That's why certain details still matter too lol like lots of people would take pictures of the tables if they look good. Photography is important depending what kind of wedding your going for, you cant spend a bunch on detail and not have a good photographer other wise what the point.
@@MelissaBrowneIsZenn I think photography is important no matter what theme your wedding is. You want a professional who knows how to work angles and lighting to their advantage so when you get them back everything looks stunning. I think decorating tables can be done fairly cheaply unless you want HUGE floral arrangements at each one. But not every cheap photographer is going to know what they're doing.
As someone who's wedding pics turned out VERY bad. Friend offered for free.... definately hire someone who has proof they know what their doing. It still makes me sad to not have hardly any pictures and the ones I have are BAAAD!
We got married for around $1000. Rented my dress, hubs wore his dress uniform, flowers from the grocery store, printed our own invitations, Cake was a gift from my bestie. It was small & perfect!
I’ve literally watched over 50 RU-vid videos on how to save money with weddings and this is the first one that I’ve actually got so many tips and tricks from!
Cake hack! Literally don't mention it's for a wedding (the quote went from 250 to almost 700), go with an "unconventional" cake (we're using Nothing Bundt Cakes)
Awesome hacks!! I’m on a VERY tight budget. What ever I can do to make our day special, without going into debt is my goal! But above all else, we want to have a fun day with our friends and family! I just bought my dress today. It’s a $3,000 dress, and I got it for $140!!!!! Talk about a HUGE savings!!!
with flowers just go to Aldi the morning before, pick your favorite ones, trim and deleaf the stems keep in a bucket of water in a cool corner over night, then in the morning get one of your hands on friend to wrap wire around the stems then do the same with a piece of £1 ribbon off the market and leave the tails long, The wire stops it working it's way loose as it gets passed around during the day, if you are creative you could find a suitable vase in a charity shop and use your flowers for the top table center piece and even use your bridemaids ones for on the other tables.have a wonderful life together.x
one tip for favors is get little tulle bags or make your own and fill with birdseed and tie with a ribbon. it was a hit at my wedding. you can rent a food truck in town for food and eat outside which is a big trend. and she's right about the W word don't use it just say party. you can also buy two walmart cakes and stack them up. my sister did that. buy used party supplies from friends they have alot of as long as the colors match it doesn't matter and keep your cups and plates simple. no one cares what design is on the plate, trust me.
Serve cupcakes on tiered serving trays as the wedding cake. The tiered trays could be a DIY project & use as part of the decoration or as a center piece. Or a semi fake wedding cake. Only the top tier of the cake is really. The other layers are frosted Styrofoam & serves the guess sheet cakes. It's much cheaper.
Happy TX what is the point of pretending to have a big fake cake?! You only need a big cake if you have a lot of people, and if you have a lot of people and not enough cake for them all.... THAT is a big no no. In my country, that wedding would be talked about for ages, and not in a good way. Better to serve cheap cake in quantity. There is nothing worse than pretensions.
@@xz3024 The fake cakes are gorgeous, have a cutout for "cake cutting" and the pictures are STUNNING!!! This is what we plan on doing and serving guests sheet cakes...3 Tier cakes can seriously cost thousands, why bother when you can fake it for under $100??? The cake cutting is symbolic and a memory preserved in time...Sorry, you don't like it but please quit with the judgment of others who do!!!
