I think Louis’ major driving issue is he’s still in denial & shame over who/what he is. Those problems didn’t go away when he became a vampire.

That's exactly what I believe too. Even when he was human, Louis was miserable about not being able to be himself. And now as a vampire he's still unable to reconcile who he wants to be with his new nature. He's constantly looking to escape in either his job, books, hobbies, or relationships but he doesn't really take the time to be alone and figure himself out. And unfortunately what we do end up getting when Louis does act compulsively to his true desires is a guy who really isn't that great at all😅

Assad does a lot of interviews with RU-vidrs and he said a lot of that fight was improvised by him and Jacob. Rolin told them go low and pitty. I died at “ picking lent off the sofa?” And “ my daughter was my sister was my throw pillow “😂

As far as your question about Armand and control it's both. Armand essentially LONGS for someone to care for him and let go of control but because he's constantly sabotaging his relationships with his grip on twisting things to suit him he can't get what he wants. He's very difficult to love, he was essentially taken and groomed at a very young age and his entire life he's always belonged to someone, and that line has always been a blurred mix of comfort, desire and shame for Armand so these games they play of maitre/Arun are tapping into that comfort thats also a web of seggsual trauma...it's a mess. Thats all he's known. Armand also never had the stability of letting go and trusting because he also has a history of abandonment when he's found what he wants. So Armand wants desperate to be loved and kept safe and he's not understanding that essentially means trusting someone he loves and giving up this careful control he keeps manipulating to his will. He can't help himself they are all SO traumatized and years as a vampire just makes it grow unsettled and ready to boil over at any moment.
@cyanrose499
@cyanrose499 Месяц назад
Wonderfully put, Armand is truly a double edged sword of maintaining control while simultaneously wanting to giving it up so someone else can take care of his needs. And it's unfortunate for him that he had that deep desire for Lestat and Louis, two people who have their own issues and use that desperate dynamic (intentionally or untentionally) to get what they want. Just broken people everywhere you turn😢😢

I don’t mean this in a Claudia slander way, but I kind of do think there was some truth to what Armand was saying, in that I think Claudia cared deeply for Louis but after he refused to burn Lestat and choked her out back in New Orleans she can’t really see a future for herself with him where she’s still happy. We see back in episode two through her diaries that for the first six months in Paris before the coven reveals themselves, she feels like he’s a burden, haunted by his guilt over Lestat, remorseful for the humans she gleefully kills. She doesn’t want him to die or suffer, but she wonders what life would be like with a companion who sees her as an equal, as more than just a daughter. Even when she wants to be his sister, Louis still refers to her as his daughter to the strangers in Eastern Europe and even to Dream Lestat in his own head, he can’t see her for the woman that she is. They love each other but they’re also dragging each other down. If they could’ve safely parted ways I think he might not be haunted by her now and in the 70s. But then whatever ends up happening in Paris occurs, and they can’t have that proper reconciliation, so he spends the next 70 years with Armand drowning in the idea that he failed her
@shalayahomebodytv
@shalayahomebodytv Месяц назад
Yeah. I'll be the first to say him choking her up, drove a rift between them. But I honestly feel like Louie depended on her too much. That's why Lestat wouldn't let her leave. And Claudia felt if she left Louie, he wouldn't survive. For a second, honestly, he was a burden until he got with Armand. That's when he decided to get his act together, but by then, it's too late.

@@RowensARTstudioso true, and the part about Louis being "the most human vampire" is exactly what's blocking him from finally being at peace with who he is and developing his own skills to better protect himself. He's got so much potential! He can't even appreciate his new abilities and the freedom he has both financially and liberally I his romantic relationships because he's too focused on his disgust about his vampire nature, so he tries his best to avoid confronting it and tries to immerse himself as much as possible back into human affairs. Whereas he could have used that time to better control his feeding habits to avoid "deleting" his victims if he hates it so much. He's not even good at hiding his thoughts for so many years! 😫 Something that even Claudia was able to do without anyone really teaching her

