I give many thanks to Dr. Jason Fung. After reading your book I felt I finally cracked the code for why I felt my full button was broken. That book is saving me in my retired years now. I implemented fasting in my lifestyle along with a ketogenic food management program starting Feb 2022 and now I am 100 lbs down in weight.

Dr. Fung saved my life. No exaggeration. Years of trying a variety of different diets, some under the guidance of doctors(!), my weight went up yearly. I ended up approx. 70 lbs overweight. (Think 225 lbs when a healthy weight is 115 or 125 for my height.) I came across Dr. Fung after trying Noom and seeing the same thing I'd encountered in previous diets. *Intentional Feasting* (what I call Intermittent Fasting) is my new *lifestyle*. Started IF in June of last year and I'm 35 lbs lighter. For the first time in over 3 decades I ended the year at less weight than I started. No more dieting. Just the ease of not snacking between meals. Changed my life. Thank you, Dr. Fung.

I can identify with the office environment. We had a boss who had an eating disorder. In that she did not eat but baked highly appetizing sugary baked goods all the time When she did not have time she brought in boxes of pastries and boxes of chocolates. If most people have these foods within arms reach they will succumb no matter how strong they think they are. I lifted the food and moved it as far from my desk. It turned out she demonized me as a kill joy . She was only a nurturer according to her. She was very underweight never ate anything but a cracker. It used to make me so angry when I was trying to lose weight. So many people equate love with feeding and overfeeding therefore become feeders. I avoid these people like the plague. You would not leave bottles of booze on every desk nor would you leave boxes of cigarettes or cigars. I have seen so many people lose weight and look great since working from home. Which has helped them gain control.

I tried all the freaking diets since the 80's, my friends and family said I had no will power, a few month ago I figured with videos from Dr Sten Ekberg and Dr Jason Fung plus Thierry Casasnovas (French), I am insulin resistant, it's 15 days today I am on a full fast semi dry, dropped 40 pounds, soon will be able to exercise, and accelerate the fat burning, I have all the will power in the world, I now have a good understanding of what I have to do, fasting is not for sissies, it'hard, but I like life good health and my body then the feeling of a full belly!

I get this focus on the food with how the world is today. I have healed myself from Lupus nephritis. I thought the healthy food was the most important, but I realised my mind was. I was strict keto when really sick. The game changer for me was Dr Joe Dispenza. My self hatred and self destruction made me more sick, even though I was living physically healthy. Today, 4 yrs from following Joe. I am lupus free, medication free. I am living my dream with its ups and downs. Learning every day. Pain free and illness free. You create your reality of everything. I’ve been all for 6 days of 18/6 for liquid is 2 cups of clean water with 2tbsp of lemon then breaking my fast at 9am with bone broth then having an hr later is pea protein shake. I deal with low thyroid from when my doctor told me I have low thyroid. I told myself that I’m not going to end up on medication so I dropped the rolled oats & honey & light milk. I changed my eating plan with foods & liquid Kefir, turmeric, green superfood , cod liver oil, ginger, coconut oil, cocoa, 1/3 cup promagranate , cinnamon, curcumin , antioxidant, collagen powder, Second meal before 3pm this is small size plate or bowl I have 3 small eggs, salmon or sardines, goat cheese, mushroom, avocado, few slices of beets, small shallot, Notes I’m working between after I’ve had my pea protein I hope I’ve helped others with low thyroid to heal the thyroid. So true! I accidentally found out after my cat passed away last year, I lost my appetite completely. I wasn't able to eat for several days and got lightheaded. I had to go to work. The only food that was halfway appealing was bland food. Steel-cut oatmeal with berries and a little peanut butter was on hand. It took me a long time to eat a bowl...so filling. I drank a ton of water too. I ate nothing else except oatmeal and raspberries with a tbsp peanut butter. It energized me. Had it 2-3 meals a day and water or black coffee or black tea. On the 4th morning after starting oatmeal, I woke up and felt happy for no reason, euphoric in fact. I told a friend who said you're in a fasted state due to eating nothing for days followed by about 500-600 calories a day for another few days. That sounded about right...hadn't been sleeping, was stressed and fatigued. My cat's death was still there but I was feeling better. I spent the next 5-6 weeks eating oatmeal because I felt mentally clear and high spiritually, not hungry, weak or tired. Lost 16 pounds. Finally I said I should eat...so I added mixed salad greens and raspberries and 2 tsp apple cider vinegar+1cup cold water with a few walnuts. I did this for a couple days, then added steamed veggies like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, then salmon, ground turkey gradually.

Thank you Dr Jason Fung, 2 years ago I was in a deep flare of mast cells activated syndrome, recently moved to the US and hadn’t found a specialist yet. Therefore by myself for surviving. Gained 60 pounds in 6 months. Angio oedema was severe, my O2 saturation was very often around 80. Watching his videos made me understand the benefits of lowering my insuline and my inflammation. Not only did I lose these 60 pounds, but also lowered all my symptoms of food and synthetic fragrances sensitivity triggering my anaphylactic shocks. I am wondering why we don’t find more papers on mast cells activated syndromes and ME improving on low carb diet. As a certified osteopath I am trying to motivate persons in groups (FB), difficult without the support of experts and physicians. Thank youuuu for your huge expertise and motivation!

