Dior was definitely not be messed with back in the days. We are 40 now bro!!! We made it!!!! Encourage the youngest to do better because they will do it!!!
This obviously ain’t about encouragement or glorification. It’s about historical facts and acknowledgment. A thorough explanation of why The Village has such a notorious reputation. From someone who was there and not only witnessed it but also lived it. Pay attention and listen.
I'm Major glad the big fella in the back standing behind the fence spoke that positive message. He wasn't trying to look hard, he was a real man. Salute to that brotha because he cared about the better environment the O.G's wanted. They didn't want niggaz to keep living that banging life and bragging on it. Again salute to that brotha for representing
This was a 🔥 interview. I like how they were speaking about the history of the neighborhood. The dude in the wheel chair reminded me of Crazy Legs from Dont be a Menace lol
Us black men have no pride or shame ..I would be embarrassed to be seen standing in that crappy place ..It's like seeing a baby standing in a messy play pen with poop everywhere .
I watch these videos and think of how impossible and difficult it felt to leave and get out of the hood. Others that watch these videos and jump to conclusions and just assume people wake up and say, I can’t wait to live in lack and desolation. I’m guilty of jumping to conclusions on my poor white brothers and sisters…until I realised their almost identical. Deprived of opportunity and investment, misery loves company environments, limited expectations and outlook, crime ridden and drug infested…overbearing feelings of hopelessness…I pray everyday and night for abundance and prosperity upon all of us. Ase
Exactly. I grew up with nothing. Homeless in the Bay since 13. It's no way to live in and out of shelters and motels. Living off SNAP food stamps, soup kitchens, and food banks for sustenance. I take pride in anything tough because it just makes you stronger, but these kids who have parents that drive a Benz, live in a nice condo, go to school, have the latest iPhone (my generation) and style they hair like its fun to be us? From riches to rags? Bro wtf.
I'm from these same hoods and I have to disagree. Especially in Oakland. The rent is higher in Oakland than it is in most other places in the bay area so why do niggas move from 73rd to 63rd and think some shits will change. People get on Section 8 and move into the slums when they take Section 8 in Fremont and Walnut Creek and Concord etc. You don't have to be on the hood but people want to stay where things are familiar. Yes there are some people who would have a harder time leaving but MOST OF US can leave but choose to stay. It's more MENTAL than financial
Bay niggaz go way harder than LA and I’m from LA! I went to the Bay and it was all love I couldn’t believe it niggaz was complimentin me on my clothes and they was fresh as hell too. I love Bay niggaz they know what real struggle is! Wish we could all come together!
PacManQue M u ain't from LA bruh the Bay Area we would be 1 city in LA they 10,000 times bigger then us and been doing the same thang's we been doing but they got way more cities
@Broken. U got it reversed cutty the bay area is tiny so were always hating and talking too much like were better then la when their a million xs bigger then us and never thinking bout the tiny bay
It’s sad, that man said he was born in 1980, and all he aspires to see Is that neighborhood that he grew up in. Little does he probably know, He lives in arguably the most Beautiful region in our country. All he has to do is drive 30 minutes to an hour from the neighborhood, and he will see a whole New World
Man when your from Oakland/Los Angeles/NYC etc You don't need to move you live in a city people wish they lived in and oppurtunity is everywhere in major citys like those , shit San Fransico is right across the water 🤣🤣
I like the delivery style. The lead guy lays down an endless free form narrative. The man behind him echoes, , reinforces, supports the beat. Soon everyone joins in because all know the saga and are united by it. All speak at once but there is no feeling of anyone being interrupted. It's like a piece of choral music.
Born and raised in East Oakland so listening to this is nostalgic, especially when ole boy gives the background about 6-5 Village…But 6-9 Village was a beast too and can’t forget Funktown.
What a good example for children ... pure drug addict ... they have us dominated by drugs, lack of confidence, poor education and debauchery ... we are sunk in our mistakes ...
Are they “bragging” or are they telling their life story as they are being interviewed? I didn’t hear anybody say, look up to us, be like us, we are your standard average role models.”