I don't think he's evil. He's a being with conscience. He has guilt. He believes strongly in rules and order- he has ways that he navigates his existence that are ethical to him. Like he enchants his victims into not being scared so that their death is "easeful", he likes to hunt so the victim has a theoretical chance, prefers to choose people he thinks the world is better without. He's repulsed at the thought of turning someone into a vampire. He still has a latent religious streak. If anything, he's lawful neutral.
@RowensARTstudio
@RowensARTstudio Месяц назад
You're picking up on so many things that others just fully miss, especially about Armand... But for Louis, I can say about Louis, a good deal of why he is the way he is. Something that alot of people disregard, forget or just don't understand/realize. These Vampires, like many other versions of Vampires... when they are turned, they are essentially frozen in time. But that's not just physically. That's psychologically, that's mentally and emotionally. When Louis was turned, he was traumatized, depressed, suicidal, in mourning from loss. But he also was terrorized, in shock, afraid, confused, etc. And don't forget the Catholic guilt that he was raised with (the self punishment, the cannot be happy because that's a sin. pleasure and indulgence, also a "sin", etc) And that's when Lestat turned him. So unfortunately he will always be frozen there. Always depressed, always guilty, always resentful, always wishing to die, always self-destructive, always feeling like he doesn't deserve to be happy, always feeling like he NEEDS to atone, always mourning his lost loved one(s), always afraid. Always in a state where he had little to no agency in his own life, little actual choice, etc... It's like how Claudia, no matter how old she gets, will always be frozen as a teenager experiencing puberty. Always in a state of hormonal and emotional upheaval. Always the scared, lonely girl who never knew real love and was left to die in a fire. That's when she was turned. Alot of Lestats and Armands "problems" etc, are for the same reason. And Louis love for Lestat and inability to just move on, is partly for the same reason. It's Lestats blood that's circulating in his veins after all... that man is quite literally in his blood. He will never not love him, he will never not need him, he will never not desire to be with him or seek him out. Lestat is literally an intrinsic part of his being. But on top of that, his daughter and the very last of his "family" was murdered (or at least that's what he's led to believe), his first fledgling was murdered... and the man who did it is keeping him trapped in a role that does not fit him, and keeping him from the one thing he most desires/needs, and from the one thing that could help him heal and regulate (which yes, is Lestat). He's essentially keeping him drugged up, in a psychological straight jacket, in a padded room (Dubai/Armand himself) and telling him it's for his own good. And is being made to live as this character in a play Armand wrote. Except the stage outfit that Armand is requiring him to wear, does not fit him, it's cutting off circulation. He's "suffocating". "suffocation, by the worlds BEIGEST pillow" 🤣🤣

Let's not forget Armand is also stuck in this same pattern only it's compounded as he was a child and groomed by people AND his maker it's all he knows he doesn't even remember a life before slavery. There's a pattern of need for unhealthy things because Armand has never learned what healthy existence is, I mean Armand is overwhelmed and coming home with Marius as a BOY and Marius gives him seggsual release to "comfort him" like who wouldn't grow up to be messed up. Poor things
@cyanrose499
@cyanrose499 Месяц назад
This part right here 🎯 A huge part of their vampire nature stems from how and when they were turned. And I think that's why the vampire rules are so strict about who can be turned. They wanted to make sure that only those at their physical and mental peaks should be given the choice to become vampires because any imbalance will result in chaos. There was even a part of the ritual (in the books) where it's important for them to see their last sunset before being turned and sleep in a coffin because I think it helps their psyche let go of their mortal life and accept their new vampire life

…. So I’m just gonna say this, I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler since idk if they are going to go this direction on the show, but honestly how they are setting it up it can go either way… but in the books, Claudia did hate Louis. She hated both Louis and Lestat. The only reason why she kept Louis around is because she needed someone to care for her, and Louis was easy enough to manipulate….
@cyanrose499
@cyanrose499 Месяц назад
Yeah, book Claudia hated Louis ever since she found out that he's the one who came to her family's home and almost "deleted" her. She must have realised that she's one of the very few who were given a choice to become a vampire and to twist the knife, her very existence was to act as the sweet daughter to keep these two crazy people from breaking up and offing themselves 💀 The resentment must have grown more and more and got worse when they got to Paris and she saw how easy it would be for Louis to leave her for Armand, but how difficult it would have been for her to roam around as a child vampire without an adult guardian/companion.

