Weird Tabletop Games 

FATAL, rules-wise, is pretty typical "I can do AD&D but BETTER!" of late '90s and '00s, and it is not a good one. Tons of overlabored rules and options, most of which basically serve no point (yes, I would LOVE to have basket-weaver as my PC's class! not), and obsession with mathematical complexity for sake of some kind of "bell curve" at cost of basic operability. What propelled it to infamy, though, is rather unabashed awfulness of its writers, whose opinions were in line with some of the most horrible stereotypes about Gamers (tm) out there and they didn't seem to comprehend how horrible that is, both objectively and relatively to people around them. Book may have some amount of overt racism, sexism, and just shitheadery, but them defending it in most revealing ways is what made FATAL reviled. I doubt RU-vid would permit me share some of their responses to criticism, but I would advise seeing them to believe it.

@@polocatfan I do not think you understood me. The writers of FATAL defended their choices in interviews. Not this video (albeit I do not remember what it exactly said after 10 months).

The "let's make a character series" explained very well. They needed a four part series, with each part being around 1 hour long, to create a character. Spoiler: By the end of part one, the character made is already unplayable.

wow, you too? i was an angel of dubious gender and very cunning (heavy inspired in Sariel, from Touhou)...and then a very tiny neko mimi-maid who was obssesed with her master and used poison and a blowpipe like weapon. Maid RPG was funny, thanks to this random-ish factor for the characters.

Ive played played it and it's an absolute blast. Just be careful because your players can be absolutely unhinged, and it scared away a newcomer of the tabletop 💀

I’ve also played a few times and it’s great. Contrary to the other reply, I’ve successfully introduced some people to tabletop games with it so YMMV

This is the thing. TTRPGs are limited by the fact you have to have players remember and actually do the thing, so the mechanics have to be fairly simple. Something like a video game can have giant equations for calculating things like damage, but if you need to work with anything more complex than adding or subtracting small numbers, or more than two numbers at any time, you've probably messed up at the table.

F.A.T.A.L. would work as a video game because I know as hell wouldn't able to process and remember all of those rules. Having played gruesome games and being on a borderline masochist spree, F.A.T.A.L. would be right up my alley... as long as I don't find it being developed by deranged Japanese devs (no offense to FromSoftware, you know the types I mean).

@@allChonkerdUP-E8kH oh, yes, japanese games. One half isn't even games because they have almost no gameplay, and other half have so many unfinished mechanics that Yandere dev would look beginner.

@@denjidenji9162 Yeah, the reason for my parentheticals is they do NOT call you that, but something far worse. For example, the magic item of n-word-ification gives you high strength, low mental stats, and a lust for basketball, fried chicken, and white women. It really is that bad.

mostly ends up being a mix of silly and gruesome, confused and intense yeah, but that confusion will lead to both unspeakable acts, and just wacko goof slop, if your running the game how it should be this is unavoidable, but good and expected, the only time it gets overly grim is if the person running it is railroading too much, like the lying thing, best used to make them fall deeper into delusion that their acts are advancing them to their goals and not just getting them closer and closer to being shot to death by the cops, dont try to get your players to mistrust and kill each other, the cops will do that for you half the time, let them hit the clairvoyant flow state with each other and they will ramp up themselves into oblivion, normality is the only game iv seen where players fully sync and just understand the party goals without stating them outright, the source material said it would happen, i didnt believe it at first, but it works, just dont use dice when you make your system for it, all that is diy, and numbers just dont work for it, dice just dont feel like what it was "built" for, or possibly thats just me, but the more numbers the more concrete, the less flow, stuff gets all bricked, and now everyone is thinking too much about what they are doing and it falls apart, it only works when no one thinks and just falls into a semi telepathic state, and thats on you to create if you wanna "run" it, and it has become apparent to me that numbers hinder that, its more fun then you think, not so scary when you run it, but just choose well who you play with, part of the game is falling into unforgivable situations, not everyone is gonna be ok with that, respect that if you want good "runs" only play with people you know can be pushed and not feel too disgusting after, its a good "game" highly recommend trying it out :--)

It feels like an educational thing. Super stereotypical male power fantasy scenario, but the girl gets to be the power and the men are forced into the women's perspective. Though men who'd play that voluntarily probably need it the least

Also making a custom game out of the Fallout/Wasteland TTRPG combined with Gaslands sound fun as hell. I might have to try that out... Also2, if you do dive into that Maid RPG you MUST mention its predecessor, the Sailor Moon TTRPG. These would all be really fun ideas. As for that FATAL TTRPG, I've already had two 4th degree perineal tears, I'm good.
