Sounds like you have an intake leak, cold air makes the popping. Just my opinion. Nice carbs hope they work out you may need to play with the jets.

Did the float adjustment fix the rich fuel problem?

I ended up going back to SU’s in the end as I was having problems tuning the Webers.

@cheftush yeah they are a little hard to set-up but once they have been done they work well.

I am wondering with your starter issue, do you have a ground problem? If you are still running the electric fuel pump it could also also be affecting that whole situation. I'm pulling for you Dave! I'm in a similar situation of knocking my head against a stone wall every time I try to get the motor(s) working properly on the Goofy Cart.

Thanks George. I did check ground with a VM and it looks fine. I also added an extra ground to the solenoid just in case...no dice. I'm still running with the mechanical fuel pump at this time...thanks for watching and commenting.

Weber carbs are always a nightmare flooding poor starting and poor running

I take it you are not a Weber fan then?

Maybe learn how to tune them! Is that the issue?

Try these : www.weberperformance.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=228 Or these : www.redlineauto.com.au/p-4708-redline-52-110k-gasket-soft-mount-kit-dcoe-weber.aspx There are other brands that make them also, but they are primarily to stop vibration from messing with your float level, Have fun!

shoominati23 I have always used the redline type with a metal compression washer(kind of like a small valve spring) with good success. The rubber washers provided are good for a couple months and the plastic soft mount with the orings isn't as reliable as the redline soft mount
