I ❤ This Channel!!! I live vicariously thru you, Amy, since I found your channel a year or 2 ago.. Your very easy to listen too & give so much information! I Love ALL animals & birds of prey have a special place in my heart, even when they get my chickens, I think they have to eat & probably feeding a family too. I sit outside every night and listen to the Great Horned Owls nearby. In the spring, I listen for the hawk babies..I've seen them so much more the past few years, in places I've never seen them, since their land is being destroyed so much...they hunt in the field next to my house & it's awesome watching the parents teaching the babies. Thanks for taking the time to make videos! Congrats on everything in your life & Scotland looks beautiful.. ✌from Louisiana, USA 😍

Have been watching your channel from rural BC Canada for some time. You and your birds are incredible. You have such patience. I feed small wild birds and get a kick out of watching them. I also feed the crows and ravens out back on my fence and try to get the stellar jays to feed in the front. And of course they don't pay any attention to my plans. So they make me go through twice the amount of peanuts which attract the squirrels. I can't turn any of the creatures down. I just love them all. Thank you for showing me how a professional handles it. Haha, I'll never get it right but I enjoy it. Of course, I absolutely LOVE Fable (how could I not?)

That will start my mandatory two year apprenticeship license term which is required to obtain a general falconers license (if I can find someone to agree to being my mentor). Your style of presenting information and sharing it is very easy to understand and it sticks. Some people know how to teach and some don't. Love LOVE your videos thank you ❤️ I was trying to attract crows to visit my yard & ended up with Steller’s Jays instead. The come sit on my chairs & give ‘concerts’ for peanuts, warbling blended imitations of all sorts of bird calls & local sounds… Ive had one start to repeat my whistle back to me! They’re so neat they’ve inspired me to learn about all types of corvids. As a dog trainer i was always curious about working with other animals, but had no idea how brilliant my own backyard birds could be. Still slowly building up trust with the PNW crows (they lurk & watch me & the jays now), but my Stellers are truly stellar ❤️ Still never seen a raven up close, so your videos are wonderful, thank you so much for sharing

Love the video. What a great thing for you to be able to work with such stunning creations of God's. I have a friend in Montana USA who worked for the Federal wildlife commission. He is on of the few people in the US who is allowed to breed, rehab and own all kinds of birds of prey. He has all kinds of Eagles and Falcons and I had the opportunity to be able to see them hunt. I have never seen anything so fast in my life. You cannot blink your eyes or you will miss when the bird catches it's prey. To this day it still gives me cold chills thinking about it and the grace and beauty that was displayed. Something I will never forget. Keep the videos coming and where is Fable the stunning crow, love watching him and his interactions with you.
@mamaboocee
@mamaboocee 2 года назад
Yes, these birds are a o fast - you have to have a really good eye to even see them catch something in the wild! Usually when the morning doves explode into flight in my little backyard it is too late to have seen the stalking and the catch. Out of hundreds of times I have only ever seen a coopers hawk make a catch. Usually, if you see the hawk AFTER the flight alarm of the doves, it means the hawk didnt catch anything! Hawks are amazing, but really, CORVIDS are my favorite! Fable is a great example of the intelligence of corvids!

Thanks for info. I have been riding down the road and seen hawks swoop down and catch snakes. mice and whatever the meal choice is for the day. I love all of God's little critters and I so enjoy watching them. l live in Virginia USA about 5 miles from the White House and it is a very populated area. Every day I get to see some kind of wildlife including deer, foxes, great blue herons and whatever else decides to make a pass through or around my yard. I keep binoculars at the patio sliding glass doors at all times. Watching all of the wildlife keeps me totally thrilled at their antics. There is a nice sized pond right outside my back door. God bless and stay safe.

@@Monkeybutt4659 awesome! I live near NYC but in suburbia - and my little yard has quite a bit of wildlife that I love to watch. There are no snakes that I have seen, we can hear the frogs at nightand of course we have rabbits, but the most amazing thing was having a great blue heron fly in and land on our shed! Since I feed birds in the yard, the hawks know its a good place to hunt. Last fall we had a great overpopulous of squirrels. One day I counted 26 squirrels in the yard at one time. Then one day I noticed a fox. The next week I just caught seeing him in the middle of a catch - a squirrel! He hunted our yard every morning at 7am like clockwork. By the next April, our squirrel population went down to three, and the fox population up by 2! Because of the overpopulation, many of the squirrels were very mangy and sick, so it's just as well. Last winter,, one little guy was so skinny and fur-less, i used to make sure he got peanuts every day. He really got better - and smart! The fox NEVER got him! But all the other squirrels picked on him, so I at least made it so he could eat well. It was so cold last winter and he had lost so much fur, I felt so sorry for him. After a while if I just made a throwing motion, he would know to come to me and get a peanut. He would take it and run off, come back a few minutes later for more but he never was bold like the other squirrels. We would do this every morning, till he had about 8 peanuts a day. He would patiently wait at a distance for me to throw the peanut, run and get it, and then go hide to eat it. Slowly his fur came back and he gained weight. I think he is the senior squirrel and boss of the yard, now! And he is polite and sweet - will not come up and destroy my potted plants and I see him playing with the other squirrels but not chasing them off. He will just wait in the distance for his peanut. And this year we have the biggest groundhog I ever saw - the size of three regular adult groundhogs. He had a mate (she was big, too) and they had 4 babies, and gosh they were so cute! And shy! If it wasn't for the fact that they ate ALL the veggies in my neighbors garden. I wouldn't mind them around so much! And now we have huge gopher holes all over, add chipmunks buroughs and THEIR tunnel entrances, we have a network of ankle breaking spots all over the place! But the chipmunks are cute, too - I don't purposely feed them, though. Just birds! And I enjoy them so much. Staying home because of covid last year allowed me the time to get to know my wild backyard residents!

I can get lots of information on crows and other corvids but seems little info on Rooks. What is the clucking sound in its throat that it makes. What does it mean. I was feeding some birds and the Rook approached me so i sat still and spoke to it and offered food on mu hand. He got really close and ate a few bits i dropped very close to me. Really looked at me and made clucking noise in his throat. Any response would be great. Love your videos...🤗