ENVIRONMENT SHAPES MINDSET. THE WORLD IS HUGE BUT THE GHETTO PUTS PRESSURE ON YOU THAT TURNS YOU INTO A DIAMOND OR COMPRESSES YOU TO GIVE IN. ITS SOMETHING PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHO ARENT FROM THESE ENVIRONMENTS . TRAVEL IS SO IMPORTANT AND IF THESE BROTHERS HAD A CHANCE TO TRAVEL AT A YOUNG AGE AND MEET OTHER PEOPLE AND PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE THEM IN OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY OR WORLD THEY WOULD THINK DIFFERENT AND HAVE THE CAPACITY TO SEE BEYOND THE BLOCK
People whose integrity has not been damaged in childhood, who were protected, respected, and treated with honesty by their parents, will be-both in their youth and in adulthood-intelligent, responsive, empathic, and highly sensitive. They will take pleasure in life and will not feel any need to kill or even hurt others or themselves. They will use their power to defend themselves, not to attack others. They will not be able to do otherwise than respect and protect those weaker than themselves, including their children, because this is what they have learned from their own experience.
Not like China. No need for young girls to have 5 kids by 5 different men or 1 guy to have 18 kids by multiple females. It’s pathetic and irresponsible and these communities will get worse and worse if that behavior continues.
@@CA-zr1kz yeah true, but I also hear that people nowadays are having less sex than generations before and that there's also less babies being born. So maybe that's a good thing?
Can’t be that bad bluhd you’ll be Ite. It’s an everyday thang mayne. Just stock up on Henny I lost hella cousins and potnas in Oakland and Real Richmond and that’s where I’m from Mayne!!!
Now this a real Interview.Blessings for all these brothers they kept it real for over 40 minutes for Charlie welcomed him even thoe the hood dont welcome nobody .East Oakland got some of the realest and most woke niggas out there.Shout out to the brothers.
I used to deliver oxygen tanks to all the hoods in East Oakland for a year including this hood, seen some wild shit, had to work late nights, people didn't give a fuck how late it was they needed there oxygen tanks, I never had problems though, people always showed love cause I was there help out there people
U act like ur gonna live forever.man who cares about that cause believe me it means nothing.u need to worry about everything thats going on in the world and try to find god cause the whole mr cool fonzi thing is only cool for a little while.
As a Polynesian; I rather return my ass back to the Island if the ghetto was my only option here in USA! I have families who lived there in Oakland hood but for me; it's not worth living the Island for it!!
Dude with the dreads knows what he's talking about. He a real reputable. Everyone talking over each other but when he speaks, they all get quiet. The Vill put Oakland on the map. Before the 1980s, the reputable hoods in the 70s was the Vill, Funktown and Bank Boys. But when he said outsiders were never accepted, Lil D was accepted. Lil D was from Seminary What most people don't know is that 69 and 65 were two separate hoods that were rivals. When Felix Mitchell rose to power he united San Antonio and Lockwood and created MOB. I don't know if GTO was ever in the 69 but they ran 65. but the vill was also known for having the most Buick Grand Nationals in the Town
17:54, Wave the white flag or wear a toe tag, makes me sad for those fellas to have to wake up every day wondering if today will be their last. My heart goes out to their mothers, as a mother myself I can’t stop thinking about what kind of fear these fellas mothers must be going through with the thought that they may lose a son. This video is scary and sadness all around.
