For real, like I've been around for some barracks tattoos with a tattoo gun the dude got off amazon; and even with that being as dumb as it sounds, it was real ink, a real gun, with nitrile gloves and alcohol wipes. Infection is no joke, especially when you're making hundreds of tiny punctures on someone's skin.

I remember reading awhile back about a guy who got a tattoo on his back. Instead of getting the tattoo he wanted the tattoo artist just wrote “fuck you” on his entire back. Other artists saw it and volunteered to cover it up for free, no charge.
