I always stress super hard about meal prepping because all the bro dudes on here make it so strict. Either that or they say be lenient with your diet, but don’t really give any options for that. This was wayyyyyy easier! Thank you!

Wow! I’ve watched many videos on macros and this is the first one I’ve come across that actually makes it simple and helps me understand. I calculated my macros but I was struggling on knowing how much to eat of everything but I love the idea of adding it into my fitness pal before hand. Thank you for the awesome, helpful tips!

wow-i have never thought of entering my food before I eat it. I've tried with macros and I just don't get it. But now I'm going to give this a shot so I can adjust carbs beforehand and not beat myself up at the end of the day instead. Thank you!

When it comes to hispanic food, how would I even put it in fitness pal? Like enchiladas or a chicken noodle soup. Like how do I know what to add and how much of each. Cause for example we will make a sauce with tomatoes and chiles. That’s what really confuses me or like a mac and cheese..

@@adritrez you would scan each individual ingredient into MFP right from the label or if its a raw veggie/ fruit just look it up in the database. if the meal is being split lets say evenly between 4 people, you could just divide it by 4 to get the proper calories/macros per serving (a good example of this would be the soup). if it is not being split evenly, then you can just do your best to get a good estimate in terms of the specific serving size for each ingredient. family style meals will always be a bit harder to track and more of an estimate, when you make an individual serving for yourself its more precise

I like your meal ideas they sound like healthy balance of all macros Right now what seems to be trendy is the whole don't combine fats and carbs together thing which I still don't understand why some people say that's bad, I feel more energetic combining all macros together instead of for example eating protein with fats or protein with carbs but not eating fats and carbs together

Thanks! What is a good source for figuring out calories in homemade foods like dressings? For example, if I make salad dressing, and some ingredients are weighed by ounces or grams, how do I compute that? Especially if I make a large batch, how do I figure out macros/calories for a tablespoon(s)? Would I weigh the entire batch first and then minus out the amount I want to use? If it is weighed- is it in grams or ounces? Sorry for the confusing question. Hope you understand.

When weighing for example the ground turkey would you do that uncooked or cooked ?

theres many different ways to do this, but first its important to understand that the nutrition label is always referring to the state of the food when bought. so when you buy ground turkey and it says 4 oz is the serving size, the nutrition label is referring to the raw weight so that is how you plug it in on myfitnesspal. However, since meat shrinks after cooking the 4 oz raw will come out to around 2.5-3 oz cooked typically (the nutrition info does not change here, just the weight did as water was lost during cooking). So, now that you understand how that works....if you want to know an accurate conversion from raw to cooked, what you can do is this quick conversion in your calculator: (serving size raw x entire batch cooked = entire batch raw / x) example: 5 oz raw serving size x 12 oz cooked = 16 oz raw / x. after doing the conversion, you get 3.75 - so 5 oz raw weight converts to 3.75 cooked weight. you plug in 5 oz in myfitnesspal but weight out 3.75 to actually eat - hope that makes sense! this is definitely an extra step, but its a super accurate way to do it every time, and you can keep this in your phone notes so you have it throughout the week!

How do you know what MFP foods are accurate, if they aren’t verified? For example, a fruit, and there’s hundreds of different calories and macros for all the options in the library. How do I find the actually accurate version? Thanks

use this website fdc.nal.usda.gov/ and create a new food with the nutrition info from here! :) typically though most raw fruits/vegs that you search that have the green check are pretty accurate...everything else though I would scan directly from the label or just use that website to verify!

@@The_Top_Striker you can also change up the way in which you make your protein, like for example, the chicken can be used to make a chicken mac n cheese (which sounds so much better than just plain chicken breast haha), some other things I do are protein pancakes/waffles, tacos, burgers, stir fry, slow cooked/air fried meats, egg breakfast wraps, etc!

I did my macros and my calories to maintain were 1,878 and I decided to do a deficit of 1,600. I’m 5’2 at 190 does this sound about right?

i would do a little higher to start because it never hurts! you can always lower it again if needed :) it also depends if you decided to add any cardio in...if so...i would for sure start higher

kaityree lee I would start with your maintenance calories since you’re about to add in a bunch of new activity to your routine, that itself will have you burning more calories so I would keep your calories at maintenance for now! 😊

So i downloaded myfitnesspal. I have calculated my calories and macros but what if you cant get the exact numbers on the app. They are not off by far so does this matter. Do i need to buy the premium version?

dont worry about it as long as your personal macros match the macros shown on the nutrition page (under the pie chart) then that means you hit them!

it doesnt matter about the brands, it just matters that you are eating about 70-80% nutritious, whole foods to ensure you are getting all your nutrients in and also leaving room 30-20% for foods that you also really enjoy but may not have the highest nutritional value
