@dietotaku there were also a lot of quick cuts in the scene that made it difficult to determine all of the choreography, so we had to fill in the blanks when learning the dance.

I think the fact that she doesn't need any makeup to be in movies and on TV speaks for itself. I love that she only does small roles that she wants now too. While you're at it, Steven Seagal and Kathy Griffin want you to answer the same question regarding them too. Fun fact, they both have been repeatedly invited personally by Loren himself to grace SNL with their presence but have repeatedly declined citing their busy schedules (like Julia) and the obvious consequence of accepting would damage their image and future career opportunities (unlike Julia).

This movie came out when I was a freshman in college, and I still recognized EVERY. SINGLE. MOVE. of that dance. That makes me realize how many hundreds of times I must have watched this movie on cable over the years. This one plus Sister Act 2... I'm pretty sure if we go more than 24 hours without at least one of them playing on some channel, the bus will explode.

This is the most interesting piece Chloe Fineman has had on Update. Glad to see her not doing impressions or wacky characters. Funny that the episode which mentions Chris Kattan has this as Kattan used to do these physical pieces on Update all the time. Julia Stiles actually hosted SNL and was a very underrated host. She said in an interview that she wished she could have hosted again, so I'm glad she at least got to come back.

But the craziest coincidence is that the host, Adam Driver, actually applied to Julliard & was initially rejected, but accepted years later after his 2nd audition, where he performed the opening speech from Richard III and sang Happy Birthday (he was applying for drama so no weird dancing required). B/t the 2 attempts he joined the Marines (post 9/11) & after being medically discharged (due to an injury to his sternum), he used the GI Bill to attend University of Indiana to resume his path to acting. I love how long everyone cheered! Can’t blame them as I’d get excited if Julia Stiles suddenly came out as Sarah from Save The Last Dance right in front of me! I was 10 when that awesome movie came out, and my dad would tell me every time it came on TV and then watch it with me as I came running to watch it for the thousandth time! Such good memories! As soon as he saw her in Jason Bourne, he started saying it was the woman I loved from “the dance movie” and my teenage brother had no idea what we were talking about. Good memories! 😆😆

Man, what a huge pop for Julia's cameo!!!! Save the Last Dance was obviously a big deal but my favorite 2000's romcom of hers was Down to You with Freddie Prinze, Jr. I found it a few years after it came out and I was at that college age and in a very similar relationship and it just hit me in the right time in life. The theatre has really lost its magic for me in the last several years (even pre-covid) but my nostalgia wallet would fly out of my pocket for a reunion of them in a modern middle age romcom reunion.

Julia looks exactly the same!! Shooketh for real for her to pop out! When you think of young romance movies, she’s all through it. Almost named my child Imajine because of her. Good stuff
