I had a busy Monday morning of shipping a few weeks ago. Dropped it off at the post office, ran a few errands. Got home a couple hours later and found a lone label sitting on my shipping counter 🤦🏻♀️ It was a $50 pair of jeans. I ran back to my PO and a lady at the counter I didn’t recognize started saying similar stuff as you... oh it’ll go to the regional office or get returned to sender. I’m like, how will they return to sender with no label? And it’s been only a couple hours, why would you send it off to another facility? I knew she didn’t know what she was talking about. Finally, another worker came up - one I knew very well and was friendly with. I asked her about it. She was like - Oh, I thought that might have been yours when I saw you drop off your stack. Here it is! And she pulled it from under the counter. Crisis averted, but I learned to never just take the word of the first person I speak to
Trump just put a new person as national postmaster General and he's put up a whole bunch of new things to be done with the mail, and that's probably what helped affect the mail in ballots for the election? Well. The goal is to get mail clear across the nation 95% within 5 days. But of course you know that's not happening just yet.
I love the fact you are willing to share your mistakes - proves you are human :) I had a FedEx label included with USPS items and the carrier notified me of my mistake and I then took it to FedEx office.
Had an amazing flip from this weekends sales. Bought a NASCAR Diecast for $5 and it happened to be a super rare sought after model. Sold for $200 within 4 hours of listing.
I've had good luck with vintage laptops. Bought an old HP one with windows 3.1 had a built-in pop out mouse. But it also had all original items, sold for $280. Got it for $10.
Don’t throw out the Elder Scrolls! Save it and offer it as “free gift” with purchase of another game in same genre. Price to reflect cost of both games. Offer the deer on FB market place but make it an “incognito” listing. Shipping that would be outrageous anyway!
Pro tip with selling boxes... I had this logistics problem with sending empty computer server boxes so I put one cd inside the box and shipped it media mail .. worked like a charm and only took about 8 days for a long distance 😆💿
Dude- that video game haul of yours was genius. I’ve never focused on gaming, at all, buuuut have recently started to work it into my focus after seeing the killing you’ve been making on resales. That’s exactly why I watch your channel...even as a seasoned Top Seller there is always more to learn. Thanks Tornado & keep ‘em coming!
Thanks man! I try to research at least one new category per week. I didnt really know much about video games when I bought the lot but I knew I couldn't lose money. Almost at 2k in profit and I havent even listed it all yet.
I hate that happened about the package. I always take my packages to USPS personally because I fear them not getting scanned! I use to get overcharged on shipping when I did porch pickup with USPS. Then once I started taking them into the place personally those extra charges stopped. - Hoping you magically find your lost package! - Loved the video!
If it’s illegal to sell them you may be able to get the store to take it back. I bought a pair of Gucci shoes that turned out to be fake and once I mentioned that it was illegal for them to sell them to me they gave me my money back
Wish I could find shoes in that good of condition. Thrift stores in my area sell shoes that should have been tossed. GW had a pair of Nike's for $35 that looked like somebody just cut the grass in them.
I love your videos! Some how your videos got on my feed and you got me into thrifting. Lol started my eBay store two months ago and it is so much fun to see what you can find at the thrift store. I buy nothing but printer ink at the store. No one picks them up. What a gold mine!!! And I bought 6 ravensburger games and puzzles not open! For 2 dollars a piece!!!
Hey Josh, I Almost gave a box to my postal carrier without a label. He usually scans it. When I take stuff to the post office I usually tell them to scan when they have time, especially when they are busy. I don't waste paper on a receipt. I trust them. ALSO, I'm glad you looked up the illegal deer sale. I have seen some types of deer that are illegal and some that are not. Thank you for showing us how you packed the tennis racket with 2 Priority mail boxes. I wasn't sure that you could merge 2 boxes of USPS boxes. I bought a 1932 train set at an estate sale for $50, it wasn't in good shape and NO ONE wants it. I also bought a $40 movie project from a neighbor garage sale and did not make sure it was working. The bulb was out and I spent $20 on a new bulb but it got SO HOT, that I was afraid it would burst.
New sub, your storage system makes me feel sooooo much better. Drives my wife nuts looking for a game in a 22 gal tote..............."I know it's in here somewhere"
Hey Josh. Mose wants no parts of that deer mount 😂. You can't sell it but you sure could do a trade up deal. It's more than one way to skin a cat. Love your videos keep them coming.
Thanks for your content! Thanks to this vid I was able to spot and pick up a new bright battery and charger at goodwill yesterday day that I can flip for $17 profit.
The USPS opened a large box I sent and with promise it was going to be shipped to me it wasn't. It's called theft. I would have paid any shipping issues. They don't care and I didn't believe their story.