Pointing that out in this day and age will get you marked a racist and white supremacist and you perpetuating black stereotypes. Truth apparently in this new world is rooted in racism
He said he did juvenile life fo knockin ah nigga in YA in the 90s when it was worst then adult California prisons cdc prisoners didn’t like when YA babies came to the pinta they was outta control an wit all da shit
Dope ass interview I’m from Philadelphia pa but I always wanted to visit the west coast just to see how different it is I’m going to do it 1 day watching this let me know it’s still hope and some ppl still have morals 💯
It’s all good man come out for a visit sometime. It’s just like anywhere else, if you mind your business , don’t move like a victim , show respect , and avoid a couple places you shouldn’t be, you’ll be just fine and have a great time. People from Oakland and the east Bay Area in general are actually pretty friendly and just looking to have a fun time and take care of they family. But if shit goes wrong out here…….it goes really bad. The trick is to just not let it get to that point
Yeah I agree fellas, in this generation it’s all about talking tough & what it was like in the crack epidemic of the 1980’s & 1990’s……Spark this generation with positivity then & do something positive….those crazy days before social media had reasons behind it….today it’s not necessary & anybody can be successful…..it’s too many resources at kids disposal these days, plus there are weed dispensaries in California everywhere….No need to cop your smoke from a stranger on the block, back in the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s you had to buy your drugs off the streets & because of racism most African American males turned to selling drugs to make money & survive BUT now too many work places have been sued for not hiring a certain minority etc….kids just idolize the street life & wanna hang on to what we had to struggle through during the 80’s & 90’s.
I just love to see us having out own style and culture. Though there may be misguided energy, these brotha’s have to survive the concrete jungle. Life ain’t always positive. Even though we go through so much we can still smile through the darkness. Peace and blessings to all. Im from PG County, Maryland. 💯💯💯 ‘Hip Hop Runs The World!’ 🔥💪🏾
I love the bay area swag.much love to Oakland,San Francisco,Vallejo,Richmond,San Jose,Sacramento, freemont, east Palo alto.and anywhere else in the bay I forgot about.i was born in San Jose California and moved away but it's still much much love to (the whole bay area)y'all just keep doing y'all's thing and don't copy other cities and states and thats what makes me respect the bay so much.they ain't folding for no bloods or crips and they still put it down for the town.FREE MAC BLAST-THA ACORN 6 STAR GENERAL.
@@BayDude510cuz I'm from the Land of the Scandalous aka LA and yall ain't no real Crippin in the Bay smh.. Them Asians in east Oakland ain't no real authentic Crips like that.. Yall might have some Crips and gangs like SOS, which is some official Crip homies but there ain't no Crips and Bloods like that out there cuz so knock it off cuz this comin from a LA Crip cuz
Homie said he never been to other parts of Oakland? That’s crazy to me. I’m from the dirty 30’s. I’ve seen all of Oakland. Beautiful city in my humble opinion.
No disrespect but all these dudes have hella potential. You can tell theyre smart. Take away environment and I bet these guys can make a bunch of legal money. These guys could have clean generational wealth.
Hooked on your videos Bro it's good to see how different people live and seeing some of the tough conditions certain people are living in should make people appreciate what they have because it could always be worse.
For me the 1990s! (94&95) riding on the strip East 14th (International Boulevard) or riding foothill in the summer time and dudes would bust open the fire hydrant, the weed was good back then fun
@@yie-shakentae551 I believe you, back before social media & gentrification took over…….I know them 80’s & 90’s in Oakland was probably brutal just like in Brooklyn, The Bronx & Queens NY.
When they Tore Down 69Village in the early 2000s majority of the Tenants came to Sacramento G Parkway TownHomes. G Parkway Mobb. They put an injunction on G Parkway in 04 tore it down and remodeled it. Mac Dre used to fuck with G Parkway tuff. Big part of the hyphy/Thizz movement.
I stayed in 2 of these apartments with my pops every so often when it was his turn to have my brother and I instead of moms.. coming from Hayward with moms, this shit was completely different. But if you mind your business you good over here these dudes mean well they just don’t fuck around. And this isn’t the first spot in Oakland we lived in. North Oakland before this, then Dog town then acorn… this just happened to be the most active in my eyes
You gotta hit 71st Hamilton bammer spot million dollar spot 96 bossland another old school rich guys spot sobrante park 98 Brookfield 23rd mo mo spot 77th green side
I grew up in the village back in the day and if anybody know what I’m talking about, it was back in the day was 71st and the five what’s going it , I remember when they used to shoot from off the rooftops, I remember we used to go to Greeman‘s field, The vill was real.
