54 years after his plane crashed while serving in Vietnam, US Air Force Captain Fredrick Mervyn Hall's remains were met at the airport and escorted by motorcade to his hometown of Waynesville, NC where he was honored by his community and laid to rest with his family.
President Jack McManus was in attendance to represent VVA and to pay his respects.

Rest in Peace, Captain Hall. My grandmother was born and raised in the town of Waynesville. Quite a few of my ancestors are buried there in Waynesville.

After all these decades Captain Hall is welcomed home. This is such a moving video, seeing all the people who came out to honor his return. Some were too young to remember the war. I found the fly past very moving. Now he rests in peace at home.

Sadly, there are WW2 veterans still missing in action both in Europe and in Alaska, from hand to hand combat against the Japanese. One by one, they are recovered and brought home, one day we hope to bring them all home to what ever country they are from!

It’s good to see so many showing support to the family and honor of a fallen hero. Like the Scripture says, “His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.” (Job 14:21)
