dude i'm from brasil and these places that sell pirated dvds are actually kinda chill. Like if it is in São Paulo (that's where the biggest market like that is located in the country), there is this one place that basically mostly sells items that were smugled/pirated or falsified and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) buys stuff there cause it's cheap. It's actually a chill place (in days where it is too crowded there may be some pick pocketing, but that's about it) and police wouldn't care that they were buying DVD's, so her parents just abondoned her for nothing lol. Also most DVDs you buy come with the original audio, they didnt need to go there to get them
