were just too late to break into the market.

Haha "definitely not Amazon's hand"... that comment didn't age well (as Amazon currently absolutely dominates cloud computing, pioneered and dominated the home device market with Alexa and is poised to use both to enhance their central juggernaut business of e-commerce through along with companion Prime membership). Even more so, his definition of each company's value proposition proved to be incredibly myopic and unimaginative less than 5 years later. Through this small analysis, one can gather why him and Bill Gates had an existential falling out.

You have to put that into context : earlier in this interview he said that by his definition of a business company, Amazon isn't one since it still doesn't generate revenue ie. Cash

I think he’s looking at this from a tech point of view because Amazon back then was known for their platform not for AWS which still isn’t the best software that would b between Google and Microsoft so he’s somewhat correct
@adityag485
@adityag485 2 года назад
The problem is that with Amazon AWS essentially subsidized everything else they do because for the longest time Marketplace wasn’t profitable and they needed AWS to make up the difference ce

I see his point, but I would rather say: Short or middle timeframe: Apple Long term: Google

Steve Ballmer have no idea what he is talking about! How did he know Apple won't be in the market for the long term ? Steve Ballmer is the worst/one of the worst CEOs the tech industry ever seen. Not sure how this guy was the CEO of MS

He is from Microsoft. So don’t expect independent opinion from him. Warren played bridge with Bill Gates but bought Apple Shares instead.

The reason warren refused to buy MSFt was cuz he felt that it was morally and ethically wrong because he didn’t want people thinking he got inside information

***** Really? 'On track' is a 5 gig free iCloud that is full of security holes and doesn't work properly?
@edwardjohnston6286
@edwardjohnston6286 9 лет назад
***** ehh actually i believe icloud is very far ahead of the competition for consumer electronics. windows 10 only recently began treating onedrive as the backbone of all apps. Apple was doing that very very heavily last year already. even more than any other company. you can handoff apps seamlessly between devices all synced to the cloud and not making copies, and all the other stuff that syncs across devices.

Edward Johnston OneDrive integration has been going on for a while. Microsoft has services like Azure, while Apple doesn't even make a server OS anymore, and most of their servers are made by HP. The consumer iCloud is buggy and has major security flaws. 5 gig free is a joke whilst Microsoft are offering a terabyte with certain devices for two years. Where Apple will really struggle is their lack of search integration. Google and Microsoft have years in this field.
@edwardjohnston6286
@edwardjohnston6286 9 лет назад
***** Search integration, well I could give you that one. Microsoft and google are ahead of apple on that. But apple is never shameful of just partnering with google on that account to compliment their weakness, and google is just happy for the ad revenue.
@JonnyInfinite
@JonnyInfinite 9 лет назад
I think Apple would actually pick Bing over Google for search: after all, Microsoft already develop Office for Apple

oosh79 id say first Google n then definitely Amazon. Somehow Google seems to be this juggernaut tht really gets the future, look at google assistant and it's iot platform Android things. Google is gonna do what they did with smartphones, with everything else tht can be connected n then there's cloud, then hardware, Google waymo, crazy ai stuff, n the list goes on n on.
@adityag485
@adityag485 2 года назад
Nah it would be apple the problem with Amazon is that they other than Aws they aren’t profitable like Aws subsidizing everything they do
