I had a Gastric Bypass on December 1, 2020 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana Mexico. 5 Weeks post-op and I'm just now starting to feel the nausea. Everything has been going really well - and it still is, honestly - but starting to add more and more solid foods back into my diet has left me feeling more nausea and discomfort this week than any of the other weeks so far after surgery. It's a good reminder that this is definitely still going to be a learning process and take some time to figure out what all works and doesn't work. I've got to learn to appease my new tummy!

Would LOVE to hear about your vitamin regimen! ☺️ You’re looking so good - and thank you for continuing to share your experience. I’m getting so darned close to surgery, exactly 2 weeks tomorrow 😱 I’m having the DS done, so a bit different than bypass, but your videos have been super insightful & helpful.

Vitamin video uploading as we speak ;D I've heard good things about the DS, though I admittedly don't know as much about it. It's malabsorptive like the bypass so vitamins will be really important!

I had gastric sleeve surgery two weeks ago today, and I am so very glad I found you here, I watch your videos every day, I told my husband that I wish you lived here in Nebraska I would love to meet you and talk to you, you are very inspiring!😊 I have only lost one pound, and I am struggling drinking water, even after adding flavor to it like I did pre op, I drank it like I was addicted, but now I can’t get it down. I’m Not getting 64 oz.. more like 24 😔 I can drink Hot tea and protein shakes, that’s it. I see my Dr Friday so hopefully I can get answers and help. But am also wandering if you have any suggestions? Again… you are Awesome, and I am very proud of you and this journey your on, you look Amazing!!😊

Getting the water in can be a struggle, but my experience was that it got easier each day. Focus on what you can, and lean towards the things you can get down easier like tea. If you can drink more tea, grab some herbal tea and use that as a way to get in your water. I personally need water enhancers to drink more. Also you can try things at different trotters as some people have found that's easier, which may be a reason tea works well for you. What did your doctor say?

Hey thanks for replying 😊, yes. I’ve been adding flavor to my water like I did before pre op, and now I can hardly keep it down. My Dr said to drink as much as I can and make up for it in hot decaffeinated tea since that goes down well. It’s hard, but it’s getting better every day, I just keep reminding myself where I was and where I’m headed, and that makes me Happy!😊 I’ve been trying soft foods, and scrambled eggs go down good, puddings, jello, ect.. it seems I get hungry more than I used to, but if I eat too much then I’m nauseous, it’s a learning process. I go back and watch your videos and they give me hope, thank you for sharing them. You look Amazing, you go girl!!🌺🌼

You are doing great! I had a better week! I realized that I was “grazing” and once I corrected that behavior my weight loss picked up! I too have been finding out what agrees with me and what doesn’t and how much I can eat at a meal. One thing I had that didn’t stay down was gumbo! I hope that is temporary because you can’t live in South Louisiana and not eat gumbo!

I agree - I'm pretty sure your blood is part gumbo if you're in Louisiana, right? Hopefully it is temporary! Everything about early post-op is trial and error and it can be so tough sometimes, but I feel like I'm learning every day what my new stomach wants and how to make her happy haha.

You look great 😊 your face looks so much thinner! I’m planing to get my surgery done in Tijuana. Can you be so kind and share how much your surgery was? Also, do you think is possible to go back to work right after surgery?
@1FatBeet
@1FatBeet 3 года назад
Thank you! My total cost of surgery was $7,225. The gastric bypass procedure is more expensive than the sleeve, and I had a high BMI so my total reflected an extra $695. If you have a desk job or something light, you should be able to go back to work right after surgery. I've heard of a lot of people who get the surgery over a long weekend and return to work on Monday.

When did you notice that you could start drinking more liquids? Was it after week 1?

Hi! Had my surgery a couple days ago. How long did you experience pain and tenderness?
@1FatBeet
@1FatBeet 3 года назад
Congrats and welcome to the losers bench! My general abdominal pain felt kind of like I did too many crunches, and it slowly faded over the course of a week and a half. By 2 weeks I could lay on my side and not have any discomfort. I took pain medication for only a few days and then I started to feel consistently better throughout the day.

Is it possible to get back to work right after getting Discharge from the hospital. My job is very demanding and I cannot take any days off. When do you feel you can get back to work when you get this type of surgery?
@1FatBeet
@1FatBeet 3 года назад
Depends on how demanding your job is. I personally wanted to take two weeks off to give myself time, but I had so much work to do that I ended up starting to work again the Monday after surgery. I have a desk job so it was not difficult to start working again. There is a lifting restriction of no more than 30 lbs. for about 6 weeks after surgery so thats something to keep in mind if you lift or are pretty active at work.

Maybe you can’t tolerate too many carbs now ...........

Carbs oddly enough have never really been too big of an issue for me, though things like pasta and rice will make me feel full really fast. I do talk about it in future videos, but I attribute a lot of the nausea I had early on post-op to not drinking enough. Once I started getting my hydration under control, my nausea really subsided substantially.
