I own a modest collection of eight air rifles, including 3 Venom/V-Mach Weihrauchs, a Theoben Evolution, and an Air Arms Khamsin, the early version to name a few of them. I deeply regret not buying a Webley Longbow because they really benefited from Venom's input. As you say, the standard of Webley blueing was always superb- outstanding in fact. I suspected that Webley did blueing for Venom, and I asked Ivan Hancock about that when I spent a day at Venom Arms in October 1989- thanks to, 'Air Gunner' magazine and Nigel Allen. Ivan confirmed that Webley did NOT do blueing for Venom. I would regard my collection to be complete the day I manage to add a Brum built Longbow to my collection. It's a really elegant, understated design- first class. It was tragic when Webley folded, a great name. I was a teen in the 1980's, born in 1970, I look back on that era and regard it as the zenith of the airgun scene. New rifles seemed to come out on a very regular basis from Air Arms, Theoben, Webley, BSA etc, then you had superb tuning houses like Venom Arms, and Airmasters producing beautiful bespoke tuned rifles. Today, the scene seems sterile by comparison to me- in much the same way as the cars produced today are soulless and dull compared to those from the 60's, 70's and 80's, PCP rifles have ZERO appeal to me. They are akin to a modern car-sterile, not involving to drive. I know quite a few people who bought PCP's and have quickly become bored of them, finding them too easy to shoot and therefore, not a challenge, most soon reverted to springers.

I can remember these for sale in the early 2000's. They were not expensive at the time and I kick myself now for not buying one! I wish I could turn back the clock and buy a number of them. Thanks for a great video, Paul.

I have a webley mk3 and a webley eclipse. Both of these are keepers but I love the fine engineering quality of them both.

What a great video! Just did a search on RU-vid for Webley Longbow and found yours :-) I actually have one of these which I bought back in 2001. It's in mint condition and have always kept it in a proper rifle bag. Just wanted to see really if they were still being made but you told me much ore than I already knew. Nice to own an original Birmingham made one. Diolch!

I had a Webley Longbow Sidewinder, which was lazaglided from the factory by Webley Venom and had a full length silencer /shroud to add a bit of weight. It was unbelievably smooth to cock and shoot. One of those guns I will always regret selling. I do own a Tomahawk that has been short stroked and a stage 1 venom kit fitted, but its no where near as smooth without the delrin buttoned piston. Still a beautiful gun though and the blacking is like a mirror.

There's one for sale near me, a Brumbow with the stock redone and they've added stippling, think I'm gonna buy it.

Hi Paul, Thank you for your great review of your beautiful Webley Longbow air rifle. It looks a stunning example. I find our interest/hobby sometimes rather frustrating in some ways. As we get more into our hobby and learn more, we often end up collecting air rifles and as I've found, they all shoot differently, its difficult remembering how each one shoots off the top of your head. Personally, I write cards for mine, telling me where to aim at ten, twenty, thirty, forty yards in which to hit zero. I wouldnt want to part with any of my pride and joys. That said, ironically, I do envy someone who for example, had an air rifle like yours, there. In pristine, beautiful condition. They love and mother it. They pick that same air rifle up every time they shoot They know it inside out and are fiercely accurate at any range. I do envy people like that. May I ask please, how would your Webley Longbow compare to a Weihrauch HW80K, all in all?? Thank you, Ian.

Well i hate to say it but the 80 does shoot a bit smoother but the longbow is far better looking and handles lovely

Can I ask where you sent the stock to?? I recently inherited an old Webley and Scott Stingray which has also been a bit neglected and the wood could definitely use some love! Thanks in advance

I have since new a .22 Birmingham Tomahawk with a factory Walnut stock, shoots very well, but cannot find any strip down videos for it, is it the same strip down as the Turkish version? do you know? PS also from new the PCP FX2000 in .22 and a .177 Raider.

Introduced in 2008? Seems odd to me, as I bought mine when the eldest was a young 'un and before his little brother came along in 2007. Pretty sure I bought it 2003/4

@@fieldsportcymru4636 I don't know for certain, but I believe it was 2003 they were introduced as the UK specific version of the Tomahawk that started production in 2000.

I have one of these. I’ve had it since 2004 must be one of the last Birmingham ones. I was having a go with it the other day probably for the first time in 5 years. After about 5 shots I couldn’t close the barrel, I think it’s to do with the latch under the barrel. Do you no of this is a case of just oiling it