I would send an inquiry to the PO box in Atlanta that they gave you. The USPS has long had a "dead letter office", but the place undeliverable packages go is called the "nixie" department, or at least it was during the decade i worked for the USPS. Where you have a major advantage is that you have good photographs of the actual item. Send them an email with printed photos of the item from several angles and as much detailed description as you can give, including the date you accidentally gave it to the mail man, the dimensions/description of the box (if possible) and the proportions of the piece. Include your phone number and email address, in case they can contact you more quickly electronically. If they are able to locate it(it happens!), they will likely return the item to you with postage due, but even if they charge you $20 for that, you can still recoup your fees by selling it for $75. Yes, you will have lowered profit, but it won't be a total bust. On the issue of the substitute guy, people have no idea the hideous levels of pressure under which most mail carriers work. It can be physically grueling, and all that is spiced up with the surprise element of aggressive dogs or random people on the street. Even if I feel they are not doing the best job or even a basic minimum, my default is to try to look kindly upon them, perhaps especially the substitutes. It may be difficult for the regular carrier to do their extraordinary workload in 40 hours, but it will be impossible for a relief carrier to do the same work in the same time, because they don't have the route memorized. Their days are LONG, especially in temperature extremes. It's a tough job, and the public is indebted to them. By the way, I worked in a huge processing center, and I wasn't a carrier, so I wasn't even the same craft as letter carriers, so I'm not being defensive. I love your videos, and I know you're a kind person, so I hoped my perspective could help you have a kind view of the carrier, even if he didn't do what he was supposed to. Kindness is never the wrong response, and our world needs more of that, frankly. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!
Here in SC, just leaving them ice cold bottled water will get you favors. A couple of times a week I take a frozen bottle of water, wrap it in a paper towel and put it in the mailbox for my postal person. I rarely have a problem. :)
I've thought about doing this but oddly enough I never have the same postal carrier. It seems like every week they alternate, never had that anywhere else I've lived. I do like the bottled water idea for the summer, though!
I was told by one of my moms friends who has been doing ebay for almost 20 years said with her experience, jeans sold really good, especially when she can sale internationally and named brand stuff.
Wow I’m really going to have to start paying attention to more items at Goodwill instead of just passing things by. You’re selling all kind of things and making good money. Subscribed😊
I am at about two weeks along. Learning a lot from you and other vloggers. 70 items listed, 10 sold, 15 items sourced today to list (that I never planned to source today LOL), and 135 DVD's I also sourced today that need to be listed also. I am debating how many I should list due to the limitations of new account. 1 Item sourced with damage I didn't see that I won't list, along with 1 counterfeit Armani Jacket that I can't list. LOL Woops! I thought about taking it back to the thrift store I won't name because they didn't do it on purpose but honestly, it is kinda nice jacket. Think I might keep it. LOL
You are right he should have scanned the package at your home. When my PO needs to be re-educated I always threaten to call the DC main office. Try it it works. If nothing else you can ask them to open a case to find the package.
One of my local thrifts every shoe worth reselling is always missing laces in one shoe. I am fairly sure its either an employee or another reseller that does it so they don't sell and they can get them at half price day.
I was thinking same thing. If its illegal he should be able to take it back and get his money back. NOT CREDIT!!! Sounds like sale should not have happened in the first place.
Legal here in Ohio only endangered critters are on the sales ban list bought a baboon several years ago at an estate auction but of coarse the girlfriend freaked out and nearly brained me since I’d put it temporarily on the dining table and went to bed. My better half discovered it that night she got up for a late night snack and wasn’t aware of the baboon sitting on our dinning table in an aggressive pose. Oh my the screaming and utter terrible shrieking noises that gal made jerking me bodily out of bed was just astonishing.
So I've used "sell one like this" and didn't know, and missed the free shipping. And I have listed things where it reverted to free shipping so watch that. I've also bought vacuum filters and had them listed foreva. If not lotted it is a bust. I've not bought a deer head but I get the risk. Sell a t-shirt for $250 and give a way a free deer 😉. Nice video. Very well rounded with info, shipping, shopping and uh ohs.
I hardly ever do free shipping but have learned that I have to check my listings frequently for some reason eBay decides I should have free shipping. I have had to change all my listings back to include shipping several times, Definetly keep an eye on your listings... eBay tries to change it for you even if you don't want it changed.
I just happened to see the sign at counter that said they do not except FedEx and Ups packages. Who would think they could drop off other shippers packages there? Lol! Its sad signs need to be made for things like that. Great video and informative as usual
That hard hat story made my heart race! What a bummer! I just made a video about something similar with USPS not scanning packages at pickup and taking two Amazon delivery packages from our porch on two separate occasions! So frustrating!
Atlanta Georgia is the mail recovery center for the entire US. Basically anything goes there after the post office gives up on it, which takes a bit. Atlanta ditches it quickly if there's no paperwork on the inside indicating an owner.
