Any comments about biden or trump will be automatically removed before they are even public. Its a shame that I have to even mention this... I really hoped people could just enjoy the boat for what it is.
OMG! She is absolutely beautiful ! You gave new life to a true classic icon. Almost 50 years and still catches every eye as it passes. Congratulations and enjoyA!
Beautiful boat, love how light and bright it is inside. Buy your last boat first is great advice, too bad most of us have no idea how to make that happen lol! Thanks for sharing that sweet cruise with us :D
A really nice Commander. I've always admired this model, and the Constellations. Chris Craft built some of the most beautiful boats/yachts of all time. Timeless classics.
I’m glad there are people keeping these classics alive. I wish I had the money to throw at a beauty like this, or Cullen’s boat. I’m in the market for a weekend cruiser, but I’m gonna have to go all in up front for something newer, because I don’t have the time or expertise to keep these classics going.
I have very little money, and I had no experience when I bought mine! Saved up for a year and jumped in head first. If you know how to work hard and research then it can happen!
You did a Fantastic job redoing this one Buddy , I grew up in South Florida and have been boating for over 35 years i’ve owned 17 or 18 of them so far all types and sizes made the Bahama crossing several times you shouldn’t have many issues or Worries in the 47 with good running Diesels be smart on the Weather watching for the Gulf Stream and adjust accordingly once your in The Bahamian Waters you have plenty of Barrier Islands to safe Anchor and hide out from any bad weather just keep a good eye on Radar for Sneaky Vessels that may be Pirates Scoping out your boat. they target live Aboards knowing we have cash and valuables i strongly suggest carrying Arms and Ammunition despite Bahamian laws etc Customs are basically lazy give them a nice present and a cold Cocktail and let them do their Paperwork if you aren’t Smuggling they pretty much leave you alone i’ve never let them count my Ammo on my way in or out and face it We have the right to protect our Family and Home i’ve seen Vessels playing games on following me on Radar and made a general radio transmission that my Vessel is aware of them and we are fully Prepared to defend. ourselves. if they do not state their Intentions that incurred no problems as they retreated and did not return damn right i slept with a Semi Auto under my pillow with spare Clips within reach but without need to use it. it was also nice to know i had the Advantage if i needed it as. i. know the layout of my Boat better than any one else will and i had my own Burglar Alarm set in the event of anyone Boarding or trying to enter the Cabin Areas but overall the Bahamian Waters are fairly safe and there are plenty of visiting Boats that will look out for one another enjoying the same lifestyles
Beautiful boat, outstanding job of restoration, thank you for sharing! just gorgeous!...I grew up on grampas 1955 42 foot Chris Craft (gold standard of boats), live aboard on the weekends during high school summer as grampas "bilge rat"...grampa said "a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into"...thanks for the memories....boy the electronics have sure changed since the 50's-60's
My Parents had a 42ft Christ Craft tri cabin. Miss that old wooden boat. It was a sweet machine for sure! I took the US Power Squadron class with my Dad one winter. We learned everything to do with boating. How to plot courses and what all those bouy’s mean and all kinds of other neat stuff!
Gorgeous boat!!! ...but I must say, that he knew you were coming aboard to film, but didn't even make up his bed??!! UGHH!!! Hahaha!!! Love these boat tours Keep 'em coming!!
Brings back lots of memories growing up in my family's Constellation Chris Crafts....Ocean Reef YC, Bimini, conch, lobster, blue water coming into Bimini.....and nobody knows this one unless you did this back in the 70s.....navigating back with the Southeast Bank Bldg.!!!
Nice boat. I almost bought one of these, but I had a lot of other irons in the fire, and I knew that it would be a money and a time pit. It was a 1970's 410 Commander, and everything was basically mechanically good, but everything was original. When I say original I mean down to the green screen radar with the periscope snorkel to the 454 gasoline engines... it would have been 10 times what the boat cost in new parts, and ALL of my other projects would have been put on hold for a year or more. I can just imagine what you have into making this one shine like a new dime. Kudos on a job well done, Brother! :)
It's really nice to see videos such as this. Someone achieving their dream. I know what is meant by needing a bigger boat as you have more stuff. I moved house a few years back and ruthlessly got rid of things. Best thing I ever did. Less really is more. (Thanks for the video mate. I look forward to them now.)
