Queen Victoria started the “white is bridal” trend because when she was a young woman wearing white was a symbol of elegance and wealth because it’s so hard to keep clean! Before that there was no real “bride” color, you just kind of got married in the nicest clothes you owned. If anything, blue meant “purity/virginity,” which is why the Christian Virgin Mary figure is almost always painted wearing blue.

Once upon a time, women would wear the color(s) that symbolized their hopes for the future, if they could afford it. If they couldn't, they'd just wear their church clothes. Single-use wedding dresses are a purely 20th-Century luxury.

She also wore white because the wedding took place in the day (unusual for royals then) and was a public event to restore popularity to the very unpopular monarchy, so it ensured she stood out to the crowds watching :)

I did my friends wedding from mostly the dollar store. I only bought two things from Hobby Lobby and I used the coupons for those items. Everyone was amazed. Thought we spent a lot of money. Her sisters took all of the centerpieces I made home for their decor afterwards. Lol.

The wreath is so cute. I would of arranged the circles differently...I keep seeing Mickey Mouse/Disney. Queen Victoria was one of the first to wear a white wedding dress, if not the first notable person.

I love that Kelsey's can be re-purposed as a mirror again LOL but if she used the same flower or just any other white flower it could easily go as the same theme!! and my Becky's seems so easy to do yet such a vibe! I'm not getting married or anything but gonna have one hung up my wall just because VIBE! and u can change out the flowers if u get bored, maybe? WELL DONE TEAM!

White for a bridal color is a class system dating back to the royals in England. A white gown shows wear and stains very easily, so the wealthy were wearing white gowns as a sign of their wealth and that their dress was disposable.

So much stuff of mine came from the dollar store and Michaels!(They always have 40-50% off coupons, grab a bunch of friends and make them each use one to get full use!) All my favours came from the Dollar Store, little bubble wands that I wrapped twine around and put custom heart stickers with our initials on the lids. Cost us $40 in total for everything needed for 120 favours!

So, for people who don't already have all those other tools at home that you guys used (the saw, paint, wire, etc.), and who would have to also buy that stuff, how much would these projects ACTUALLY cost? They're beautiful ideas, but could get pricey really quickly.

I've seen so many of theses "DIYs" fail, because we're the ones who are called a week before the wedding to do it right. This project requires a powertool, paint, construction glue, the wood, and the spray paint. That's not usually dollar store stuff. This piece of whatever will fall apart at home or onsite, and if it doesn't, the guest names will be rubbed off before you display it on an easel (which is not listed in the dollar store haul). Come on ladies, it's your wedding. You can do way better than this -- even on a budget.

Stupid question, I craft all the time and I cannot for the life of me make a straight line! I use rulers, straight edges, mesuring tapes, literally anything straight I could find and my lines always come out crooked!!! Please help and save my crafts from looking crazy!!

I wish you had bought all of the items you used from the dollar store (or even walmart) so that we knew the actual price since I don't have any of this DIY stuff at home so it'll probably be around 50$ for both to be done which is expensive for non essential wedding things here. :(

Traditionally red was the colour of a bridal gown. It wasn't until royals started wearing white, as a status symbol to show how clean they were compared to the common folk, that white became popularised. Allegedly. I'm pretty sure it was Queen Victoria who set the trend.

White for weddings was a trend started by a British queen (I don't remember which one) she wore a huge poofy white dress which sparked everyone to want to emulate her, thus it became a standard. Before that you got married in whatever color you felt like in most of the world. Some places also use black for brides or other colors, depending on their cultural significance.

It’s white because your suppose to wait until marriage to have sex. White is the color of purity. Back then if you had sex before marriage you would pretty much be a hypocrite if you wore white. Also really cute stuff guys!

Wearing white to a wedding was a way to show off wealth - so you didn't just have an extra wedding dress, you had a white one, which was crazy expensive and couldn't been worn more than once.

So, white is the "bridal color" because of Queen Victoria. She wore a white lace dress which became the iconic wedding dress. She wore a lace dress because she wanted to publicly support lace artisans in the face of industrialization. White fabric was also a sign of wealth because it was difficult to wash and it showcased the detail of the lace.

I do like your videos, but you just make it look a little better then it actually is and that bothers me in a lot of your videos. I mean, yeah the stuff that you used is from the dollar store, but what about the machines used in this video, all the tools...some people might not have those just lying around. You make it seem so cheap, when it's not really that cheap.

fun fact: "White is Bridal" - since Queen Victoria wore an All white dress to her wedding - and that was just a way to flex all her wealth - at the time nobody wore white gowns - it was too difficult to keep clothing clean, a white dress suggested being worn only 1 time ever aristocracy and the wealthy do copy their kings and queens fashion and pretty much soon other ladies started to wear white too - also showing off they are wealthy enough to afford white and lace in their outer clothing the wealthier you were - the lighter and more pastel colors they wore - it was the lower class that wore dark colors that don't show the dirt and worn out

Whatever color is the theme color for the weddings I would add it to the flower decor on both projects... + Use a theme wedding color for a touch of color on the mirror ...