I got married 12 years ago and We didn’t have a huge wedding and didn’t spend loads but wish I’d done a lot more of the stuff myself. A friend of mine is a beautician and hairdresser so as my wedding gift she did my hair and makeup. If anyone you know is in a trade that you can use for you wedding then rope them in. I helped a friend plan her wedding and we used Pinterest for ideas. We made room decorations, table decorations the lot. Saved money and made it unique. X
By far, the absolute best wedding advice I have found on the internet. Thank you, Becky. Thank you so much for your research, tips, organized presentation, and quick, precise, and unapologetic delivery. Thank you for getting right to the subject and sticking to it, not talking excessively about your own wedding, or your outfit today, or fussing over the lighting so you look better. (Some of these vloggers are so unbelievably vain!) You are a sparkling gem in a sea of rhinestones and this video was an incredibly refreshing find. Exactly what I needed, you have saved my wedding. Thank you a million times plus infinity! - Joetta
try groupon for photographers too, we got ours with 2 photographers for the whole day with all the images digitally and 10 prints for £200. ask venues about DJs, they often recommend some and they usually charge very small amounts too
Thoes dresses are normally so cheap because of unethical conditions and unsustainable production... why not a second hand dress for the bride? Thats how i got mine; 4€
I'm always amazed that more people don't opt for secondhand clothing in general. In addition to your point, it's like a fourth to a tenth the cost, and you can find some excellent things. Plus it's essentially recycling/reducing consumption
I found my bridesmaids dress second hand at a store we have in america called goodwill,it was $7 usd.its a gorgeous olive green that's gonna go so well with my haunted forest wedding.and my veil I found at another thrift store for about the same price, once I dye it the way I want and add the petals around the bottom like I want I think it MIGHT cost me $20,which is literally 1/10th of the price of the similar ones I found online.
I had a Disney themed wedding so we had figurines in the tables (which we already owned) & jam jar candles that smelled of Disneyland (donuts & candy floss). We had burgers & hotdogs in the evening. We were on a tight budget & still had a great day.
Good for Becky for posting this I had a wedding on a shoestring it was so exciting doing all the planning on saving reducing costs etc I loved it . No one remembers silly little favours etc
I'm on a budget too, and it's been really helping me to use silk flowers from the craft store. They have floral sales a lot, and I got $300 worth of flowers from Michaels for $100, just because it was after Christmas and before spring and their entire stock was on sale. Then I can arrange them ahead of time and be less stressed out. Also, I got these beautiful gold sandals that I plan to wear on my wedding day (I'm tall and my groom is short so heels aren't an option) from Payless Shoes for half price when the location near me closed down.
My little sister got married on a tiny budget also.. she decided they couldn’t afford a sit down dinner so decided to opt for an afternoon tea style meal. She also borrowed a dress from a lovely work colleague. As a wedding gift for her, I paid for her and her hubby to stay at the venue they got married at and for all the bridesmaids to get their nails and makeup done. It turned out to be an amazing day!
For the wedding planner subject, you can also look for new wedding planners that are looking for more experience. Most wedding planner starting out will be kind enough to plan a wedding at a lower cost or for free in exchange for credit for planning the wedding. This helps them build their brand/blog/ platform. Look for the planners who offer planning services in exchange for experience, Set up an appointment w/ the planner to see which events they have planned in the past, hire them a few months before your wedding to help you out! Offer them a meal and dessert for their wonderful support.
My wedding we did under 500. I made 4 big pots of spaghetti and meatballs, wedding cake cost $10 (cake mix and frosting) dress was $100 from China his tux was $70 rent and the rest into blah blah but it was very good
ryt1995 around 10 years ago my mom bought one on eBay and it’s still in such good condition I’m wearing it for mine :) of course quality’s changed since but I’ve still had some good results with them. Most common issues could be fixed like sheer fabric or threads. Just wear a slip
Yes Airbnb is amazing to have a wedding! Fraction of the price compared to paying for a venue. HOWEVER- the host CAN cancel whenever they’d like. Have a backup definitely. I’m renting out a lake house for my micro-wedding. & if the worst should happen and my host cancels I’ll be having my wedding on my moms backyard. We’re not inviting tons of people so if the venue changes we can easily tell everyone in person. Xx
This video is awesome! As soon as I’m engaged, hopefully not too long! I’ll be re watching for some ideas. I’ve been to so many weddings recently that they have obviously spent 20k+ on and I really don’t want to do that. We’ve just bought our house so all our money is going on that! Thanks Becky! C
Your very smart most Girls want their future Husband to spend like 25K or more on Wedding and they don't think about the future such as buying a House or having money left over just case thet choose to have kids
I'm getting married June 2020!!!! i have my dress picked out i know what theme i like i know which venues i want, i just need to make a wedding planner
This must be one of the best budget wedding videos that I've seen so far! Thanks for putting this together. I'd rather use my money on a house rather than the wedding so this is going to come in handy!
