Most of the problem is poor prep, maybe mold release and dirt in the bond area and on the weight. And the glue itself. My HOS 4” Fischer set had a weight come loose. I cleaned it with IPA 91% and used JB Weld epoxy. That weight is going Nowhere. The HOS Fischer set IMHO is a better looking set but may always be plagued with rattlers that can be fixed easily. I found a lot of molding seams and mold alignment with ultimate set and for that reason won’t pay $50-$70 for it. It’s workmanship and glue that causes the rattlers. JB Weld is superior epoxy but it’s not cheap or quick. But it works.
How about someone make a set that is made with quality plastic that doesn't crack easy and doesn't show lines? Began playing again after many years. And all I can say about today's pieces are....OMG, are you all crazy buying this complete and total garbage? This happened because of the homogenization effect of producing everything in China. Communist, centralized. It's a total joke. Better stuff CAN be made, and sold for profit. But why manufacture anything of value if you control the distribution of everything from a central point? The Chess world can do better than this. PITIFUL. I'm shocked.
@@Chessboii I'd rather our system not be corrupted by policy that prevents US manufacturing these things. Designed that way. Purposely destroying, not by accident, and completely inorganic.
Rattling pieces feel cheap, when the glue gives way and lets the weight move. I like the illusion that the pieces is one solid thing and when the magnet gets loose it shatters that illusion.
A link to by the set in the video description would be nice. You sold me, but how do I buy??? I searched for V3 Ultimate Chess Set on Amazon and nothi9ng looked like your set.
If it weren't for the goofy oversized pawns, I would buy the Ultimates in a heartbeat. I like the innovative weight system, the appearance of the rooks, and I'm perfectly ok with the knights which some people seem to have an issue with. But those bulbous pawns would distract me while playing. They look mismatched compared to the rest of the set. It's as if the pawns are from another, bigger set. Any chance of of the pawns being made without swelled heads? If not, is there another plastic set you can recommend that won't be subject to rattling weights?
The top of the knight mane comes to a point. Some in my set are sharp some are just pointy. It annoys me I had to sand it down to round it out because you couldn’t do it right the first time. Also, maybe next time I can buy a set without the cheap felt that does not go edge to edge. It was a lot of work peeling off the chip felt so that I could felt it properly.
This is so dumb I can think of three ways to solve this same solution and not have to talk it up or hide it and I've only spent 3min 48 seconds watching this video someone please tell me this isn't an actual issue in the community. if you have some knowledge on some simple industrial design techniques or manufacturing techniques this shouldn't be an issue for anyone designing a quality chess set or even a quality budget chess set. I was only watching this video to conduct research to make my own custom set for my self but if this is really the issues people are facing in the community I'm better off making it my self without this research got dimensions and weights from a simple Google search it shouldn't be hard to make a chess set once I decide on a design language.