Great video..thanks for posting..My Grandpa had a 19ft 72' Chris Craft Lancer..was the biggest boat on Lake Mahopac I Love loved that boat..Chris Craft rocks!
👍Terrific video. Thanks for sharing. 💝 👍I love what Chris said buy your first boat last buy your last boar first, or something like that...just buy the boat you really want. Yessss!!! 🥇🏆🏅⭐️
I grew up on the Chesapeake...I can relate to your synopsis regarding boat size. We had neighbors who went out every fall and traded up for a larger boat...the standard complaint was that the one they were letting go wouldn't crest the waves as well as the larger newer one. We used to laugh when they weren't around. They invested a fortune in trade-in losses over 4 years. After they got the largest one...they stopped boating due to kids getting bigger with girlfriends/not wanting to hang with the parents....again we laughed. I knew a fellow who ran a tour business in Annapolis harbor who also ran the US boat show, there. He was fortunate enough to be able to afford a fleet of various size and types of craft. Now he had the right idea. His tour boat was immense but he could still dock at the city pier (which he owned). He could decide which boat he wanted to use after he got to the dock. Nothing like money to solve problems such as that.
Ah, the Ortega Bridge and Stinson Park! I've watched the July 4 fireworks from there. Used to canoe on the Ortega River and explored a little island in it. I'm so homesick watching this. Beautiful boat and trip!
47 commander was CC apex. Spent a few weekends as a kid trolling up New port beach around 75. At that time The boat was pretty new. Mint. And I still love the commander for the longer beam and best floor plans for CC. This was the bested CC ever.
im getting close to retiring divorced no kids..Thinking about getting one of these...I know nothing about boats but this thing makes me want to learn......
Always wanted a 57’ Constellation. I think that was the most beautiful of the old Chris-Crafts. Unfortunately, being double planked plywood hulls, they have pretty much disappeared. The Roamers were also beautiful boats.
Here's your chance! I know of a 57 Constellation for sale right now, beautiful boat. Here's the link; www.yachtworld.com/boats/1967/chris-craft-constellation-3743863/ I agree, it is my favorite but too much work with the wood hull. I own a 1973 47 Commander with a flybridge that I absolutely love. I've completely restored it, she's a real beauty.
I have a 15’ Whaler SS, love it in the Chesapeake bay and off shore in Atlantic. Not sure how I’d ever buy, service and fuel something like this. Glad I’m content with my Whaler.
I love the advice: just skip the starter boats! I followed this same logic in 2021. It definitely makes for an adventure but nice not needing to upgrade for more space...haven't thought about "the next boat" once.
Connies, Roamers and Commanders! The heyday of Chris Craft, making boats out of wood, steel, aluminum and fiberglass in the same model year. And don't forget the plywood Cavaliers and the lapstrake Sea Skiff series. Anyone remember the 36' Corvette, the Jim Wynn hull design? Or the wood Corinthians? Those were the glory years of Chris Craft, the 60's and 70's.
Great job on the video and gorgeous yacht. I grew up with my parents 36' 1967 Chris Craft Crusader and my dream has always been to get the 47' Commander. I'm not sure if this is cool to ask, but can you give a general ballpark total cost of ownership per month? Thanks!
Yeah, but no comparison in terms of build quality. The 60's/70's Commanders were built like tanks. The 41 was from the Catalina line, a much lighter build.
What speed can that boat cruise at? Very nice, those old commanders have always got my attention out on the water. Only to be outdone by the old Huckins boats running around jax.
@@CullenCraft The GM 8V53's were not terribly powerful (240 hp if I recall correctly). They were overtaken by the 6-71's in later years. I think it topped out at around 18 knots full throttle and cruised at around 14 knots.
@@CullenCraft if we were meant to have fiberglass boats, we'd have fiberglass trees🤣... Then Greenpeace would have to campaign to save the fiberglass rain forrest🤣🤣... Then we'd have fiberglass lumberjacks🤣🤣🤣... Which, of course, reminds me of this🤣🤣🤣.."I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok..."🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FshU58nI0Ts.html
@@barnyard9058 boats are definitely cheaper than houses. That's the only thing people want to talk about when I tell them I live on mine. I've got the full script memorized "Yep! Living the dream! About 40 feet. Two bedrooms. 750 a month plus electricity Yes I know Yes the world is broken Yes Yes I gotta go get lunch bye"
