So not only was I at this show, but the voice yelling stupid shit at them throughout the set (stuff like "We don't care about God!" and "Jesus was WAY cool!") is my good friend Jim. The two of us, and a third friend named Joe, had gone to see the Dead Milkmen who were the headliners of this show. We had never heard of Ween but as soon as they started playing, Joe and I were into it. Jim... not so much. So he proceeded to heckle them, much to our chagrin. As much as I hate that he did that, it's pretty crazy to be able to watch this show again almost 32 years later. Even crazier is re-watching it and seeing myself in the crowd at 43:53, at the bottom of the screen wearing a Yankees cap! To all who watch, enjoy and I'm sorry for my stupid friend and his big mouth!

To say this is amazing is kind of insulting- insulting to Ween- that is. One would think a group like this would self-destruct in short order, but they built these songs and vibes into one of the most colorfully unpredictable and rewarding catalogs in music. The fact that Papa Gener could rage so hard for a full 20 years before full meltdown and then re-emerge from the ashes so triumphantly just underscores their collective greatness. All hail the Might Ween! Credit must also be given to the internet for allowing this. These trail markers from our heroes were not always available at the touch of a button. Cheers.
I think this show is brilliant, and I've been binging their entire discography over the past month including legendary live shows at Chicago and All requests live. They are clearly fucked up on mushrooms and watching this show with that in mind makes it a lot better imo, as they're still kicking ass and performing relatively abrasive material in front of pretentious sheltered youths of NYC, just a masterclass in Live Trolling.
Best version of 'Tender Situation' ever to be heard by man. I remember downloading the audio of this show on BT close to 15 years ago & have been looking for the infamous "Taste the waste fucker, taste the waste" version for the past year; lest I say my night was made tonight.
Yeah - it's goddman amazing! Are you familiar with their live album, "Paintin' the Town Brown"? There's an amazing version of "Tender Situation" on that one and it's followed by the absolute, hands-down HEAVIEST version of "Awesome Sound" that I've ever heard!!
@@wangson I am familiar with the album sir, very classy. The versions you referenced are indeed excellent, live Ween is really something else... The albums all polished can be offputting for some, but I guarantee if those same people saw them live their tune would change!
@@ItsDallasSallad Oh absolutely. They remain a band that is well worth the price of a ticket - not only to watch the spectacle and listen to them wail, but for some, there are better than a few concerts that are perhaps more akin to endurance tests for Ween-uninitiates. For the rest of us though, 4 hours of live Ween is like the ideal medicine, baby!
The way they slide right into Boing here has got to be one of my favorite Ween moments.. a prime example of the kind of telepathy these 2 were demonstrating on stage at this point in their career
I am so thankful this exists. These boys are so clearly on acid, and watching this video tripping is like nothing else. These boys immerse me in the essence of the boognish. Hail.
I've loved ween for a long time now but I don't think I truly knew what they were about until seeing this show. I feel kinda embarrassed that I didn't quite understand it.This is really why people love them. This particular show.
And all their other shows and their albums lol. They are a fucking great band their discography is just so full of ridiculous songs that its hard to take in at first but they seriously fuckin' rock and put on a hell of a show.
One of the best concert videos I've ever seen. Catches Ween near their creative height on a great evening. All hail Boognish! This is about as brown as it gets.

This was the tour I first got to see them on. Small underground club 10 bucks to get in and no idea who they were. It shaped my idea of what music could be.
This is amazing! To think I was lucky enough to play that same stage many years later. It would be great if ween did an anniversary tour in this style. Old school ween. Boognish would be very pleased.
I saw these guys live in Memphis this year, and holy fuck it was great. These guys are a couple of the greatest musicians of all time, and to watch this is actually affirming and gratifying, to know that you can actually start out like this and become Ween, just by simply giving a fuck while not giving a fuck. I'm kidding, of course, you can not give a fuck while you give a fuck all you want, you'll never be Ween. Their secret is in the sauce
Oh boy, if it wasn't for Kurt Vile chosing one of their albums (The Mollusc) on "What's In My Bag?" I would have never heard of these guys! 🌿Thanks Kurt! 🌿 🙋♀️ WEEN you've got a new fan!
they really go for it. like he’s channeling joe cocker. i think they are way too much for this crowd who doesn’t seem to get them. the songs and lyrics are great 👍 the performance is hilarious awesome show 👏
A band with 60,000 seat talent playing a 500 fan capacity venue. I feel so bad for the world that they all weren't at this show. Including myself. Sigh.