I hit the gym no less than five days a week and I continue to eat healthy every day, no cheat days! After while, it became easy (as if I was on auto pilot) and I did not think twice about going to the gym or what to eat. Just try not to complicate the process. Once you start seeing results and you prove to yourself that you are disciplined, it’s all about consistency from there on in. Dr Fung's discussion is absolute pure knowledge explained simply and crystal clear. Just one little inaccuracy regarding the fact that when you skip a meal or two or begin a prolonged fast, your body does not tap directly into your stored fat.... it draws energy from your glycogen storage for several days. Infact... when I begin a prolonged fast, it takes me time, even more than a week to fully pull out energy from my body fat and during those days, I have very low energy and quite some hunger. It takes time for me to really start producing ketones. It's NOT after 3-4 days for everyone. Thank you for the great interview. Greetings from Italy and Happy New Year 🥂🍾

I was 20 in the mid 70's, and all my friends and family and I were like stick insects. We spent our whole lives out side, ate 3 home cooked meals a day, (nothing processed) & walked everywhere & drank water. We were heavier however than our stick thin parents and grand-parents. Things have certainly changed since then. Enormously so.

@lewishowes I want to address something that society puts on parents here. Children today spend more time inside on phones and games. Yes. But we do not have a society thar creates a safe outside play environment. When a child can get stolen and murdered by the man who delivers your packages you can't feel safe letting them be outside. And they begin to hear of this stuff too so they turn to the inside on their own choice as well. They don't want to go outside after a while. They are addicted to their routine of phones etc. The parents get blamed. But we also have terrible grandparents who are so self involved they don't even call these kids. Many of today's families are living far from the hometown village and are very isolated. Instead of constantly blaming the kids and the parents we need to address the causes not just attack the symptoms. Mom of 2 out.

Ummmm you're blaming society are you not? Grandparents etc...? Maybe figure out how to get your kids exercise. Have them join fav sports teams, or ballet if you have girls, keep them active. Go on hikes with your kids, go camping, go bike riding together, go on walks together. If your worried about danger leaving kids outside to play, then be outside with them! Problem solved. If grandparents aren't calling, have you addressed it with them? Maybe have your kids call them once in a while.

I like what Dr.Fung was pointing to: circumstances causes change in habit. A relative recently asked me how is it DNA of humans are more oriented milk fat than fruits. I gave a lot of thought and realized that humans were not accommodated to fruit sooner because it is only with machinery and slavery were we able to clear large tracks of lands and proceed on the road of very high fruit production and consumption. So availability of fruit in large quantity relative to availability and DNA adjustment to milk fat has been recent. Consequently we are more adjusted to milk fat, strange as that seems.

One thing i come across a lot is people assuming that the body is independent from thought and emotions. Also, not all bodies are the same, nor does one size fit all regarding dietary needs. What also needs to be addressed is that extra weight does not always equal dis ease or is caused from diet alone.

Due to my work I eat only once a day by time constraints. I used to eat so often in school but now I work I eat once a day and I don't miss the mealtimes at all. Once a day is just fine, I have no hunger for a second meal. It really works, the body settles into the habit and all of a sudden it's no Biggie, where someone eating 6 times a day would imagine us to be constantly starving.

I was a teen during that time & there are a few issues. One they changed the food pyramid from 6-7 helpings of grains to 11. Then fat free became a thing, they got the coconut oil out of movie theatre popcorn, but another big issue is women started to go to college in droves & in the ‘professional categories’ accounting, law, medicine rather than secretary, hairdresser etc & with mom working she did not want the kid playing outside, they would get into trouble. So the kid is inside, & now microwaves are in everyone’s house so instead of the kid eating an apple or maybe even a sandwich if it’s a teen boy, now they’re eating micro popcorn, pizza etc. and no one to remind them what a serving is or they had enough. The three meals & 2 snacks came abt in the 80s when the premise was the process of eating/digestion raised your metabolism. But as a skinny kid & teen if I ate 1500 calories it was 300 breakfast, 400 lunch, 500 dinner & two 100 cal snacks, you were hungry & you needed the snack because you weren’t taking in enough calories at the meal to get you to the next meal

I'm curious.. is there an age when it's too young to IF? Children probably should be eating more, no? I completely understand all these principles for adults, but how should we feed our children? Also, I'm in my 50's and play aLOT of tennis and other activities. I don't have any issues skipping breakfast and sometimes lunch, but I'm constantly hungry late in the day/ evening... should I increase food intake while IFing?

Intermittent fasting is a lifestyle and is supposed to be kept going always. At some point you start to maintain. You might try to shorten your fasting window if you're losing weight past what you want. From what I understand, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, any fasting window of at least 12 hours will give you health benefits.

@@NeverGiveUp1313 Hi, I've been fasting 16/8 for 2 months and now and then I go longer. I eat 2 big healthy meals a day. From what I have seen on other videos they say that 18 hours fasting you start to get better HGH, Keytones and autophagy and you get more of these the longer you fast for up to about 5 days. Also your insulin and glucose goes down the longer you fast. This is my understanding of it anyway.