My wedding was no where nr £30,000 and was actually under £5000 including spa weekend hen do. But I was lucky, the church I was a member at let me have the church and hall for free, the pastor gave me her services for free as a wedding gift, my cousin is a florist so my cousins whole family paid for the flowers. Old friends of ours made a wedding cake as a gift. My two piece wedding dress was handmade by another friend material cost £80. Most expensive things were the alcohol, photography and wedding album and we had a barn dance as I had a Jane Austen style dress. We had a hot food buffet and we used my parents car to get to the church. And I had a fabulous day, our honeymoons ( yes we had two) were gifted a UK one from my parents and my hubbys friends had an apartment in Tenerife and wanted us to stay there. My ring is white gold and came from Argos at £50. My engagement ring was £150. Wish I could share photos on here xx
That's great for you but most people do not have so many people who will give them so many things for free. Its not really an accomplishment when so much was gifted.
My wedding was like this, his family church, did everything, Organ player, flowers, ushering and our side did flowers(brother) cake Nanna, Me, dad and Mum, school mate did hair and nails(pay back for being her guinepig)it was great
My summer wedding dress was from Asos. The ChiChi creamy strapless one thats on sale now. Feeling like a princess for one(!!) day does really not have to cost a fortune! :D And my husbands suit was from H&M.
Brilliant video. We did our wedding on a budget for £2500 and it was a lovely day. I didn't feel like we missed out on anything, we were just very lucky to have talented family and friends who helped out a lot, for example my mum made the cake, a friend decorated the venue with decorations from her wedding mixed in with some different bits we bough online, my husband's aunty is a florist and did the flowers as her gift, etc. We also did our honeymoon through top secret hotels on lastminute.com and stayed in a beautiful hotel.
This was amazing, I just watched it for fun. I am getting married in 3 months but it’s going to be traditional pakistani wedding with series of events on multiple days. For sure I was going to use the makeup hack as I can’t afford to have makeup artist everyday. I loved ever single tip. You seemed so passionate and did good research. Thank you so much very helpful video. Just subscribe❤️❤️
Mine was about 500 pounds. We married in a lighthouse for free and we had a 2 room honeymoon suite. We used the sitting area for the reception. My dress was from holyclothing handmade 50 pounds, veil was given to me , accessories where used, silk flowers on Amazon and he already had the suit, invitations off ebay.. Had a small 40 pound cake and a fancy Costco sheet cake for 15pounds
For everyone doing a budget wedding please refrain from going diy haywire and buying pounds and pouds of plastic gems, ribbons, shimmer and all that plastic stuff for your wedding. Those scattered "gems and beads", sparkled mason jars and gold spray painted bottles look horrifyingly tacky and are also just a way of creating more trash. Don't fall into the trap of over decorating. A few, more natural or actually useful reusable accessories (ex: use old mason jars or jam jars for vases, but keep them plain and keep the lids 'cause you can actually reuse them after that way, opt for pieces of fabric bunched or tied artfully that can be used after for your house or other gatherings as tablecloths or whatnot, a few branches or pieces of greenery picked off the ground in a local wild area) with an overall more minimalist concept make any event look much more though out (instead of a bunch of crap thrown together) and classy; plus you save money and trash! Think about it. Please don't use plastic glitter... literally the worst thing ever invented.
We call it a potluck in the american south, where everyone brings their own dish.thats what I'm doing for my wedding.these are a lot of really great ideas!
