Question of the day: Would you rather burn weeds instead of spraying them with glysophate? What's the best weed control/prevention in your opinion? What torch would work best for you, the smaller on or the bigger one?
Burning weeds sometimes makes them come back with a vengeance. I made the mistake of burning some weeds on my dirt driveway and left it untreated and I didn't know that burning things adds nitrogen back into the soil/dirt and they came back HARDCORE. Triple the weeds came back so burning weeds is cool for a immediate solution but untreated they came back full throttle! So i did some research and come to find out farmers burn crops in order to release more nitrogen and have better crops next harvest etc... I think if you have a series weed infestation id good with the larger one but make sure you treat with something or they will come and haunt you more! Plus i think its a clear choice for the larger torch... who doesnt love more FIRE!
I would say to burn the weeds and then spray as suggested. Perhaps you could also in some locations burn and then plant stuff so your plants get the benefits and not the weeds.
Thank you for the instructional video. It is precise and ideal for aiming at small weeds surrounded by grass I want unharmed. The flame does not spread out much as with other torches. So yeah, this seems to be my next purchase. Thanks!
Thanks, this is a safe alternative to weed killer spray. I recommend just burning them to see the weeds deform a little. You don't want to fully burn them to a crisp.
Thanks, it gives you some nice results. I've had some landscape experts tell me to just burn the weeds a slight amount and not to char them completely, for best results.
If you have dead or dry grass surrounding the weeds soak the grass with water first. Same if you need to get in fairly close to wood like a deck. Spray the wood down first with water. Good idea to have a hose close by in case flames gets out of control.
@@MarkThomasBuilder When wood chips are in the way, rake them out of the way. Soak the ground and wood chips, then burn the weeds. Then put the would chips back.
You don't need to burn the weeds to a crisp. Just enough until they start to wilt. So you could do the 3 leaf vines. You may have to do it a number of times. When the vine puts on new leaves.
Oh I neeeeeeeed this!!! I have bittersweet roots all over along with a variety of others in the Pine Bush of Albany NY. They are ruining my granddaughters play area in my yard. I am allergic to most chemicals and even dish soaps so getting a flame thrower seems better then sitting on the ground pulling out roots where a trampoline, Swingset and deck are in my yard. CRACKED UP at the flame held upward btw….hilarious plus quick and easy. Liking the smaller 1lbs vs carrying around a tank.
This is not the way it's done. First, you wet the weeds, then you burn them but just enough to boil the little bit of water that is in the weeds. That way, you don't need to use more fuel to incinerate the weeds, and you don't blacken the area as much, although the blackness goes away after awhile. This is the best way to get rid of weeds on rocks, walkways and driveways.
Mark, Listen to this! If you saw my instagram post the other day I had 6ft weeds growing under my deck unknown to me and one literally grew through the decking but first it wrapped under the deck around two pool stairs, and even squeezed its way through a glass table top it literally grew through the part where the glass meets the outer metal ring! NUTS! They are resilient almost like doomsday survivable crops if you will hahah great video!
My Aunt almost died when a neighbor burned poison ivy, she had to be rushed to the hospital due to the poison oils released into the air. Thanks for the video!! My method of weed remover is pulling by hand after a heavy to moderate rain ... hence, the need for back surgery!😂
Wow, that's a scary situation. I'll have to remember to try weed pulling after the heavy rain. I have a 7" stirrup hoe that I bought from AM Leonard. It works well for clearing weeds and it's not too bad on your back.
When I was a kid, my neighbor burned a bunch of brush that had poison ivy in it, and it's terrible, the smoke carries the oils, and they spread out on your skin more evenly. That was the worst case of poison ivy I've had
I JUST bought the Lincoln torch and was looking on youtube for tank adapters when I saw this video...great option! not sure if I shld return the Lincoln torch for this torch?! just want to quickly burn the weeds around the Lanai, driveway, etc Appreciate your content!
Fantastic except for the press button spark unless you can change the flint after it wears out. I have such a press button on a regular torch. After the flint wore out, a sparker would not light it. Replacing is expensive!.
dude, its not holding the piezo lighter down, trick is slow gas flow. everyone with blowtorches knows too fast too open it blows the flame out, not enough oxygen can mix with propane coming out, oxy acetalyn welders same... nothing to do with the clicker, you had valve open too much.
@@MarkThomasBuilder A lot of times the Walmart store does not carry what is on the website. TSV Propane Refill Adapter LP Gas 1 lb Cylinder Tank Coupler Universal for QCC1/Type1 Propane Tank and One Pound Tank Throwaway Disposable Bottle-100% Solid Brass
Thank you, the weeds are growing fast this spring. Time for me to get out there and control them. I've received quite a bit of advice saying to just slightly burn them, not all the way, for best results.
gly PHOS ate. Not GLY SO fate. PHOS BECAUSE OF Phosphate group: A functional group characterized by a phosphorus atom bonded to four oxygen atoms (three single bonds and one double bond). One of these oxygen atoms must be bonded to another atom; if not, the structure is a phosphate ion. KNOW WHAT YOU SPEAK OF LEROY.. It's no wonder our beautiful chemistry gets such a bad rap.
Thanks for the clarification. I know I'll be saying that word in an upcoming video with some new backpack sprayers I'm demonstrating. For the record, I took chemistry in college and definitely struggled with it. Marketing and business was more my fit, lol.
