Thanks for the great tip brotha! Did this put an extra grate on top and lined it with foil and put an old baking sheet on top. Worked like a charm! This thing makes great pies once you get past the learning curve.
Great in depth video showing the physics that make a good pizza oven. Namely, keep the heat in the area around the pizza. If I decide to purchase the rotisserie/pizza oven attachment, I will keep this video in mind as I modify the cooking chamber. Thanks!
Well dang, you used it better than any other video I've watched. NICE. You addressed the issues that others missed, and you didn't overload your pies. NICE WORK, SIR! I do believe that this setup is going to work for me. Thank you for making the video. I'm going to go ahead and order it. I'm going to buy the permanent Lavalock griddle do deflect the flames. I'm also going to put a pizza pan on the top on top of the griddle as an additional heat sink. I'm also thinking to buy a used Weber off of Marketplace to use for the pizzas since I'd like to keep my paint in good condition on my present kettle. Did you have problems with the paint on the kettle with the extreme heat on the bottom part?
The kettle finish is very durable and I haven't noticed any damage from the high heat, I did notice the sweeper blades were warped after using it a few times but it may have been from not using a drip pan when cooking 2 zone and net scraping the drippings between cooks. I really like this combo attachment and use the rotisserie a lot. Check out my Al Pastor video for the rotisserie. Thanks for the feedback.
A pizza oven don't have to be round nor a dome. it can be like a Char King square grill to, it can be made from bricks what ever you want Mine only cost me 1 18"X 18" piece of porcelain floor tile for he heee 68 cents
Great Video...!!! But I Have A Question... The Top and Bottom Vents Are Wide Open When Cooking.... Correct...??? Just Purchased This New Pizza And Rotisserie Kit For $40...!!!
I built one to. CHEAP AND VERY EASY, I wasn't going to spend lot of time and money for a dam pizza oven. So i made one. That would work out my Weber Grill. All i do is place a pizza stone in or out of it. EASY! Got a piece 18"x18'' porcelain floor tile, and cut to round to fit inside the weber, then made 3 ~ 1 1/12" holes across the side, for heat to come up. i just turn the grate over where it fits flat. Lay the tile on the grate. That it ~ Told ya it was cheap and EASY ~ Not just 12", 14" 16" pizza! but i can make 18'' pizzas YUM> It only took about 30 min the make the pizza stone ~ course i all ready had tile cutting table, bits and things Plus that all a pizza stone is? a porcelain tile that is cut round >>> THAT YOUR PAYING OVER 45 bucks for. THAT CRAZY
