I was just a kid when my dad was stationed there in 1983. We spent four years there and he retired from there in 87. It’s the longest that we have been stationed anywhere and I miss it so much. I spent third grade through sixth grade there and every summer me and my friends would ride our bikes to the O club swimming pool. We all had to know our dad‘s Social Security number so we get into the pool LOL
From the time we step off the bus there was a drill sergeant barking orders. His favorite words was "you mama babies" and the warning that was repeated several times "you mama babies will become soldiers If I don't kill you in the process, maybe Heartbreak ,Agony or Misery will". When I call your name you will answer "Here Drill Sargent". If you mama babies do not answer or I can't hear you, you will be marked as AWOL. Do you mama babies understand that? We double timed every where to chow ,being outfitted for clothes, every test and medical exam.. They gave 10 minutes to dress in our fatigues and return to formation where we was promptly inspected and yelled at for a minor gig.
I took boot camp there and AIT. No. in July??? 76 degrees? Maybe as a low at night but in July you can expect humid hot 98 degrees with heat index over 100. Public affairs fked this one up saying 76 DEGREES LOL
@ttranccoc123 Let me ask you this, have you been to Fort Knox? Do you know what is performed there? Im NOT saying Fort Knox is the hardest ok. All Fort Knox does is train tanks, cav scouts, infantry, and maybe just maybe MP. All Fort Benning is, is a BCT center and a GARRISON station that has extra promo points that you may take such as Ranger,Airborne, and Special Forces. Thats IT! If my choice came out of any Duty station to be the hardes it wouldn't be Benning it would be FORT BRAGG!
@ttranccoc123 So before you make and judgement get your facts straight because if you ask any retired vet or present solider they would agree and state to your face on what it really means to be an american solider to give their life for you to live each day.
All that is in Germany is a Duty station thats it. I am doing Cav Scout as well. And in knowing that you or I going into that particular MOS we will be stationed probably in FORT KNOX. Since that is where Cav Scout training is! And you will not get a choice on where you want to go to BCT because the U.S. Military will put you where they want you to.
@ttranccoc123 *Hardest* Fort Bragg is the Home of the Airborne. Fort Bragg troopers-which they are called!; do twice as much work than the regular infantry solider that is stationed out of FORT BENNING! So unless you go to every single BCT center and Garrison station make sure you have proof and training for all of them before you make judgement on just one particular station. People such as yourself fail to realize that it doesnt matter what BCT center is better its about all branches working,
hey fordboy I was also a 19d cavalry scout unit but probably way back before your day now! i was in knox in 1990 before I went to germany you said to hit you up so contact me ok? my email is yoink39200329@yahoo.com hoora!
@ttranccoc123 together as one nation as it states in a little piece of paper which is named the Declaration of Independence by our fore fathers has orginally designed us to do when any kind of war was provoked. People like yourself have forgotten why the troops of all branches are fighting for. The troops such as my family that have been in almost every single war has fought for the rights we have today such as freedom of speech, the right to believe in what we want are just a couple of examples
