I'm happy you have discovered Marillion! There are 40 years of wonderful music to explore, including the fact they are still active and touring. They will be working on another album next year. If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it! If you liked this, you'll like "The Space" live at The Royal Albert Hall. It's more from the the five band members and their "Friends From The Orchestra".
Welcome to the Marillion family! A great reaction to this video of Easter, one of my favourite songs by them. They are all top musicians and make some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear over their 20 studio albums. They have so many great songs and they are starting to write their next album. The guitar solo is by Steve Rothery who is one of the best guitarists out there. He tries to put all the emotion and energy he has into each note. The band is : Steve Hogarth - vocals, Steve Rothery - guitar, Pete Trewavas - bass, Mark Kelly - keyboards, and Ian Mosley - drums. The orchestra musicians aren't usually on the live shows. This was a very, very special show at The Royal Albert Hall with the Friends Of The Orchestra.
Welcome to Marillion. This is a band, with a long history, but they are a bunch of amazing musicians who now play what they love. The guitarist is Steve Rothery, who is gilmouresque. He doesn't shred but plays by drawing every emotion out of the instrument. He is very underrated. Next I'd go with the four parts to the song 'The New Kings', from the album F.E.A.R. They must be heard together. It's a critique of the wealth and corruption practiced by the global super rich and elites.
Nice reaction 👍🏻 You've just discovered a gem: Marillion 💎. Their are great, especially live! Check out; The Great Escape (live '13) Neverland (live '09) Power (live '13)
I enjoy Death metal. However, this is my favorite band. Full of emotion, it hits you just as hard. The space live same venue or a proper Prog journey with Gaza live.
Defo the space at same venue, one of there best performances, also Gaza live is defo a mad trip Out of this world live port Zealand 2013, Brave full album (Steven Wilson mix) let's not forget (Neverland) .take care.
Saw and (photographed) the band on three dates of their last tour this month (November). They are simply amazing. p.s. I was at this show at the Albert Hall too. Check out "The Space"..it'll blow you away 🤩
Now you've opened the door to Marillionland - there's no going back! You just discovered one of the best bands ever! And there is a plethora of songs that will blow your mind. Always go for the live versions when it comes to Marillion!
Like many bands, Marillion eventually decided to make their live performances a bit different by adding some classical musicians to the mix to play slightly different versions of the fan favorites. For the most part, the string quartet, flute, and French horn just replaced the synths in the studio version. They are not part of the band, which consists of the amazing Steve Hogarth on lead vocals, second guitar, and second keyboards, Ian Moseley on drums. Pete Trewavas on bass guitar, Mark Kelly on keyboards, and the incomparable Steve Rothery on lead guitar. Hogarth is the reason I got into Marillion back in 2013. I think his voice is the best male voice in popular music. He is also the main lyricist for the band. He is a "late arrival" to Marillion, having replaced the previous lead singer, Fish, in 1989. The other guys have been in the band since the early 1980's. So, if you dial up anything from 1989 or earlier from Marillion, you won't hear the same guy on lead vocals, and I'd suggest you stick to post-1989 material if you really liked Hogarth's presentation. Having just finished praising Hogarth to high heaven, I have to add that he seems to think that singing in an almost falsetto on the studio cuts has a bigger emotional impact. He's wrong. When he is onstage, he has to sing more forcefully to be heard above the instruments of the other members of the band, and the impact is 10x better than the studio recordings, so always go with a live version in you want to be gobsmacked once again by a tsunami of emotion. It's what modern Marillion does to you. Their production crew is superb and always achieves near perfection in all of the live recordings.
One of the greatest version of Easter with classical ensemble. Gorgeous music. THE solo from Steve Rothery,! You are lucky to discover tons of jewel from all their discography. You MUST do "The space" from the same concert at RAH. Marillion are 5 guys, since 1983. Before 1989, there was Fish singing, then Steve Hogarth. They are still doing albums and touring. A Marillion fan.
When this gig was announced, Marillion sold out all 4500 seats in under 6 minutes. They are an amazing band, especially live. For other suggestions, try live versions of The Great Escape, This Strange Engine, King or if you want something a bit meatier, the live version of Gaza is fantastic
I saw them 6 days ago in Camden London…awesome „Easter“ was the 2nd song at this evening Check it out some more: The crow and the nightingale Care (a long one) Ocean cloud (long one) Or a dozen otherones
Frighteningly I remember when they were the big band in Aylesbury in the early 1980s. I liked John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett also Aylesbury locals so saw Marillion at the Friars Aylesbury because Otway and Barrett were supporting them. But that was in their first incarnation with Fish as their singer.
Well, that takes me back. Its been many years since I saw them live. A great band with many great tracks. Check out 'Made Again' if you get the chance. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I was forunate and got to attend the Seasons End Tour aprli 5th 1990, in Oslo. One of the best consert I've been to, and definitely the one with the best sound. Somehow Seasons End gets on my playlist coming out of winter, when the sun rise higher and stay up longer... In some way "The King of Sunset Town" reminds me of Grieg's Morning Mood (from Per Gynt). 😄😄 ... and now it's Easter 🐣🐣
It's always nice to see one more reviewer starts discovering the wonderful world of Marillion! There's so much awesome material that you will see and hear from their portfolio of 40+ years. Thanks for the reaction and welcome again, from a 56-years old Marillion fan who follows them since 1985. Wish it won't take long to meet in new Marillion reactions. Cheers! 💕
I have been listening to Marillion since my college days in the 1980's. I finally got to see them live in 2018. I was so amazed by their performance. I highly recommend this band to everyone who truly loves music! Check out "The Space" and also "Sugar Mice". If you want an epic listen to "Ocean Cloud" or "Grendel".
I discovered them in 1985, I was 17 at the time. I love them, I admire them, I adore them 💕 Last year I had the opportunity to see them live in Haarlem, Netherlands, two nights back to back. It was an event of a lifetime. Cheers!
Marillion are a five-piece, with In Praise of Folly in support for this gig. Try out their latest album, An Hour Before It's Dark, especially the final track, Care. Try to see them live - they are sublime! If you like epic songs, Neverland is a must, and The Invisible Man.
I did enjoy it. But I got overloaded with so much music sugestion and I just forgot about it. I realy do my best to make reaction to songs you guys sugest to me..
@@welderreactor Thanks for a quick reply - nice to find a reactor that actually reads comments and responds - I guess many get too big and forget the importance of doing so. Just listening to some of your channel now, and enjoying a lot of it - I especially like the Lacuna Coil and the reactions to the Beste Zangers show. Anyway, for a couple of suggestions from me - how about one from Marillion - Neverland (live) - link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l3NhNz9-EOA.html And one each from two great prog bands, that are sadly overlooked in reaction channels - Firstly Magenta, with the song Envy - link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OOlscU7h710.html And then Landmarq, with the song Glowing - Link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_z5YGNbmTCw.html Finally a live Lacuna Coil that is totally wonderful - song is Swamped - Link is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Eycf8vli_dY.html Hope you can react to them, preferably blind if you don't know them. Subscribed from both my channels.
