Weld retip sapphire with Lampert PUK 3 

pichowna I do a lot of retipping so I got organised and made a range of widths of both flat wire and d shaped wire. I have these in all the metals, which is alot to maintain but it's worth it as it allows me to work quickly.

pichowna I always use the same as what the item is made of. I have lots of different widths of wire in 9Y, 9W, 18Y, 18W, platinum and the most popular widths of 14Y, 14W and silver. I pull them all down myself. The thin feeder wire used for building up, I used to pull down myself also but it was a pain to anneal such thin wire so these days I buy it from a local billion supplier (0.25mm).
