Ian and I tackle the removal of a frozen and split Triangle Tube combi boiler and the installation of a new Weil McLain EcoTec 110 Combi. This is the first EcoTec we’ve installed as a company and we were pleased with how the installation went. Time will tell about how reliable and dependable it is in the coming months, but so far so good!

I've gotta say man, I love the neatness of the work you do. It is very impressive and I definitely reference the way you do piping when I do boilers. Very neat, professional and its clear you know your shit.

I’m currently installing the same unit. You are not lying about the tight fit of those isolator valves for domestic water when using the ez-up manifold. Your valves look slightly different than the ones I have and mine will not fit. Can you help me out with a name and part number if possible? Happy new year.

I was looking at the manual for a Eco Tec 2 110 Combi and it saying that LWCO is not included plus it has only two terminals for a pump or zone valves. is it true? I can see you have a LWCO and bunch of terminals for pumps and zone valves. Great install! The fact that you have a 4500$ without LWCO built in just blows my mind.

This boiler did not come with a LWCO, and I’m assuming none of them do. If I remember correctly, this boiler has a few terminals for zone valves and circulators, but the next time I do one, I will refresh my memory and get back to you!

I noticed the old install was propress aswell , how old was the first piping and was any of the fittings leaking? I’ve been plumbing since the late eighties and I just started using propress about 6 years ago I so far haven’t had but one leak with propress but that was my fault entirely because I cut old copper pipe and I did clean it and debur the pipe but I seen the copper was really thin and after I pressed I had a leak so I cut back about two feet and had good solid copper but the copper that leaked after I cut it out I could crush it with very little pressure. How long have you been using propress fittings and have you had good experience with them. I keep hearing from all the old school plumbers they want use propress but I was like that until I tried them and I just think all the old school plumbers are just to dang cheap to fork out the money to make their life easier and better but that’s my opinion. Thank for that incredible installation that my friend is a work of art.

Thank you for the kind words! This house was left abandoned over the winter, and the piping/heat exchanger froze and split. It would have happened with soldered joints also. We have been using press for almost 10 years now. From 1/2” up to 3”. I love it. Much easier than soldering. I have had a handful of fittings leak, even after proper installation. We’ve installed thousands of fittings though, so I can’t complain too much. I find that most of them were inferior brands. We only use Viega now, exclusively.

Hey guys nice job! I have a question though... and I mean no disrespected this, because um sure you've got a good reason. I'm just interested in other methods..... why zone valves instead of zone pumps? Just interested in your thoughts. Thanks again and sweet looking install!

Thank you. Zone valves and circulators are both reliable and effective tools to zone with. We prefer zone valves because of the cost savings over circs. You don’t need any switching relays and the part themselves are much cheaper. They both do the same job, so why not save the customer money. Additionally, our area is 80%+ zone valves. So it’s easy to keep your truck stocked with parts that most other contractors use, for service and new installation.

We don’t use a lot of propress but when we do we don’t press one side of the 1” 90 and it blows when the water gets turned on. 15 minutes later the pipe drained and we only flooded 3 floors. Lol😂😂😂 Doubt we made money on that job. Lol😂

In America the pipes are not insulated?
@valenzaplumbing
@valenzaplumbing 9 месяцев назад
Nope. Almost never in a residential installation. Heat loss is minimal and any that the pipe does give off, is lost to the space being heated anyway.