Nobody remembers the wedding cake? Not true. Everybody remembers if it's memorable. And what everybody remembers for sure is the food. We want food, lots of food :)
Great video....I learned so much and I'm so glad I found it! I'm an event planner myself and was also shocked at how these wedding venues & vendors are robbing people! My hope is that people will learn to get smarter at planning their weddings cheaper, this way the wedding industry vendors are FORCED to lower their ridiculous prices! I will be sharing this with everyone I know... Also try Ali Express for wedding dresses, flowers, favours, decorations etc... Shipping takes a while b/c the items are coming from over seas, so plan ahead and SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! Thank you for posting!
With jewellery, don’t be scared to go into antique shops.. the friendly ones in your local high street will probably surprise you with the inexpensiveness! The cost of jewellery is held in the first sale, you’re buying the brand and the cost of shelf space in a high street retailer. Go in to the little independents and explain to them what you’re looking for and you’ll likely get something with a story and a bit different. It’s much better for the environment too!
This was so, so helpful! There's some things I personally don't want to save on (photographer, flowers) but some things I just don't care so much about. I think I will save on invitations, favours and cake (doing cupcakes and macarons instead).
Our wedding cake was an Italian cream cake decorated with flowers. We had a pool party wedding reception. Bring the kids no problem. It's too hot in Texas to get dressed up in the summer. Thanks
Wedding!!! Yes yes yes! Please do a video on the dresses! These are amazing tips!!! My boyfriends brother is getting married this year and you are spot on. They are now going to be in dept over £30,000. In fact they are now so skint, they are DIY'ing bits for it as they cant afford to buy anything now! All that money for one day and for one peice of signed paper! Disgusting! I aim to have a cheap wedding but still make it as elligant as i can!
That's so ludicrous. Shudnt be going in2 debt 4 a wedding. A small registry wedding is sufficient. Don't copy those wealthy business. Their big weddings are like pennies coz they make so much money. Average person does not need 2 do this. That money shud be spent on something long term like a house
@@Ratisha_Official I'm not saying $ and £ symbols are the same. Just saying that some countries uses $ as a "money symbol" rather than a dollar symbol. In my country for example, we don't have a specific symbol for our currency so whenever we need a symbol for money(like say in a comic or something), the $ symbol is the one that gets used. That's all. Otherwise I'm all for people using the correct ones.
Please I NEED the link to that first wedding dress. Were getting married in 2020 and I’ve literally and fell in love with that dress 😩 please if anyone has the link to that dress I would be so so so grateful please
April 2020 here, congrats! I'm planning on getting my dress from jjshouse.com, I was searching youtube for real reviews on the website when I came across this with more helpful info
@philana cummings another tip is to wrap the flower stems in either florist's tape or cling wrap/glad wrap, it doesn't have to be the expensive stuff (the no-name brand will do)
My sister is making my cake :) I didnt plan the decorations I am either wearing my moms dress or buying one i found online for 150 canadian dollars. I am hoping my mom is good at hair, my sister is good at makeup and for shoes I am going to buy any shoes even if they are Ardennes shoes. Planning on having less then 100 people there want it in a backyard or I know which hall and church. I have a lot to figure out lol but I also have tons of time
TalkBeckyTalk what do u think of courthouse wedding? Just us, our parents,my grandma, and the photographer. After go to goldstrike or tgifridays. No big wedding or reception. We want intimate
My venue $0 Chapel $0 Wedding planner $0 Makeup $0 I'm thinking of spending about $200-$400 in roses and greenery. Where i am this is going to amount to an insane amount of flowers i'm talking about 1300 roses (i would be making my own arrangements) so since i don't believe in cheap looking decorations for a wedding i would put all those flowers to good use. Everything else i have to pay for. Those huge expenses are thankfully taken care of.
Goshh that exactly what I wanna do in my wedding even if I live in morocco and the weddings here are so costy. Why would I spend like 10000 $ for one night .And we dont need like one wedding dress noo we wear like 4 differents gowns :3 .Anyway im gonna plan for something like that In some restaurant garden and they can do the catering too . Thank u for the lovely video ,I defintely subscribed to your channel. Xoxo
