Where Have I Been? 2.5 Years Post-Op Update | My Gastric Bypass Journey 

Well done! I'm 7.5 years out from my mini-gastric bypass. I've been very fortunate. I'm still yo-yoing but am happy that I am very healthy. No diabetes, low blood pressure and low chorestorel - no medication at all. I am overweight but in the process of losing the last 50 pounds - seems a lot but I had over 220 pounds to lose. We've moved to Portugal from the UK - we have now retired in the sun and basically I'm half the size I was when I started. I still take supplements and manage my MGB. Good fortune to you!

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this today….I’m 18 months out and have stayed at this weight seems like forever. I’ve been really upset about not losing more. My doctor is happy where I’m at. That should be enough for me. I just need to get my head around it. Thank you for sharing!

Being one month out and watching your previous videos, glad to see this update. The surgery is not a quick fix process. Changes to my lifestyle are required and I have learned this fast. You should be proud of yourself with all you have going on with the stress and not gaining more is a win!

That's an incredible update! You should be so proud of the amount of stress you went through without regaining weight. I'm sure we can all relate to stress eating and it sounds like you've coped with everything life has thrown at you beautifully. Aww! Good for you, honey! Im so happy that you are enjoying your life again. So sorry about your furry son, my condolences. Do you and what feels right, always..... unless it involves a case of thin mint cookies, then do moderation! lmao Anyway, thank you so much for the update (I was one of the people who asked for one). I too, am trying to concentrate more on the effects the surgery has had on my abilities and health rather than what is or isnt happening on the scale. I was 59, post menopausal and insulin resistant when I had my RNY 18 weeks ago and the weight loss has been slow, to say the least. However, my abilities and mobility were back to almost normal in about 8 weeks. And although I do want to lose a few more pounds for my own additional personal confidence and vanity, if I didnt lose another pound, I would be happy to have had my surgery just for the mobility, health benefits and ability it has already afforded me. Weight loss now, to me, is just the frosting on the sugar free, fat free cake! 😂

Oh Stephanie, thank you for your update. I always learn so much with the wisdom you share. Change is difficult, but I am so glad you prioritized balance. I’m sorry you had to let go of your precious cat. I still miss one of my cats so much, she was special. I realize she died over 20 years ago! Thank you about the reminder that this is really a mental game. I finally have a surgery date for the gastric bypass next month. I’m rewatching your early videos to help prepare. Oh, and a Disney wedding 2/4/24! Very cool!

I've recently started following you from the UK and I just want to thank you. I am currently on the NHS waiting list for gastric bypass and you have been so helpful and easy to watch. the things that I related to the most was week 6 and 7 when you referred to losing 'new weight' I think I shouted YES at the tv😂. being a yoyo dieter(not sure if you have that expression in the states) basically weight going down then back up and a bit more for years and years.. I can really relate to that. I thought I was just me that felt like that. anyway thank you so much again. I am just about to watch your week 8 update. Well done and keep going. I really feel for you with the cat situation. We went through the exact same thing with our cat who was also 12. We kept throwing money after all of the tests and treatments the vet could think of. Finally, the vet told me that the cat was suffering and we had to put her down that day.

Where did you have your surgery? I think I saw two of your other videos but im not sure because you look different.

You probably could have transitioned to a supervisor position in another company or department. I think when you take that on in a position you are already known as an expert- people take advantage and you can’t be get rid of the assumed expertise given by your colleagues after. You also can’t continue your old work load - that’s crazy.

What do you do for a living?

If anyone could help do you just schedule and pay for surgery in Mexico ? If not what do you have to do before hand.

Omg I was so happy to see a video from you. First, let me say how sorry i am about the loss of your furry buddy😪❤. I feel like your shadow... except for the marriage part lol...I'm way past that stage in life. I've had the exact struggles with work balance, and I'm 2. 5 years post RNY also and up 8 lbs. I've accepted the gain also and am maintaining. It's where my body needs to be. I love your insight and your honesty. All the best with moving on and all the wedding planning.