Louis totally should be single and just try to deal with his traumas to me you need to understand that out of all the vampires in the chronicles he is the most human it's one of the biggest reasons why both lestat and armand love him it would be good to see Louis be by himself because his vampire life he's always had someone
@lstarsabb
@lstarsabb Месяц назад
Louis is naturally a depressed guy, I think that’s why I’m so drawn to him. He always pressured to be boxed in to please the people around him as human he was a closed gay that had to be the white man's punching bag just to get a couple of cents off the dollar. Then when he turned even though Claudia wasn’t as annoyed at Louis choice in eating only animals like Lestat was, she still had a problem with it. Louis never can just BE. I think he wants find his way as a vampire while enjoying his human attachments the closest he had to that was Paris and even though he obviously didn’t care what the other vampires thought, it became an issue even before he over played his hand. Armand was the only person closest to him that just let him be but then he betrayed him so now he is resentfully heartbroken and was put back in his box.

Hey Shalaya! Love your reactions as always and the fit is so cute!🥺 I'm glad you picked up when Armand said Louis was "hoping Lestat would come chasing after him AGAIN" coz it definitely confirms that in the 70s Louis knew Lestat was still alive. I wonder if even now in Dubai Armand has been trying over and over to make Louis believe that he and Claudia really did manage to get rid of Lestat back in New Orleans because Louis had a complete breakdown in season 1 when Daniel pointed out the BS of only tossing him into a coffin. Whereas in San Francisco, Louis didn't seem that surprised to hear that Lestat was alive and may have already encountered him back in Paris. I think Armand realised in San Francisco that he can't allow Louis to keep the final memories of Paris involving Lestat, Claudia and the Theatre. But now the problem is that Louis keeps calling more and more journalists to interview him for his story since they left Paris that it has to be way over hundreds they've gotten rid of. And Armand keeps erasing all those memories of the interviews but kept the one with Daniel because of their pact. Louis is still actively trying to see if Lestat is really out there because I believe he can still feel him as his fledgling and the vampire bond they share
@shalayahomebodytv

I forgot he did go crazy in Paris. I wonder if Armand messing with his memory is why Louis can never get the facts straight? And I'm wondering how much of Paris he took away because I still don't understand how Louis could stay with him after what he did
@cyanrose499
@cyanrose499 Месяц назад
@@shalayahomebodytv that's the real mystery, why would Louis still be with Armand if he knew he was the basically the reason that Claudia was deleted? In the books (and I guess the movie too) Armand was playing innocent, acting like he didn't know the coven would punish her that badly and Louis dragged Armand for years (as his own form of revenge, having Armand lick his boots for forgiveness) before finally confronting him and telling him he knew it was his plan all along. Then literally tossing him aside like a tissue to go meet up with Lestat finally. I'm guessing here Armand will do his best to convince Louis that Lestat was the one who was responsible for ultimately sealing Claudia's fate, even though Louis now knows that Armand organized for Santiago and the coven to capture them. Vampire trial, here we come!!😭

I’m interested to see why he chose to stay was it because he told himself what Claudia told him “ you have to give something to get something” ? Meaning he knows in his heart he will never forgive Armand and whatever feelings he was building for him will never be the same, but at least he had more control in this relationship vs his relationship with Lestat and he thinks he can endure being a vampire this way, but as we see those feels have a way of coming out and in Louis case him the worst way.

I think Louis' problem is that he's constantly in denial of what/who he is and wants. He's either running away from his problems or his feelings. He became a vampire under duress, lovebombed while he was drunk off his arse & suicidal to boot. So he died with all of that; on top of all the mess that happened afterwards. So I agree--he needs a century or two to process & really find himself; get a hobby, get a JOB, and do something than just sit around woolgathering about his failures. Plus, he needs to sit down with Lestat and a couples therapist, LOL.

The opposite of love is not hate. Claudia did hate Louis. But that doesn't mean she didn't love him. She wanted respect and love and autonomy that she could never get from any of the Vampires she met. Of course she was angry with her father/brothers. Lestat was abusive and controlling. Louis is passive and continually abandons her. She killed for her freedom. Armand is being petty and manipulative using what Louis is insecure about to hurt him. Louis thinks - as others have said - that he failed Claudia, and because of that she didn't love him. Armand is using that fear, worry, self hatred to hurt Louis and it drives him to a suicide attempt. So the question is not did Claudia love him. How long did she nurse Louis back to health? The question is what does Louis think about Claudia? Everything about these relationships between murderous monsters is dysfunctional. To hold Claudia to some sort of standard of selfless love is odd IMO.
