For 2023 - equipment grounding conductor fill remains the same as 2020. 2023 - 314.16(B)5 (last sentence): A 1/4 volume allowance shall be made for each additional equipment grounding conductor that enters the box, based on the largest equipment grounding conductor entering the box.

I would go to mars. Get a clean slate and get to test my cool ideas where no one else is. I have no fears. Conquering my drug addiction taught me that fear is just being held back by oneself.

are you counting the first 4 egc"s as 1cu in? its my understanding they count as 1 based off the largest conductor. example. if all conductors are #12, then the first 4 egc's will equal 2.25. not 1.
@Electricalexamcoach
@Electricalexamcoach Год назад
Not one cubic inch, but one conductor and then I multiply it out by the cubic inch volume of the number #12.

at 6:54 your answer for MAX volume should be minimum volume being that is the name of the column...Correct..?
@Electricalexamcoach
@Electricalexamcoach Год назад
It's minimum for the manufacturer, it's maximum for you and me.

First slide about 2020 EGC says says "1/4 INCH" volume for each additional EGC after 4. HOWEVER, 2020 code says: "single VOLUME allowance" up to 4 and "quarter VOLUME allowance" (NOT INCHES) for each additional EGC Confusion with this question: 3#12 Hot + 3#12 Neutral + 1#12 EGC+ 3#14 Hot + 3#14 Neutral = 27.27 Answer '27.75' is based on 2017 code not 2020 Same example If 2020: 3#12 Hot + 3#12 Neutral + 1#12 EGC + .5#12 EGC + 3#14 Hot + 3#14 Neutral = 28.875 Is this correct??? Confusion with this question: 7#12 EGC Discussion says "1/4 INCH" but calculation is based on "1/4 VOLUME" Same with this question: 6#12 Hot + 6#12 Neutral + 6#12 ECG Discussion says "1/4 INCH" but calculation is based on "1/4 VOLUME"

Hello Coach, thanks for all the videos. For the 6 EGC #12awg, the first 4 is 2.25. Then 1/4 volume of 2.25 should be 0.5625 and not .25 Please verify, I could be wrong. Thanks
@Electricalexamcoach
@Electricalexamcoach 2 года назад
Yes the .56 is the converted number. but .25 * 2.25 is the same number.

I would not go to Mars for any reason. My greatest fear of taking the test is the time it takes to do the back and forth in the book finding answers for questions with which I'm not familiar.

??230.90 deals with overcurrent protection, and doesn't say anything about overhead clearance(47:33 last question)

At 29:32 6 #14 should be 2.00 which is 12+ 4.5 for 2 X largest wire which is 2.25...am I right or wrong here..?
@Electricalexamcoach
@Electricalexamcoach Год назад
Great question! it is based off the largest wire connected to the device

For 2020 EGC you should add 1/4 " to the volume not 1/4 of the conductor
@Electricalexamcoach
@Electricalexamcoach Год назад
I appreciate the angle, but it's the same math.
@jlgroethe
@jlgroethe Год назад
I think the 2020 code says to add a 1/4 volume based on the EGC size, not 1/4 inch. That’s how I read it.

confusing that your teaching the 2017 version of EGC.
