I have used the flat side of the grill grates on my Genesis, and I can "testify" you can grill a wonderfully badass burger doing it that way.

OH nice and guess what a small magnetic handle would help you when picking up a hot bowl for a cover....I use them and they are dantastic

When you measured the temp of the grillgrate surface at 550 what was your grill set at, high I guess?

Try those grates without the flavorizer bars. I do that with the griddle and it heats much faster and uses less fuel.

FYI olive oil's got a lower smoke point about 400 F. than other veggie oils...your ir temps were 550+.

You should try spray Avocado oil, I use it on my grillgrates I've also cooked fish, along with burgers on the flat side.

Olive oil can make the grillgrates sticky over 400 according to instructions

OK last one I usually do my smash burgers on a cast iron griddle that I have but I did just get my grill grates do you think I should stick with the cast-iron for smash burgers or do you like them like this with the flipped grates?

Compete Now WordPress Tutorials You can do both, Cast Iron will most likely work better because it retains heat longer than aluminum. Try them both and let me know which is better. Thanks again!

Turn grill into infrared?? Infrared is 1200 plus which will warp the grill grates..

Not true. Infrared has to do with wavelength, not temperature. And I have proof. If the army can see me on an infrared goggles, I know I'm not 1200°. :-)

Thanks for the videos. Could you do a video doing some ribs. I don't grill large portions of meat, so I'd like to kinda know how much a two burner grill can handle. Right now I have a 18.5 in. webber kettle, and and charbroil electric bistro grill. I'm seriously considering that two burner and get the grill grates

+Mark Booth Gas grills aren't really suited for doing low and slow ribs, you're kettle grill using indirect cooking will do an awesome job doing ribs, Thanks for watching!

Because there are holes, the "grill flavor" still gets to the food. Your frying pan doesn't have holes :)
