Just wanted to say thanks for all your videos. I bought my first home last summer and the inspection report noted some mold present and batt insulation missing/falling. After doing research and watching all of your videos, my wife & I decided to encapsulate our crawl space since we plan on being in this home for awhile. Your videos helped me tackle the project with confidence and now we have a much more dry & warm crawl space. We decided to hire a local spray foam contractor to handle most of the work & I tackled the dehumidifier part myself (let’s be honest, that’s the easiest part). Thank you so much for all the info & helping us fix our moldy, moist crawl space!

Thank you so much for all the knowledge you kick out for free. You’re truly a blessing to us guys with young families that need to take care of our homes and save some money. You’re a blessing. I live in Va beach area and it’s really humid here most of the year. I had a drain pipe leak a couple times and my wood moisture content went from 23% when we bought the house, all the way to 17% in 2022 and now back up to 19% after a recent drain pipe leak. I have a loose laid barrier installed already. My crawl is 760 SF over a 2 story house. The crawl is 3” high at best. I just bought an aprilaire e70 and it gets delivered tomorrow. I have no standing water and good drainage as is. Here’s the questions that could save me thousands. Is it possible to perform steps 2 and 3 only and have success dropping the humidity enough to lower my wood / moisture content long term? Would you suggest installing an exhaust fan in this scenario in one of the vents and sealing the 4 others, or would this be counterproductive considering the size of my crawlspace? I consider this a partial encapsulation with the option to move on to the other weeks if it doesn’t solve the humidity problem. I’m guessing the dehumidifier will be successful just with the vapor barrier and the vents closed. Thank you!

Love your channel. So very informative. Our 1100 sq ft crawlspace is 4' tall on one side and 1.5' tall under our living room & laundry room. The living room has been having mold air count of 3000 aspergillus. No water leaks. Could the shallow crawlspace cause the mold count to be so high in that living room? We just had the crawl cleaned , encapsulated, dehu in place, sealed vents. Should we also clean the living room? Throw out the furniture? The rest of the house had lower counts of 800.

If you don’t mind answering this - how do you feel about sika pro select rmax foam board (aluminum backed ) as crawlspace wall insulation? Thank you for your time . Be safe out there ninjas!

There is tons and tons of great products out there. However we are unfamiliar with that. We usually aim for a foam board insulation with a r value of R-10 and Termite resistant

Can you discharge the condensate line into the French drain system? Our crawlspace has formadrain and I wondered if we could just discharge into it?
@CrawlSpaceNinja
@CrawlSpaceNinja 2 месяца назад
Yes that should be no problem. We discharge our condensate pumps into the sump pump. I don't see how it's any different since I'm guessing it leads to a sump pump so it should work just fine. Thank you so much for watching.
