Im pretty happy with the Dutch performance. But imo, Koeman should bench Veerman, move Xavi to 10 and put Frimpong on the wing. Also bring in Weghorst earlier at say 60min.

Look. Cruyff said that the ball is round and that if you don't shoot, you don't score. What he meant was that pure random luck plays a big role in football. But you may bend that luck with pressure. The first goal was an example. Gakpo just fired. And the shot went in somehow. Before that, maybe 4 or 5 shots could have also gotten in somehow, but they didn't. That is because the ball is round. Some people present managing soccer as a higher sort of mathematics, you can control. Well in fact it is. But the math involved is called probability calculation. More shots, more goals.

Wijnaldum played a crucial part with the second goal.. don't forget that... I still think he play's a good part in the Dutch team. For the rest a nice piece ;)

Decent analysis. Ake and de Vrij played a great match. Reijnders and Gakpo were decent, but not perfect, especially that slip up from Reijnders in the dutch 16m that almost led to a polish goal. Memphis was annoying as usual, a lot of showing off but not being effective at all. Personally I would prefer Malen of Zirkzee on his position. Oh and last but not least: Schouten played really well. He was pretty much always in the correct position and played forward well

I think the Dutch are very able to play on the right side even with this lineup. Poland prepared well to counter play there but left the left side more exposed as a result.

Almost everyone in Poland agrees that Szymański was our worst player and will probably be replaced by Moder or we will play with 2 strikers with Lewandowski and Świdersk And we had no expectations before the tournament because of the group rivals and I can say that I'm really proud hoe they performed and where it is going with Probierz (;

love ur commentary! it was a tense game and i m so relived that Netherlands got the 3 points..thanks Weghorst, u keep silencing ur critics ... here are my reflections from this game... -Netherlands dominated the 1st half but the players were so rushed and lacked the needed concentration to convert from the numerous chances..on the other hand , the team dropped off in the 2nd half . -Dumfries looked dead on the 1st half but was a constant threat on the 2nd half -the midfield was the weakest link for Netherlands ..the trio working there were not clicking with each other ..veerman was disappointing and lacked confidence and i think the early booking made him so shaky .. Reijnders produced some nice passes and was so mobile.. Schouten was solid as well..but on the next game we need them to do better. - Ake was amazing with 2 assists ..that is music to my ears because this means that we will not see Blind any more..coz we have so many other talents -koeman subs were good too but i thought wijnaldum substitution was bad as he was invisible ...i actually wanted to see gravenberch -Verbruggen was 10 out of 10 -gapko was immense in the 1st half but dropped off in the 2nd half -simons was below average and should be dropped for malen on the next game. -depay was good and active but again he was toothless in front of goal -for the next game .. i hope to see the same linkup with only 2 changes..( Frimpong and Malen In) ..( Veerman and simons OUT) WE need to play 5-3-2... nothing is impossible ,, bring on france!!!

Memphis shouldn't have come back on the field in the 2nd half. He showed to be a disruptor for the Dutch team in the first half. He didn't have his day, that was clear after the first 15 minutes. The head band is "what"?

Poland surprised me i didn't expect it being this close, Then again if Netherlands wants any hope to win , more of those chances our team got should become goals. I expect less of those chances to come our way playing vs France. Perhaps we should learn from the Poles, who converted their first chance into a goal. Glad the atmosphere betweeen supporters was as good as i could have been, and the organisation deeming this a risk match with fights between supporters was being proven dead wrong.

Ahy do you think koeman subbed ake while he was playing an amazing game instead of maybe schouten or reijnders who to me seemed like they made less of an impact?

Xavi Simons has yet to play a good game for the Netherlands. It has partly to do with having to play from the right. I don't think Simons is a right winger at all. I think he should be used as a 10 behind the striker. That also solves part of the midfield issue we are having atm with 3 important midfielders out through injury, and a young talented midfielder in Timber out as well with an injury. We are stretched thin there. He at least did put in a good amount of work though in the defensive area. Which is why for me Aké is man of the match and not Gakpo. Gakpo was too lazy in defense. He was very threatening going forward, but he lacked the discipline to go back. At least Simons did that part and had some interceptions in the box because of that as well. Wijnaldum was absolutely terrible. We basically played with 10 men when he was subbed on. Didn't see him at all. Which always was my critique of him. But at least around 2017 he scored a lot, created a lot in attack. He's in that regard similar to Van de Beek. If it doesn't flow, he doesn't get the ball, and you just don't see him all match. I was reasonably happy with Depay's performance. Yes, he should've scored at least one of his chances, but he was busy, he was putting in the work in the midfield as well, he was threatening. Too many times in past tournaments he was just invisible. If he keeps getting the chances, they'll go in sooner or later. It wasn't his best performance, but it is something to build on. Aké man of the match for me. Solid in defence, and he chose his offensive moments carefully and it immediately resulted in dangerous moments when he did.

The Dutch played beautiful football but I think DEPAY has to be benched for Weghorst and MAYBE Simmons for Frimpong or something coz Gakpo was cooking , this is the Gakpo I saw at PSV , Left wing .

we can't play two ceative players with Memphis and Simons. Probably sub Memphis then..

Only Reijnders and Weghorst leave this game with any credit for the Dutch. Gakpo was ok for 20 mins, still runs with the ball head down oblivious to any teammates, never sustains a ninety minute perfromance, a deflected goal doesn't hide his defencies. That Dutch midfield offers zero protection to the back four, any midfiled that has box to box runners will have joy.