Josh, I'm local to you and I have been to a number of local auction where the auction made it very clear to everyone "we are selling you a piece of wood. Anything attached to it is yours for free. We are only selling you the wood." Not sure how sketchy that actually is or if all auctioner's would do that. You could contact one or two and see what they say.
Nice video! I grew up with a moose head mounted in our basement...I think we got it from a neighbor. My dad wanted it upstairs but my mom overruled that idea. Wish I still had that thing!
I work for the post office. And that's unfortunately how it goes when we get packages with no labels on them. Depending on how busy the office is and how often they clear out unlabeled packages, it can sit there for a couple of weeks, or it can be sent to the recovery center in a matter of days. And yes unfortunately, not all the mail carriers will scan packages when they pick them up. Did you ever get the helmet back?.
awesome stuff man, great day.... sorry to hear about ur kitchen. lol damn sign. great profit on those games man great. sorry about the package man. great video man
We had a problem w our carrier in the apts where I live. I searched the Post Master General. Holy crap, I got AMAZING results. She got on the big boss of this carrier. I rcvd phone calls, then a nice letter profusely apologizing for her behavior! My point is, if you don’t get anywhere w the immediate supers at your local PO, an email to the top top yielded super results for me/us.
This would be my first time to list some stuff in eBay because I am gated on them on Amazon. My question is how to list them free shipping when I dont know how much the shipping will cost? How do you consider shipping cost when pricing something?
Dang Harry your inventory is all over the place like mine. Glad to see I'm not the only one🤣🤣🤣👍 I always take mine to the post office and get the receipt. Because this happened to me before
Josh those socket looking things that you got in your package they are spark plug sockets for small engine or lawn mower because you can use either side of the socket....
I feel for you on the flooding ...ours did that last year a line broke up underneath the sink in the middle the night and we did not know it ...we woke up to get out of bed to step in 3”of water the entire house flooring was flooded they had to take everything up in all of the rooms well except one bathroom and a back room but the rest of the whole house was flooded that was a total disaster and mess... Plus thank you for sharing your information
Hi Josh, enjoying your videos and all the great information you share. While watching this video I noticed your giant shoe inventory while you were walking around. How many pairs of shoes do you keep on hand? Where do you normally buy them and are you getting any shoe sales these days besides the J&M boots? Thanks and keep up the great work!
I get them at thrift stores. Occasionally I'll find some at yard sales. This weekend was slow with shoes but I sell maybe 10 pairs a week on average? It really depends on how many I list. They dont sell super quickly but they will all sell eventually. And I like cleaning and listing them
I thought my city was the only one dumb enough with the Post Office that makes you open up 2 set of doors to bring your packages in. It's hard to believe that in a business that deals 90% with customers bringing in mail versus taking it out that their doors aren't push to enter. It's frustrating as hell when you have your hands full.
That's crazy Josh. A week ago, our water heater which is above the garage leaked all over the garage. The next day we were having a new water heater installed and a piped burst in our house. Ruined a large portion of our laminate floor. Insurance is paying for a new floor. So I know the pain. Our house is looking just like yours. Good luck on the new flooring.
Make sure to get your items scanned and get a receipt for them. Doesn’t matter the shipping company…UPS, Fed Ex, regular mail… to stop things from getting accidentally shipped.
Our kitchen flooded last year. Dishwasher was to blame and we even were awarded our deductible as whirlpool was at fault! Our homeowners was great and even bought us lots of take out meals.
Something you can do to increase the chances that you will eventually get your package back is to enclose that "Thank You" card inside every box before you seal it up - as long as your card has identifying address information. Something to consider the next time you have those cards printed up. Mine has a website address, but I can't see the post office trying that hard to find me. After seeing your experience I'm going to have my address put on the next batch I order.
I work for the post office. Our office does send them straight to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center. The online site USPS.com has an option to do a mrc search. It can be a slow process but if they have it they will return it to you.
Hey! Harry Tornado! You gotta ship out those console boxes flat! You pay first class and it’s super cheap overall. Don’t bubble wrap them and risk them getting damaged!
Josh, Even though I am in Canada, I googled "USPS postal service recovery centre" for you, you might find more info there ! Hope you get you item back !
Hello Hairy Josh, your package will be at the next USPS Postal Auction held in Atlanta off Fulton Industral Blvd which is west of Atlanta on I-20. I had this happen once and 3 days later I asked about it and they handed it back to me. Do you put a packing slip inside your orders? The will look for info inside the package so it can be returned to the shipper. Good luck!! Donald
Hey, I forgot to ask you, have you ever asked your goodwill or other thrift stores if they have a veterans sale day? our goodwill has 25% off on Thursday's. It really saves a good bit.
