From the musical source to our ears, a series of events must take place in a specific way to perceive that musical event as sounding real. How well that journey happens, the role of the speaker, its dispersion, its interaction with the room, and the rooms acoustics are critical to how we can be transported out of our listening room and into the symphony, club, or even studio. Without attention to the role of the speakers you choose, the room, and the way sound reflects off surfaces to influence our ability to recognize it as a small listening room or a large concert hall, we are not fooled. This session will explain the journey that take place to help our audience better understand the importance of speaker choice and how to make educated speaker buying decisions, the importance of placement and how we point the speaker to get at the real event, the importance of the room and how it interacts with those speakers, and finally, how and why we treat a room to do a believable job teleporting us into the musical event.

Anthony Grimani, PMI Engineering, Dimension4, Grimani Systems
Matthew Poes, Audioholics and Poes Acoustics

how about an episode of showing us how to interpret the graph (specially decay graph)? There is a lot of talk about making sure we don't over absorb and the decay should with within certain millseconds. Would be great if you can show us a few graph in REW and interpret them explaining what they mean and examples of where decay is showing over absorptive room and then another example that shows the decay of properly treated room.

Thank You!... Room acoustics are generally not recognized as THE most important element in building a high accuracy (audiophile) sound system.

Great stuff! Tony mentions he is sharing the slides with Liz to be published/shared online. Are those available yet? Or maybe that is going to happen after part two of this series? Looks like all the content about room measurements, what they indicate, and how to address them got skipped in the interest of time. I'm looking forward to the second session!