It wouldn't make too much sense now since Oakland ain't no where near as bad as it used to be. If they did reboot it I think Chicago would be a good city for it since there is so much corruption in the city from the politicians, to the judges, the school system and of course the violent streets, just like Baltimore.
My family lives in East Oakland East 14th and 72nd I remember I remember visiting them during the summer at times in the '80s Oakland was like a hopeless situation
I'm listening to what all the brothas are saying and I'm 47yrs old I grew up in the streets of Portland Oregon seen alot and done alot I can relate to this life they speak I lived it now I see different and woke up to another true knowledge read the word of the LORD check out the bible it's the realest shiit I've ever read Hosea ch4:1-6 the Spirit is Real to a need to know cause this world is toxic
Yeah but the parents were crackheads. Kids eating syrup sandwich’s and cereal food dinner. Electricity turned off. It was bad bad for village kids. That’s why they jumped off the porch so young and went crazy. Started selling dope at 10. I bet they lights never got turned off again. Y’all need to listen to what he saying instead of picking it apart and discredit the interview.
What big point y’all missing is that they lived at a million dollar spot not a million in a year they hood did ah million every day no lie so there was enough money for kids to run through a half brick because the dope fiends always ask the kids for some dope especially if the kids know Wasup when they pull up
When you're broke and desperate, drug dealers will take advantage of you by having you sell their drugs for them. He probably didn't buy the dope, and once it's sold he probably owes someone dangerous a lot of money. That's how it works. He probably just got a small cut.
Damn, I worked construction right over there. Putting in the stupid median bus stop, repavng the roads sidewalk and Ada ramps. That's a tough hood. They're was drive by cash chases burglary and other crimes all day everyday. A lot of the dead from Jonestown are buried right over there on the hill side of east Oakland.
Really? Do you really think in 2021, especially in these Democrat run cesspits that any of them are the "greatest" ? If I was you I would flee all major metropolitan areas asap.
@@donaldmack2307 I definitely wouldn’t wanna live in a republican city . Low education, and the highest poverty. Liberal cities are only bad in the ghetto parts .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eqceHviNBC4.html
I’m proud to be from the bay seeing this YALL don’t understand us that’s why we how we is full of game Charlie said I like interviewing y’all 💯 that’s because we different everywhere else you go niggas lightweight watered down unles it’s New Orleans niggas or Harlem Niggas there is a few other places but people from those places an the Bay Area got similar ways and out goin got energy with confidence an different type of intelligence spoken in a unorthodox manner is the best way I could describe it this is the place they say new jack city was about with nino brown they say Detroit the projects out there I think they called the Brewster or New York everybody say they hood but Felix Mitchell Mickey Moore And a lot pimps from. Out there
Yeah the problem is the rest of society tries to understand you and you guys never bother to understand anyone else. Selfish self absorbed mindset. Where the whole world should try to empathize and sympathize with those that do harm hate and abuse. If you guys ever spent time thinking about how your actions affect other people maybe things would get better but you make excuses and find pride in doing evil instead of owning your mistakes and facing your victims
@@CA-zr1kz okay uhhhh so yea one thing bout the bay we never been haters or jealous of people from other hoods especially if it’s similar to the way we rock out chea Gangsta n thugs got love here Soulja’s respect Souljas n Soulja’s respect Thugs
@@CA-zr1kz lmao you gotta chill out cuz there's too much opportunity in the bay to say something like that. What homie saying is right. Everyone everywhere else is watered down. I live in Reno but I came from the Stack and I been everywhere around the Bay, LA, Chicago, parts of Florida. Ain't no one in the bay really sulked on their morals b. We the only type of people who think the furthest. The brokest dudes in the Bay will have the mindset to spend on bitcoin. We not selfish and self-absorbed, we're forward thinking. The world catches up to us in every sense of the word. The Bay Area alone holds every major tech company we use today. And "Hella" finally became a household term, came up in the bay. We're too different. Y'all victims cuz y'all don't move fast enough.
