I've always been fond of Castle Rock, we actually have one here in Nottingham! (and a brewery of the same name) Needful Things is by far my favourite story from The Rock, just intense!

As a newer King reader, I haven't gotten into Castle Rock stories much yet. So far only Cujo. But thanks to Dave's recommended top 10 books and this one I've got most of them now! Just need to get going with my reading 😊👍

This is such a useful video as it's a bit difficult to find one's feet in Castle Rock. And no spoilers to boot! As an aside, I always assumed Castle Rock was named after Castlerock in Northern Ireland, given its proximity to Londonderry (Derry) and Bangor. I wonder has King confirmed anything, not sure.

Thanks! And it’s actually named after Castle Rock in Lord of the Flies, which is where Jack and his tribe set themselves up a base in the second half of the book 👍

My first sk book was Pet sematary, the second was Needful things so I started this books without knowing anything about castle rock and its residents, and I enjoyed it very much (even tho I understand I would've gotten a deeper connection with it if I've read some CR books before) But it's still a great one even if it's your first CR story

Love the Castle Rock Tour Dave! I'll be plucking through this list (mostly as re-reads) when I wrap up the extended Dark Tower journey. Perhaps you could give us a reading order journey through Derry sometime as well? I know we have: It>Secret Window, Secret Garden>Insomnia>Bag of Bones>Road Virus>Dreamcatcher>Fair Extension>11.22.63 in publication order. But I am curious to know if there is a best order in which to go about this journey? Perhaps there are other short stories and/or novellas that would fit into this path as well? Keep up the good work man! Cheers

No, it was Castle Rock, Maine. The movie takes place in Castle Rock, Oregon, which is the only thing that bugs me, other than that it's a great adaptation.

The TV show Castle Rock? No, that is very separate from King’s Rock stories - that show is very much ‘inspired by’ rather than an adaptation of anything in particular

Great video Dave, hot take I'm not a huge fan of any castle rock novel.... elevation, absolutely loathe. gwendy trilogy, meh, only liked the first one. cujo and dead zone are amongst my least fav king books ever.... dark half and needful things are the only two i really enjoyed and even with them neither one is in my top 10.... idk, for whatever reason the rock and i do not get along lol. nonetheless, great video!!
