That’s called coyote time. In games, they give players a few more frames than they should really have to complete their jump. It prevents them from being too frustrating.

4:39 If you view this frame by frame (press , to go back a frame and press . to go forward a frame) you can see that one frame, the fireball is just in the air, and the next frame it's between the wall and the ice block with a coin in it.
