I have been most graciously corrected on two matters - Dr. Sugar was Treasurer rather than Chancellor and the word 'rebus' is Latin, meaning 'by things', which is rather neat! Thanks to Kath Bristow, fellow guide and singer.
I consider myself very fortunate to have passed the selection process to train as a Cathedral Guide, written test and observed tour and all, in order to be allowed to enthuse over it and perhaps help to interpret it - one meets many interesting people, in non-COVID times!
All things considered, I thought this has turned out rather well. Thanks to Gabriel and to Wells Cathedral - a very special place about which much can be said!

Indeed it does, though the experts argue over the exact number. There are some particularly fine ones executed in wood in the vault of the Bishop's Chapel at the Palace next door.
